NC State landed a verbal football commitment today from another true scholar-athlete that represents the kind of ‘Champion’ in the classroom and on the field to which Coach O’Brien often refers. You can click here for more about Marcus Edmund
He recently received football scholarship offers from Arizona, Wake Forest, and North Carolina State, and more might be in the pipeline for the cornerback as his senior season approaches.

Edmond is rated as the top football prospect in the Midlands by scvarsity.com publisher Jim Baxter.
“It feels great, to know some of the options I have already,†Edmond said. “I just work hard and my parents push me to try at everything. It’s great to see that paying off.â€
Edmond improved his stock as he played quarterback and cornerback this past season.
“He came in and did a great job and had a great season on both sides of the ball, and has a chance to do it again next year, only with bigger expectations,†Farmer said.
Edmond followed his junior season on the football field by hitting the basketball court as a guard for the Lower State finalist Diamond Hornets. He also competed in the track and field state finals in the 400-, 800- and the 1,600-meter relay.
“But football has always been my main sport and my favorite, and I’m going to be working even harder to improve over the summer,†Edmond said.
Edmond, who plans to study engineering, said he will choose a program based on the academic possibilities.
By most accounts, the Wolfpack currently has approximately nine verbal commitments for the 2013 class, having picked up three commits last week that are discussed here.
