GoPack Tries to Pull A Fast One

Check out the picture of the Pack celebrating from today’s game.

Oh wait.

That picture in today’s article has the Pack celebrating on the sidelines while wearing white uniforms. You know, the uniforms that State wears when playing home games.

As you know…State played in Winston-Salem and wore red today.

Classic!

Gotta love the consistent hard work from our friends at GoPack!!

For fun, this link will take you to a quick entry that links to quite a few related/similar entries.

    GoPack.com plain sucks.

On a related theme..is it too much to ask them to take some time to write a profile of Darrell Davis and Jarvis Williams basketball background, rather than linking to their football photo/profile?

    Totally ghetto.

Hmmmm… was looking at Gopack.com for info on the 7 footer from Poland and happened to notice their article on the WFU win included a photo of the bench supposedly cheering during the game. Did they not think we would notice that they were all wearing white home jerseys? Geez, at least use a fradulent photo from an away game!

I also emailed Gopack.com about this… No response so far.

    ^ PROPS GIVEN!!

Hadn’t read that. Good minds think alike!

    Thanks SFN!

  5. roandaddy 01/13/2007 at 7:20 PM #

Oh yeah.. you are right about the jerseys. Sorry… I was too caught up reading their SELF PROMOTING ADVERTISMENT and didn’t realize we played basketball!

Damn……………………………… I needed this tonight. LOL

  7. wolfonthehill 01/13/2007 at 8:27 PM #

Plus, the “NC STATE” on our bench chairs… plus, our bench is on the wrong end of the court… except for that, it’s a pretty reasonable assumption to think we’d never know the difference.

  8. redfred2 01/13/2007 at 8:32 PM #

Is Herb anywhere in that picture?

  9. packof81 01/13/2007 at 10:03 PM #

These cookie cutter commercial sites with their slow loading advertisements and crapletts are internet blight. I don’t want to visit sites like gopack. I’m disappointed the university does business with them. They ought to have students run the NCSU athletics site. It would be better without the advertising and the students would gain experience.

  10. Sw0rdf1sh 01/14/2007 at 8:10 AM #

    packof81….

You hit it on the head. Why wouldn’t you have students (um maybe some assistance from the School of Design) maintain the site instead of spending money?

I have a Pack Pass that is pretty much worthless. I mean you can get radio coverage of the game, (if I’m not here in Wilmington I guess that is something) but not much more of value.

I canceled my CSTV subcription, which at least had video, and now have ACC select for my video when it’s not local.

    GoPack needs some help.

As a paying packpass member, I still have not figured out how to get into packpass. There should be a direct link on the front page but I can only find the subscription link for new members. On a side note, those red uni’s yesterday look very sweet. Still think they need a few tweaks but for the most part they look great.

  12. PalmettoWolf 01/14/2007 at 8:19 AM #

Wow… a login has somehow miraculously appeared on the front page of gopack.

Another gripe… those new gametrackers are AWFUL. Last year’s was much better. I noticed yesterday’s game had last year’s version. I hope that’s a permanent change. However, I’m guessing it’s because Wake still uses the old gametracker.

All I’ve got to say is…HOW ‘BOUT THEM TARHOLES?!?! They had one hell of a day yesterday. The Hokies beat ’em while playing at the tempo that the Tarholes think they are invincible, AND they hired the offensive coordinator from one of the worst offensive teams in the NFL this year (the Raiders)…and last year for that matter. How exciting to know that the Tarholes have hired their very own version of Marc Trestman! I hate to link you guys to the Tarhole website, but I know that the information is there. All hail John Shoop. The next Marc Trestman!!! I love it.

  14. JimValvano 01/14/2007 at 9:18 AM #

Now that I’ve read more of the article…this Shoop guy sounds like he’s captained more than one terrible offense. He was the offensive coordinator for the Bears from 2001-2003. He sounds almost exactly like Trestman. I’m so excited for the Tarholes to have made such a quality hire. I guess Butch commanded too much salary and now they don’t have enough money to spend on unimportant things such as…offensive coordinators.

Its also shameful how bad TheWolfpacker.com has gotten. I used to actually subscribe to that site.

  16. dj9686 01/14/2007 at 10:13 AM #

Yep, when we hired Trestman I read his bio and looked at what he had done (or hadn’t) and was perplexed as to why we would hire this guy since he had a worst track record than Noel Mazzone. Of course as it turned out he was probably the only kind of candidate that would take that job under Amato since there seemed to continuously be issues in the past that drove out the OC’s. Didn’t seem to matter if they were successful or not, they didn’t last long. I’ve got a friend who is a huge UNC fan and has been keeping me up-to-date on all the new-hires Butch has landed–he does seem to have an affinity for these Oakland coaches–but he hasn’t brought up this one yet. I’m sure he’ll find a shiney blue lining in this though. I think UNC may have a bunch of 10-9 type scores their first few years. That is if their DC is as good as they say.

Speaking of odd site, I got 3 emails from Scout.com telling me we had a new FB recruit. When I went there it was a “soft verbal” That’s slightly interesting the first time but 3 emails on the same thing????????

Check again. We got 3 verbals today from a JC punter, a RB and an OL. The RB isn’t listed yet, but the other guys are. Sounds like Coach O’Brien and his staff had a pretty good weekend.

By the way, that “soft verbal” is a pretty important recruit who had a great visit this weekend. The holes are trying to steal this guy away from us. Hopefully the staff sealed the deal with him this weekend.

Gopack is a reflection of its master, Wolfpack Sports Marketing. Nuff said about that. I wish that they’d hire me to be their web producer, because with their budget and resources that site would be outstanding within one month. As it is, they seem to believe that producing it is a pain in the ass and the job they do makes it obvious that no one gives a damn about it.

The Wolfpacker is not a bad site, nor is Scout.com, considering. Matt Carter and James Henderson respectively do good jobs of covering Wolfpack news and recruiting, and are usually authoritative when it comes to hard Wolfpack news.

Statefans Nation is clearly the best of the blogs, and you folks should thank your lucky stars it is here. And, that it is free. Time is not free, especially in this busy life. Nor is bandwidth is not free, it is paid for. Then there’s stuff you never see, like administration I personally pay over $100 out of pocket monthly to keep the Red and White From State up, for example. And like SFN, I have no ads and I ask for no money. It’s done out of love for the Pack.

Finally, I would be quite remiss to not mention Steven and Section Six.

All in all we Wolfpacker’s have it pretty good when it comes to the Internet, all complaining aside.

UVA did the same thing 2 days ago. Unless Hansbrough is on BC’s roster now:

the featured auction item on gopack right now is a dwayne wade autographed jersey. that makes sense.

  23. redfred2 01/15/2007 at 8:32 PM #

Herb probably recruited D Wade at one time. ???

RAWFS – I like your site. Especially when I want to look for past records (coaches, seasons, schedule, game outcomes, etc) It’s a real good info source.

[…] Poor GoPack.com. They are at it again. I am not going to go through the hassle of capturing their screen again – but they have included pictures of State’s November home game against Michigan as the accompaniment to he story for last night’s win at Virginia Tech. It’s just pitiful. Here is a link to the last conversation that we had when they pulled the identical stunt after State’s win at Wake Forest. […]
