It is really something to see a conference take such a proactive response to a situation like this. As opposed to…[you finish the paragraph]

SEC Athletics Integrity > The ACC (AKA the Carolina/Swofford way)?

Pearl admitted guilt, though. Butch didn’t, and they’re all drinking that koolaid.

I’m guessing that 8 games is without pay, we should hire him as a scout/recruiter for that period.

He is only suspended for those 8 SEC games. He can still coach during practice and the non-conference game versus UConn.

His first game back is at UK. I am sure Calipari will love that.

I really like Pearl, but by lying to the NCAA, he has got to be fired.

This is better than nothing but if I’m a coach, I’d keep cheating if I’m only suspended 8 games. If they’re loaded with talent the associate coach can easily get them through that stretch. Make the punishment harsh enough so that other coaches stop. Its really that simple.

Watch and learn Commissioner Swofford. You have a much more serious and diffuse problem in your alma mater’s football progam and probably in more of your alma mater’s athletic programs. The SEC is being proactive while you have your head in the sand. Pretend its Clempson or FShoesU rather than UNX and do your job.

Wow, I didn’t read it close enough at first and thought it was just the first 8 games of the season. Being suspended for half of conference play is a pretty decent punishment.

He was caught cheating by the NCAA, lied to the NCAA, his AD, and President. Also NCAA has informed school that Pearl and his staff made 96 illegal calls to recruits 34 of which were made by Pearl. So far the school tore up his contract. He has not been fired, this is unbelievalbe. NCAA is still invetigating and they is a good chance they will uncover other violations. Guess conf. felt like they had to do something.
