Despite struggling through a respectable early season schedule without the help of Tracy Smith, Sidney Lowe’s Wolfpack has not been declared Dead on Arrival before ACC play begins.
Who knows if it is optimism? or realism that the conference is particularly weak? or a lack of exposure of how the Pack has played. Nonetheless, I’ll take it.
5. N.C. State (7-4, 0-0): Fifth may be too charitable for a team so dependent on freshmen C.J. Leslie, Ryan Harrow and Lorenzo Brown. But the Wolfpack did beat George Mason, and like UNC and FSU, its losses are quality: Georgetown, Wisconsin, Syracuse and Arizona. The key is when All-ACC forward Tracy Smith returns from a left knee injury that’s sidelined him for the last nine games.
