“24”
The N&O’s ACC Now Blog has done some fantastic research on a topic that we have discussed a few times here at SFN. In fact, just earlier this week we ran a piece named “23 is still less than 24” as a follow-up to this great entry from last week. Both entries lay the groundwork for the N&O’s entry today. If you want to win in college football, score 24 points. Really, it’s that simple, at least for teams in the ACC.
Since 2002, when a team, currently in the ACC, scores at least 24 points, it has won 315 games and lost only 58, a staggering winning percentage of 85.
Just as telling, the same teams are 74-223, only a 25 percent clip, when they fail to score 24 points. No current ACC team has a winning record under those circumstances.

Amato is currently 49-31 at NC State. If the Pack wins three more games this season, Amato will tie Sheridan for the most wins in a 7 year period of NC State football by a single coach.
