LOL! Leave it to Lee!

There is not very much in this “Q&A with John Swofford” of that much value.

But, of course, we couldn’t help ourselves when we saw the ‘chosen’ Athletics Director running his mouth in the public forum about the conference’s finances. Our critics will undoubtedly find ways to criticize us for being hypersensitive on the topic; and we couldn’t agree more that if you choose to view this entry in a vaccuum that it would most definitely look extreme. But after six years of behavior to judge, no vaccuums can legitimately exist for anyone that doesn’t keep their head in their ass or the sand.

Despite the presence of three other ACC schools in the area, you can always “leave it to Lee” to be the one yapping to the media. As we all know, there is no other AD in the country that you could be so busy running “Media Counts” to track their public comments. How many AD’s talk so much that the media finally issues directions and tells them to shut up?

Although the league has not released its figures for the 2005-06 academic year, N.C. State athletics director Lee Fowler said his school already has been paid $10.5 million by the league. With one payment left in September, that’s already more than the $10.2 million the Wolfpack received from the ACC for the 2004-05 school year, when the league only had expanded to 11.

OK you lost me with the relevance of that South Park screen shot….

See the image on Stan’s right. It’s a screen shot of people with their head buried in the sand. Recent “Cartoon Wars” episodes. Pretty funny.

He just can’t keep away, can he? You’d think he’d be less concerned about sucking up to a tool who’s interest is UNC, UNC, and and UNC and more concerned that runs the third place program in the Triangle area.

My contempt for Lee continues to bloom.

I couldn’t post on the “geek” thread above. Even though I have read the link there before relating Fowler’s comment concerning Duke and UNC, it still amazes me.

Werner, Davis, all recruits everywhere, Seton Hall, Georgetown, and all of the other universities in the land, are all hearing you loud and clear out there Mr Fowler.

I hope Lowe can persuade the AD to put a sock in it, so he and his staff can have at least a little hope on the recruiting trail. Doesn’t anyone at NCSU comprehend the fact that no one wants to hear their own admininstrators belittling their own university? That goes for any school, no matter what size or in what conference, anywhere in the country. Poor job performance coupled with low expectations is not the type of resume that should allow anyone to continue their employment even at Burger King.

We started basketball excellence in this part of the country and it was perpetuated by NC State University for a long while. It was a reality. That is no matter who, or how many, refuse to believe that fact right now.

Everything is still here and just waiting.

Why do we continue to keep such an inept AD that does not even like nor understand the University he is working for?

His continuous promulgation of NC State inadequacies to the national/local media and subservient attitude towards UNX and Dook only point to his colossal inferiority complex regarding his own abilities.

You are talking about a school that promoted Les Robinson after 3 years of absolute failure to AD. A school that wouldn’t let Sendek go even after he had lost at least 50% of the fan base and destroyed the university’s basketball legacy. The chances of anyone taking Fowler out is slim. They’ll let him flounder around another couple of years until he is offered another job and he’ll take off into the sunset.

The good news is next time the AD will have to go through Amato and Lowe. There will no chance that the new person isn’t a State fan. By no means does the AD need to be an alum but at the very least someone that can act like they are a fan of NC State athletics.

Lee Fowler has been successful. When fans no longer believe that NC State possesses any ability compete with it’s former closest rivals, and everything is based on a lesser set of values, then the administrators are entrenched and sitting pretty. Mr Fowler has gone a long way in accomplishing that feat.

I should have said “fans and major supporters” above.

What kills me is that I am considered a fanatical lunatic because I believe little ol’ NC State University can compete with the likes of UNC and Duke.

Damn right it can. It’s the university that set the standards around here to begin with. It had all the others chasing and hoping to someday catch up. If anyone thinks I am going to forget how it should be just because of fifteen years of unmotivated dullards being at the helm, they have another thing coming.

^”What kills me is that I am considered a fanatical lunatic…”

After reflecting on that post a day later, what the hell, it’s a fact.

I wrote about Lee’s other newspaper article today —

    http://www.redandwhitefromstate.com/article.php?story=20061107085656116

It’s the usual parrot droppings that Chuck’s in no trouble and about fan talk and Internet squawking not meaning a thing.

You guys at SFN have done a great job of commenting on the other article which flatly amazed me.

Lee just needs to learn when not to talk and how to talk to people when he does.
