It’s always nice to be recognized by your peers, and StateFans Nation is proud to be nominated for three College Football Blogger Awards. We have been nominated for “Best ACC Blog,” “Best Community Interaction Award (see, you faithful readers and commenters do play a vital role here – fittingly, we found out about these nominations by a commenter),” and the bittersweet “Job Award.”

Category #3 merits a little explanation – it is for “the blog that has suffered through its chosen team’s dismal season with the most dignity.” This is the nomination that I am most proud of. We do express anger and discontent on this site, but we really do make an effort to do so in a logical, thoughtful, objective fashion. Despite the mindless drivel spouted on other online outlets, I think this rebuts the “lunatic fringe” label quite nicely. Coupled with the nice feedback we’ve received even from UNC fans, I believe SFN has had a very good 2006-07 in terms of peer review.

Thanks to all of our readers for participating in this blog, and here’s to a great 2007 (even without any coaching controversies or searches to track).

    Excellence as well as mediocrity eventually get recognized as such. SFN is for sure on the excellent side. Keep it up guys!

    Congratulations SFN! Greatly appreciate all of the wonderful entries, commentary, and interaction with other Pack fans. Also like how you are able to maintain the integrity of this website as a forum for serious fans, and not a bunch of d-bag spouting nonsensicals.

    I’m depressed. We didn’t get nominated for the Dr.Z award for cogent, interesting analysis.

    I wonder which end we were graded down on….cogent or interesting. Herb or Lee must have had input to the nominations. 😉

    The info here is always good. People can disagree and agree but at least share their thoughts. Some of the data and facts are excellent. The insight is much needed and (I believe) is a close reflection of the unspoken alumni out there.

    One thing about NC State is that we experience the highs and the lows that come with playing sports. During the lows we howl and whine some but during the highs we really make noise like a pack.

    I honestly believe that when you experience some sports pain and loss — you achieve the ultimate high we get when we beat our rivals. (Personally, i would prefer to be anestheticised for a number of years — but that day will come.)

    I never cared for message boards and blogs before but SFN has made me a believer.

    SFN should be a frontrunner for the Job award. They should win best ACC blog hands down.

    NC State fans are too often seen by outsiders as an irrational, malcontented rabble. SFN provides a much more accurate snapshot of the Wolfpack fanbase with its reasonable, yet passionate discussion. For this reason, I hope you guys get as much pub as possible.

    I’ll take the blame, for everyone on the site, in missing out on the “cogent” part of that Dr.Z award there VaWolf82.

    It’s like having that undersized fifth year senior, not a hair out place, perfectly pressed uniform and all, the one who’s always caught picking his nose on camera way down at the other end of the bench. That one kid that’s always accompanied by a chorus of low moans and groans and who’s begrudgingly forced into important games more often then anyone would care to see, and at times and places where it is painfully obvious that he doesn’t even belong. Then with no time left, everyone watching at the very end (as in thread), he steps up to the line for the front end of a one in one, chance to tie and sent it into OT, and instead of any signs of finesse, he clunks a hard line drive off of the backboard, barely hitting the side of the rim before it kareens off some ladies head somewhere up in the third row. Thus, ruining all of the hard work and effort expended by everyone else who had contributed on that particular day.

    That would basically be about as close to a basketball anology as I can come up with regarding red-the supersub-fred2’s excruciatingly looong, and drawn out, contributions on this site.

    Sorry SFN. But I do enjoy the site!!!, and the great work on all of your parts, along with many others here. Please keep it coming!

    Way to go SFN. Once you pointed me to your blog from another unmentioned board I’ve spent WAY more time here than there. It’s all because of content and presentation.
