Caught in a lie? Little, Austin & others in Miami @ “Aquagirl Weekend” in May…not March?

“Oh! what a tangled web we weave, When first we practise to deceive!” — Sir Walter Scott (Scottish novelist)

Last night, SFN ran a fun story (linked here) focused on Marvin Austin’s pictures and tweets and is currently blowing up the internet with attention and traffic.

Some of the pictures and comments served to contradict comments made in the press by Greg Little and his father. (Are you picking up on the reasons why there is a 100% lockdown on allowing anyone from UNC-Chapel Hill’s football program to speak to the media? They obviously still haven’t got all of their stories straight.

Joe Giglio at the N&O and ACCNow astutely noticed the discrepancy and made note of the contradictions a blog entry this morning. (Link)

The picture was posted by Miss Natalie Nunn on Tweetphoto. According to Nunn’s web site, she is a reality show star (“Bad Girls Club”), model and “an entertainer, a lover, a friend to many, an athlete, and personality on television.”

Also, Little’s father said his son and Austin went to Miam in March on spring break. The time-stamp on the photo would suggest the pair made two trips to Miami in three months.

Little was interviewed by the NCAA earlier this month in Chapel Hill, his father said, and so was Austin, according to sources.

Since this news broke, it has come to my attention that many UNC-CH fans and media apologists have gone into scramble mode to cover Greg Little’s – “My dad paid for my trip to Miami but that was in March” -story with a half-assed explanation that those pictures could have been taken in March and not uploaded until May. This theory seems to originated in this tweet from Raleigh radio host, Joe Ovies.

by the way, that picture simply could have been taken in March and uploaded in May

I am not arguing the point that Greg Little took a trip to Miami in March – he and his father have publicly stated that to be the case. But, I’m telling you…Greg Little was also in Miami in May of this year; and I’m getting ready to show you how & why I know this. In doing so, I ask the question, “why in the hell media members would so innately default into a mode of rationalization, excusing and justifying what they see with their on friggin eyes?” (I know…that is rhetorical.)

The following additional pictures prove my point and create a world of hurt for Greg Little and his daddy:

Joe Ovies tweeted about this ^ picture that was in my original piece : “that picture simply could have been taken in March and uploaded in May” — something the media would FOR SURE be doing if State was involved here, Right?

It appears that Marvin Austin and Greg Little were down in Miami at an event called “Aquagirl Weekend.”  I watched The Superfriends as a child and I don’t remember any “Aquagirl,” so I think I have figured out that this is not a superhero reference.

http://www.aquagirl.org/

This Aquagirl thing is pretty cool.  You can go to the website and learn that it is a “week long celebration for women who love women.”  Hey, who would not want to be there for that!? I want to go next year! I just don’t know how I would have afforded such a trip with my friends while I was in college – after a semester where I took multiple trips to Washington, Miami and potentially New York and Las Vegas.

But I digress….when you research ‘Aquagirl Weekend’ you will also see that it was held in Southbeach (Miami, FL) from May 12th through May 16th this year.

How do we link Aquagirl (and Little’s apparent May trip) into this whole thing?

drumroll

ta-da!

Same girls, same outfits, same hat, obviously the same party.  And look at the message above the picture.

So the dates are apparently exactly what I said they were.  I assume one of these girls is reality TV Star Miss Natalie Nunn.  certainly she could shed some light on this dates issue (if there still is one).  I have no idea what “VH1 Exotica” is, and I don’t have time to get into it right now.  I will have to let the media finally step up and so some of their own work here. (My comments about the media do not apply to J.P. Giglio, who is actually coving this story well.  Imagine that!  It’s sad that the one guy doing the work is the one who stands out.)

In parting…if you need one other undiscussed and unexplained item that is slipping through the cracks…can anyone explain the following picture posted on May 31st by UNC defensive back, Kendric Burney? Note, I’m not accusing Burney of anything…but with such little disclosure and discussion coming from the North Carolina Football program we don’t have anything but our eyes to use to draw conclusions.

Remember everyone — this thing is limited only to Marvin Austin. Rinse & repeat. Rinse & repeat.

“Joe Ovies apparently tweeted (speaking about this ^ picture that was in my original piece) : “that picture simply could have been taken in March and uploaded in May” — trying to keep UNC-CH out of trouble, something the media would FOR SURE be doing if State was involved here, Right?”

The point is that Little and company have plausible deniability. There is a difference between a time-stamp and a posting date. Without the original file (which TweetPhoto does not save EXIF data), all you have to go on is a random update from a “reality star”. I’m not saying “this is the absolute case here” and throwing that possibility out there.

As it stands though, yes…Aquagirl got her party on various places in the same outfit. Certainly doesn’t look good for the players involved.

In the meantime, return to your regularly scheduled Christmas in July and remember that I hate everybody’s posse.

Ovies, you may want to Google Aquagirl weekend. It is so easy, even a unc media whore can do it. Look at what I found when I did it. http://www.aquagirl.org/ That is the first link returned. Oh, the date for this years Aquagirl weekend? Yep, May 12-16. Tough to manufacture that by us conspiracy theorists. As to, it could have been in March defense. It would take a huge leap of faith to believe that they just happened to hook up with this chick several weeks prior while she was wearing the same bikini, etc. Not happening.

I don’t see the plausible deniability that you are talking about. If you guys would actually do your job instead of covering the ass of those in Chapel Hill, you might gain a little respectability.

  3. StateFans 07/21/2010 at 12:24 PM #

We don’t subscribe to media conspiracies as much as we subscribe to media incompetence.

But, it doesn’t surprise me that we may respectfully disagree on things when one side of this discussion can look at these pictures and the facts here and remotely want to discuss ‘plausible deniability’ instead of calling this what it obviously is.

  4. packfan03 07/21/2010 at 12:38 PM #

Erring on the side of defense when evidence is presented to the contrary (i.e., THIS) will almost always draw attention as bias. I do not believe in a media conspiracy against NCSU, however, I do believe in media bias.

Those are pictures from this year’s party. Picture number 30 shows a few people sitting pool side. Bottom right corner of the picture. It looks like the guy easiest to see in that picture has different shades than MA, however there are very guys in any of these pictures.

There are other pictures of this event on the website. I wonder how hard it would be to find MA or GL.

  6. StateFans 07/21/2010 at 12:58 PM #

^ May want to screen grab any pics before they mysteriously disappear. I still wish we could have gotten Austin’s first Twitter account named “LifeofMA”. I used to love to read about his many trips to Charlotte and the strip bars in the area.

  7. Daily Update 07/21/2010 at 1:09 PM #

^Good find. Another shot of Little and Austin Miami(2nd one Seawolf posted).

  8. SeaWolf 07/21/2010 at 1:10 PM #

Insinuating enough? StateFans may want to get some screen caps of these.

  9. OviesHatesYourPosse 07/21/2010 at 1:18 PM #

Let me make it clear that it looks bad. Never said that it didn’t.

The initial point was that I could easily take a year old photo off my iPhone and uploaded it to TwitPic with a “timestamp” of today.

The additional photos of Aquagirl in the same bikini on the same day certainly adds more SMOKE to the situation.

Are you done laughing from my SMOOOOOKE reference? OK, moving on.

I’m sorry that I’m not screaming “proof!” over this. If you’ve read my stories WRAL and listened to my comments on The Fan, you’ll know exactly where I stand on this.

  10. SeaWolf 07/21/2010 at 1:20 PM #

I’d say it adds more logs to the fire.

  11. wufpup76 07/21/2010 at 1:28 PM #

    Great, great work.

Way to stay on top of this. And I’m not saying ‘great work’ because it portrays poor unx people as potentinal – nay – definite liars.

I’m saying great work because the truth should come out and bullsh*t should be called what it is.

    Fantastic coverage.

  12. wufpup76 07/21/2010 at 1:37 PM #

    There’s that ‘SMOKE’ word again … 🙂

  13. StateFans 07/21/2010 at 1:40 PM #

Ovies, I understand your point (and definitely appreciate the use of the word “smoke” in your response) 🙂

Again, understand and appreciate the relevance of your point.

I hope that you can understand that, particularly as NC State fans, it is frustrating for us to watch the media immediately default to looking for reasons why this stuff wouldn’t be true.

We just never experienced that in our ‘major scandal’ of selling tickets and shows.

  14. StateFans 07/21/2010 at 1:41 PM #

Honestly…many of us enjoy following this story more because of how we can show the media’s failures than because it involves Carolina.

  15. PackisRolling 07/21/2010 at 1:45 PM #

it all boils down to UNC gets the benefit of the doubt when others (like State) don’t. And I’d like to know why.

  16. Skoll 07/21/2010 at 1:47 PM #

And Statefans just hits it out of the park with, “particularly as NC State fans, it is frustrating for us to watch the media immediately default to looking for reasons why this stuff wouldn’t be true.” Exactly. The media will circle the wagons around unc and go into protect mode or slow play the entire issue. State does not get that latitude.

  17. OviesHatesYourPosse 07/21/2010 at 1:48 PM #

    @StateFans

Ah yes, the “our scandal”. Been over this and here is the important part to note about how things are covered:

It’s not that “major media” in this area doesn’t want to cover it. It’s that they aren’t that savvy to the ways of Twitter and social media. I am savvy about it, and know ways around timestamps and photoshop. Not everything on the net is legit, y’all know this. That’s what freaks editors out.

Credit to Giglio, dude has to bust through a ton of red tape to write what he is writing.

And this gets me to my other point — newspapers today simply aren’t as relevant as they used to be. Everyone still operates with this mentality that only the N&O can validate a story. It’s 2010, folks. Whole new ballgame.

  18. SeaWolf 07/21/2010 at 1:52 PM #

    Ovies:

Then how about a mention about this on the radio today?

  19. wufpup76 07/21/2010 at 2:07 PM #

“Credit to Giglio, dude has to bust throw a ton of red tape to write what he is writing.”

    ^God bless him, then.

We’re past the point now though that this deserves more equitable coverage. An Alabama player is now suspended/ineligible.

Still waiting for The Tarnashing of The (not so pristine) Hole.

  20. wufpup76 07/21/2010 at 2:15 PM #

    New Slogan:

Wolfpack Unlimited: No more accepting DOUBLE STANDARDS from the media.

StateFans is absolutely correct – yes, I’m fascinated that Unx is involved; however, I’m am absolutely having a great time as a State fan by digging at the media.

No bias, no malfeasance? Please, by all means prove it.

  21. OviesHatesYourPosse 07/21/2010 at 2:15 PM #

@SeaWolf – Yeah, it’ll be mentioned. Just like all the other stuff has been mentioned. Just as it was mentioned in the ACC Sports Podcast I did with Jim Young today.

I understand not everyone can listen to 4 hours of radio a day, but it’s not like AG and I are tiptoeing around the issue.

SFN promotes itself as a place of reasonable discussion, correct? Reasonable discussion includes ideas that don’t always mesh together. It appears as though some can’t get with that.

As for the bias, all those boogie men many of you cling from 20 years ago aren’t even employed any more or have moved to positions that don’t really shape public opinion any more.

  22. packfan03 07/21/2010 at 2:26 PM #

As for the bias, all those boogie men many of you cling from 20 years ago aren’t even employed any more or have moved to positions that don’t really shape public opinion any more.

I refuse to let go :-). Of course, I think most of us understand that the N&O today is different than what it was during the V days and that the evolution of media changed our perception of real-time stories. The concept of “swept under the rug” simply doesn’t exist anymore. The internet changed everything, and in this case, for the good.

  23. Skoll 07/21/2010 at 2:26 PM #

The “boogeymen” may no longer be employed there, but the bias still exists. How do you explain the articles about one of our players illegally parking in a handicap spot or the failed attempt at uncovering wrong-doing surrounding the College Inn? Yet, investigative reporting surrounding the goings on in Chapel Hill is sorely lacking. It can’t be that hard to understand why we see a local media conspiracy.

  24. SeaWolf 07/21/2010 at 2:27 PM #

Good to hear. I’ll be listening. I don’t have an axe to grind. I was barely breathing 20 years ago. Just want the truth represented. No more of the “it’s the agents fault” and “athletes should get paid”. I’m tired of those discussions. Marvin et al should be held responsible for their actions.
