Gowolves, I have no idea exactly what all created the changes in the Steelers but they are AWESOME right now. The first quarter I was worried they would get smoked again by the Ravens but they held them to one score and then started piling on again. Two weeks in a row top offenses have been totally shut down, and Big Ben lit it up again. Over 850 yards passing and 12 TDs in two games is off the scale (i.e. never been done before).

GSU should have beat GT. Duke and UNx did. I say with the improvement on the D side of the ball we have a pretty good shot at taking them down, especially if they get some twist going on the blitz packages they have been bringing. I say it’s a toss up, we could take this game. If we do, watch out, we could win out and take a top 5 position in the league.

Just watched the interview with DD and Pharoah, did anyone else notice that kid kept saying “yes ma’am”? That is a class kid right there. He did come from a rival high school to where I grew up but he is all class to me. I know this defense took a lot of hits during the first half of this season but they are REALLY starting to show up. Still wondered what happened to Moore this week. Those kids are beginning to to gel and they are YOUNG. One or two more positions get filled with backups and such and they could be monsters.

Personally I’d take 1 – 2 if the 1 was unx and we smoke them AND keep them from being bowl eligible.

Our conference streak is now 1-0. That was some really bad officiating. Twice on their big pass plays I saw tons of holding going on and not one yellow hanky.

The problem is it was an athletic academic issue which became a larger academic issue. At the heart it was BOTH, not an either/or proposition. Deflect and deny. what is that in latin? that should be their new motto.

The problem is the proof has always been there. Improper benefits, cars, money, and of course grades on imaginary classes, just no one was willing to pursue it. The death sentence on ALL NCAA sanctioned sports is in order. EVERYONE of them. AND GIVE BACK THE MONEY! Every penny.

I think it’s high time for a class action lawsuit by the other schools in the state (private type ones since NCSU could not do this).

The UNX homer had no clue that Gabriel played for STATE, not UNX.

The board of governors should be shutting down the UNX athletics. You can bet your sweet bottom dollar that if this were State they would have been killing us in 2011. Yet all we hear today is crickets. How about showing some spine there BOG?

Of course he’s a huge Carolina fan. His favorite UNC player is Roman Gabriel. Seriously.

^ I confess to having no clue what that means.

Gabriel played for State. Get it?

Well Swoff was AD for 4 of the years when cheating was occurring. Therefore he’s responsible, AND when this thing broke no doubt he found out the hard way what actually occurred and tried to squash it.

“The facts describe a widespread and well-coordinated cheating scandal to maintain the eligibility of athletes,” Gurney said. “Far more than I originally imagined.”

Even if it wasn’t the head coaches doing it IT WAS people tied to them. Plausible deniability in this case DOES not deflect the necessity for the institution to pay the price of those who worked in the system and cheated the system.

The 93 banner should come down in addition to 2005 and 2009, board up the dean dome for 5 years and make them go back to carmichael. Add 4 more years of lost scholarships in FB and 5 years for BB 2 scholarships per. Oh and Swoffard needs to be fired for his part in all of this, and you KNOW he had a part, that’s why he was in Indy defending them, trying CYA for himself. And one more thing all UNX apparel would be mandated to include the phrase “The TRUE Carolina way, We’re a bunch of cheaters” in letters at least 2″ tall. Considering what Dean and that bunch did to Valvano in 89 I’d say that would be comparable punishment but a touch on the light side if you ask me.

When you come right down to it until today this was NOT a national story. The only people who cared was abc’ers and the IC bunch. The way this went down today made it front page everywhere. The thing that gets me the most is Swofford KNEW and was complicit.

The number of people who knew AND took advantage of the system both as students and those who were staff of some sort is astounding. While Crowder may have been at the top lots of people who should have known better said nothing OR abused the system. Systemic cheating. The NCAA SHOULD crucify that institution for TOTAL lack of institutional control. Death sentence to football, basketball and women’s basketball. This is the absolute worst case of cheating of any sorts anywhere.

The deny-ers will still deflect and deny. I can hear Dave Glenn now. IC is probably exploding, and the BOT wants to know if this will affect recruiting. Mean while my thoughts are this should cause an implosion … BUT little Carol has it under control, “this will never happen again”. Hey Carol, it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. If you really want to be proactive, take down the banners.

Wainstein’s report stated that for 18 years, no-show paper classes in the African and Afro-American Studies Department were “very popular among student-athletes, and especially those from the revenue sports.”

    WELL DUH!
