General NCS Basketball Stat of the Day9

Since NC State outscored Carolina 11 to 0 to open the first game of this years’ series in Chapel Hill, Carolina’s “down” team (according to Lee Fowler) has outscored Herb Sendek’s best Wolfpack squad in a decade by 177-129.

Over the last 2 seasons, Roy Williams’ 2nd & 3rd installments of Carolina Basketball have defeated Herb Sendek’s 9th and 10th installments of State Basketball have outscored State by 25% more points that the Pack has been able to muster.

Herb Sendek has dropped FOUR consecutive games to Carolina by margins in the double figures, and has only lost to Roy Williams by less than seven points once in six tries.

Sendek’s 8th, 9th, and 10th installments of Wolfpack Basketball have been outscored by a total of 80 points by Williams’ 1st, 2nd, and 3rd installments of Tarheel Basketball (that was so deemed so bad by Carolina’s administration that they fired the previous coach).

    WTNY, if you think this is bad. Roy will have two streaks going: Clemson in Chapel Hill and Herb anywhere they meet!

    Actually, Roy could take Hansbrough, two church league players and two fat guys from the Y and beat Sendek. Sendek is the gift that keeps on giving to the Williams household sort of like an annuity.

    LOL…DOH left Roy with more talent than he ever recruited at Kansas…not even close!

    Not that it matters, but why deduct 11 points…did they not count? It still looks bad either way. 🙁

    DOH left Roy with more talent than he ever recruited at Kansas? What are you smoking? If so, then I guess Roy is even better than we thought since he won a crap-load of games with “little to no talent”. Give me a break!

    And… what did DOH do with that talent? Got himself fired!! What did Roy do with that talent? Got himself a national title!!

    ^ Pacdaddy has a bad case of Roy envy.
    Matt left lots of talent for sure. His problem was he couldn’t gain their respect and Roy did. That’s just another reason Roy will always be at the top of this league. I don’t like that but it’s the truth.

    c/o74 – The respect thing with Roy and the BBU players is something I had forgotten. I now recall very vividly Roy’s first 2 press conferences. The first one, where his hiring was announced, was attended by the players dressed in their best thug attire. They looked like they came straight from the hip-hop studio on their way to the streets to make a sale. The second press conference they were dressed in suits and business casual. I remember the impression it made on me: Uh-oh, he’s already straightening out the Doh mess.

    ^ That’s absurd on so many levels. Excuse number 846 from the NC State Excuse Club Handbook.

    We don’t have any money, but we have one of the top basketball arenas and practice facilities in the country?

    We don’t have any money, but we have one of the largest booster club’s in the country at over 18,000 members?

    We don’t have any money…but the new arena that we have generates over $2MM MORE in revenue for our programs than our old arena did? We pay Sendek the exact same amount of money that we paid him BEFORE moving into the new arena. What happened to all of that extra money? What if we used that to invest in a new coach to give us a return on all of our capital investment?

    What we don’t have is prudent, intelligent, and proactive MANAGEMENT of our resources.
