I’m looking forward to seeing all of the statistical evidence that indicates that Duke (and Carolina) don’t receive preferential treatment in officiating. Unfortunately, all the statistics in the world can’t measure calls that aren’t made or just how bad calls that are made can be.
Duke wasn’t able to connect on a single field goal in the eleven minutes of the ACC Championship but was to get to the free throw line (appropriately or otherwise) to win their 6th Atlantic Coast Conference Championship in 7 years.
Duke now ties Carolina with 15 ACC Titles each. The last time the ACC Tournament was in the Washington, DC area, NC State ranked #1 in the ACC winning 10 of the conferences 34 Championships. Since then, Duke has won eight titles, Carolina has won five titles, Georgia Tech two, Wake Forest two, and Maryland one. State has has “been competitive”, but has not won a single title since Jim Valvano’s run.
