Another BIG week in the ACC AET Index Games (Week 12)

NOTE:

I’ve done enough of these weekly articles on both the message boards on main page that I’m not going to keep covering everything again.  If you are new to the ACC AET Index please refer back to the first article of the year 2010 ACC AET Index for a quick education in the numbers.  Week 9 article  is also good to review to understand why I’ve included a new version of the AET Index that I believe is a more accurate way of comparing teams.

What do I think?

  1. Trash talking, passing of white envelopes, free rides, cupcakes, Rolexes, and “I Support Lesbians” t-shirts…and that’s just honoring the Seniors.  It can only mean one thing folks…it’s rivalry week for NC State (at least that’s what UNC fans and the local media keep saying because they only get fired up for Duke football…mull that one over for awhile).  Throw Out the Records.  It’s going to be a wild one folks.  I really have no feel for this game.  Neither team seem to be able to put together back to back quality performances this year and emotions will be sky high.  You’ve got the best talent that money can buy against Mr. 3-0.  So I’m just going with the good guys on this one.  NC State. (Was there ever any doubt??)
  2. Bowl eligibility for the 12th consecutive season (I think that’s right) is on the line for BC.  Not much else to say, because really, no one even cares.  Boston College.
  3. Any doubt on this one?  Georgia Tech.
  4. If Swinney can’t beat THIS Wake Forest team on the road he might want to just stay in Winston-Salem.  Clemson.
  5. VT has 2 chances to win the division and it starts with Miami.  A team with a wealth of talent and Gilligan steering the boat for another 3 hour tour.  I’ve got a feeling that Miami will jump out to an early lead and VT’s second half team will show up to make it a close win.  Virginia Tech.
  6. Here’s where Maryland either proves it’s a contender or is exposed as a pretender.  They failed to prove anything all year against anyone that isn’t awful.  Their best win so far…Boston College.  That says it all right there folks.  One thing that this season has done for them is build some unbelievable confidence in a young team and discover their future QB.  The question is, have they learned enough to beat a good team?  I don’t think so.  Florida State.

The blog and the SFN Forums are being over-run with fantastic work and conversation, so please make sure to spend some time scrolling down and catching up on everything. We want to surpass 30,000 page views today and the only way we can do it is for everyone to dive deep and drive conversations for people to refresh their browsers a lot. A few recent items include Cowdog’s fantastic personal account of State-Carolina football; State’s very tough OOC schedule, State football by the numbers, and of course Thorp & Co. letting the BOT know all is well over at the Flagship. Feel free to discuss all of this and much more at the SFN Forums.

We’ll know in the first few minutes who came to play. Question – is “permanently banned from play” typical language from the NCAA when booting a player off a team?

I’m torn. It helps State is Maryland beats FSU. But if they beat FSU, maybe they’re a better team than we give them credit for being. I guess I’ll pull for Maryland to win, but for all the wrong reasons (like 10 turnovers by FSU in the red zone).
