Well, it’s time to redeem ourselves after basically crapping ourselves on the court against lowly Miami. It’s as simple as this – we need to win at least one more game as an underdog (assuming we beat Wake at home – we will be favored to do so), or the NIT won’t happen.
I’m not sure there is a better time to play a decent (but by no means great) Maryland team than immediately after a thrashing of hated pseudo-rival Duke. Getting VT after they beat UNC in the Nose Dome isn’t bad timing, either. If NC State is going to make a move that doesn’t involve free-fall, the next 5 days are a good time to do so.
