Rivers Impressive

We can’t follow every NC State alumnus playing football in the NFL (especially since the number of Wolfpackers in the NFL continues to grow and grow and grow). Additionally, we can’t focus an inordinate amount of attention on Philip Rivers has he gets ready to take the reigns of the San Diego Chargers.

But, we can’t ignore this blog entry from Seth Wickersham on ESPN.com titled “Rivers drawing rave reviews”. It is for Premium subscribers, so we won’t share any more than the following:

Toward the end of Tuesday’s practice, the ball hadn’t touched the ground in awhile. Rivers was performing surgery on the Chargers’ first-stringers. Sure, it’s only training camp, and Rivers was wearing his red “Don’t hit me” jersey. But he wasn’t missing.

I was impressed. And I wasn’t the only one.

Rivers is amazingly accurate. During practice, I noticed he threw a slant to Gates a little behind him, and after the throw the two were talking on the sideline. “I just wanted him to know why I threw it behind him on his shoulder rather than [behind him on] his numbers,” Rivers said later.

That’s accurate.

Take that, Jason Whitlock!

He is getting some pretty descent hype again finally. I’ll be glued to the tube on Sunday’s and watching the NFL more than I have in recent years for just that one reason.

^I didn’t really choose to, it was kinda shoved in my face, but recently I’ve set my sights a lot higher than anything the boys in powder blue have ever accomplished on the gridiron. That may be either good or bad, but what UNC does in football, is no longer a factor in my book. Call me crazy but I want Miami, FSU, VT….

Somebody needs to call you crazy, but it won’t be me.

How ’bout calling me crazy, because I think we need start beating the UNC’s and the WF’s of the world before we can set our sites on beating Miami, VT and FSU…..Oh wait, we have FSU’s number don’t we? Too bad we don’t have Duke on the schedule any more. We always blow them out by at least 7 points every time.

Seriously, if we could just win most of the games that we’re favored to win we’d have had good records the past 2 years.
We’re overdue for a big upset win against somebody other than the Noles.

Even Mediocre Mike OCain pulled off wins at Texas and Syracuse. The Orangemen suck now, but they were in the national spotlight then.

I can only hope some good souls share the NFL games as they did the ‘Canes games…I am going to be sick out here in Japan unable to watch Rivers do his thing after all these years. One way or another, I can’t wait to see him play again.
