WulfpackParticipant
Sobering reality of our place in the pecking order.
WulfpackParticipantDoubt it.
WulfpackParticipantDon’t understand the negativity.
WulfpackParticipantYep. Archie is a Hoosier.
WulfpackParticipantWhat packplantpath said.
There have been a zillion and a half of these guys that did not pan out. If he doesn’t figure out how to coach better D, he’ll just be another in a long line.
WulfpackParticipantCal hired internally.
WulfpackParticipantBoth Carolinas rolling.
WulfpackParticipantGo Butler.
WulfpackParticipantFunny that no one has mentioned the similarity between Keatts resume and Sendek’s.
The more apt comparison is to Gott’s time at Murray State prior to being hired at Bama.
WulfpackParticipantTime will tell with KK, but KY pulled the plug on Gott when many thought she’d let that situation fester until she retired.
Has everyone and their brother forgotten this was after she gave Gott a ridiculous contract extension?
I will indeed give her credit for being decisive on Keatts. What isn’t known is who else, if anyone, was in the mix. And if it really was no one else, well then, that tells you a lot about what coaches think about Yow.
WulfpackParticipantNot EVERYTHING is about politics Roo.
WulfpackParticipantUnderwood just got $3 million at Illinois. It does appear we are on the low end.
WulfpackParticipantACC taking it on the chin.
WulfpackParticipantKeatts would have been at the top of OKS’s list had we not snagged him first.
Maybe. I really have no idea. The point here is that Okie State got caught with their pants down. Pay an NCAA tourney caliber coach below market, drag your feet on an extension, and wham – see you later. I know this is a unique circumstance but people are taking notice.
It would be interesting to compare who an Okie State would be able to hire with a month’s time to
Make the hire. I really have no idea, either.WulfpackParticipantExactly.
WulfpackParticipantMore color on the Underwood poaching. Must read for any AD interested in keeping a hot coach.
WulfpackParticipantIllinois pokes Underwood from Okie State.
WulfpackParticipantKevin Keatts
Spelled with TWO T’s.

10. UNCW 35 839 24.0WulfpackParticipantDid you know UNCW is one of the shortest teams in D1
Yes, which is why they finished last in their league in defensive rebounds.
WulfpackParticipantIt is true – you do not know how unproven coaches are going to pan out. That’s why it is always so high risk/high reward. Bottom line is most don’t pan out. But some do – that’s why you keep rolling the dice to find the diamond in the rough.
However, while results are difficult to predict, you can analyze style of play and recruiting philosophy. Those things tend to hold true once these mid major guys get to the next level – it’s what they know.
UNCW’s style of play, to me, leaves s lot to be desired. Maybe you can be that undersized and win big in the CAA, which is by all accounts a one bid league. But the ACC is a difderent ballgame.
The last thing that really concerns me is he coached with Pitino – a fantasic defensive coach. It did not seem to translate once he got a head job. UNCW, for as good as they have been offensively, is downright awful defensively. Don’t expect that to change in Raleigh. You heard it here first.
WulfpackParticipantIf UNCW had decided to play an ounce of defense, they would have beat UVa easily. But UNCW hasn’t played an ounce of defense all year, so…
WulfpackParticipantYou might want to try spelling his name right. Would be a good start. Just a hint.
WulfpackParticipantGood golly people, his name is Keatts. Note two t’s. Incredible.
WulfpackParticipantInteresting parallels between Gott and Keatts as a matter of fact. By the time Bama plucked Gott away from Murray State, he had won the regular season championship all three years and took them to the NCAAs his last two years. No NCAA wins. Just like Keatts.
