From the ACC Area Sports Journal: “Our defense has really made major strides over the spring. We have a chance to be really good. I’ve challenged them. We’ve been in the hundreds (statistically) three straight years. It’s time to get below that this year. In order to win week to week, you’ve got to have […]
Football Links of Interest
Just some random college football links of interest that became overdue during our last couple of weeks of hiatus: ===> Let’s start with one of my favorite magazines, The Sporting News. TSN not only asks, “Is it football season yet?”…but, they also offer Wolfpackers a nice bone to chomp when they pick us as one […]
Hodge & McCants Barb as Julius Climbs
Old ‘friends’ Julius Hodge and Rashad McCants traded barbs at their Charlotte Bobcats workouts. McCants said he’ll be drafted between 12th and 17th, although he believes he should go higher. He said the perception that he’s difficult to coach may be harming his reputation. “Meanwhile, Hodge’s stock has risen, and Bickerstaff believes he’ll be a […]
State Perspective: ‘Barnes Beats out UNC, UConn’
The headline on the 4th page (Welcome to Texas) last week’s Houston Chronicle says it all: UT stages coup by luring recruit from powerhouses Barnes beats out North Carolina, UConn for Durant The NC State Message Boards have been having some (surprisingly) calm discussions about the topic…that invariably produces the question: “Depsite NC State’s significant […]
Hiatus Almost Over
The Blog team has been out of pocket for the last couple of weeks but we expect to start being a little more active starting next week. We just wanted to thank those that had checked in on us to make sure that we were alright!
Ouch, Mel
As I was blissfully surfing my XM Radio Saturday afternoon, I happened to stumble across ESPN Radio’s ACC preview. I forget the second member of the broadcast tandem, but the primary analyst was NFL Draft guru Mel Kiper (who must be branching out). Unsurprisingly, they pegged Miami, Florida State, Virginia Tech, and Boston College as […]
UCF Drops NC State From ’06 & ’07 Football Schedule
The Golden Knights will buy themselves out of three games in 2006 and another in 2007. Georgia, South Carolina and NC State will drop off the ’06 schedule, UCF officials confirmed. And NC State, which was scheduled to come to Orlando in ’06, also will have its ’07 game bought out.
Athletics Season Over
NC State’s baseball team unfortunately joined the teams from Virginia and UNC-CH and was eliminated from the NCAA Baseball Tournament on Sunday. The Wolfpack lost two games over the weekend to lower-seeded Creighton. The Wolfpack ended the season 41-19. Quick Review * The highlight of this year’s season was easily the Wolfpack’s dramatic series with […]
Pack Falls; Sorry, ACC
Logged on to the internet this morning excited to learn how our Wolpack did in the NCAA Baseball Tournament this weekend…the news wasn’t good. Well, actually, at PackPride.com the news just didn’t exist. Which…of course…was how I knew that the Wolfpack lost. Similar to last week’s ACC Tournament where State won the first round game […]
June 2: We’re #50!!!!
The most recent NACDA Directors Cup rankings of College Athletics Programs were released today. (You may recognize the “Directors Cup” from its former identity of “Sears Cup”). The June 2, 2005 rankings have Lee Fowler’s NC State Athletics Department holding firm at an embarrassing, but not surprising #50. Fowler’s program has averaged finishing #46.5 in […]
