WulfpackParticipant
Agreed. The hockey arena ain’t the problem. Our poor coaching and play is. Amazing that we continue to support it like we do with 30+ years of poor play.
WulfpackParticipantThat is correct, it was not a violation. The rule is that all three “points” must cross the half court line. This means both feet AND the ball. So you can strattle the line with the ball on either side of the line and it would not be a violation. Cory Alexander immediately saw it and said it wasn’t, and it wasn’t. Gotta know the rules.
WulfpackParticipantJim Delaney, the Big 10 commish, is an attorney:
The 64-year old Delany is a native of South Orange, N.J. He received his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of North Carolina in 1970 and juris doctorate degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1973. At UNC, Delany was a three-year member of the varsity basketball team, serving as tri-captain in 1970. As a Tar Heel, Delany twice participated in NCAA Final Four competition.
After earning his law degree, Delany served as counsel for the North Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee from 1973 to 1974, and was staff attorney for the North Carolina Justice Department from 1974 to 1975.
Delany’s distinguished career in administering intercollegiate athletics began at the NCAA where he was employed as an enforcement representative from 1975-79. For the next decade, he served as commissioner of the Ohio Valley Conference.
WulfpackParticipantTony Bennett has to be ACC COY. No? Probably won’t even be close.
WulfpackParticipantTime to get rabid, Wolves.
WulfpackParticipantBilas ??? You GOTT to be kidding….
I believe Pitino publicly campaigned for Bilas as the new Big East commish. He’s bright, engaged, takes a strong stance on NCAA issues, and lives in Charlotte as a practicing attorney. Obvious Duke slant. Not saying he’d be interested, but just thought I’d add that.
WulfpackParticipantThat would be cool. Depending on timing, I could see Jay Bilas showing/getting some interest.
WulfpackParticipantI did not realize having a plan to fix the problem was a requirement of discussing it. Do you apply that to all discussions on this site?
Just pointing out that it is going to take a lot more than an unhappy NC State fanbase to get anything done. Start with Yow, hope she sees it the same way, and perhaps she will take it up the chain. Then try to build broad support among the member institutions. That is the only way. But something tells me most of them are happy, but I could be wrong.
WulfpackParticipantHere is what the ACC Bylaws say:
There shall be a Commissioner who shall be elected by a vote of three-fourths of the Council of Presidents at any regular or special meeting. The Commissioner shall serve as the chief administrative officer of the Conference and shall be responsible to the Executive Committee. The Commissioner shall ensure adherence to the principles of the Constitution and Bylaws by all members of the Conference.
The Commissioner shall perform such duties as are prescribed in the Bylaws and such other duties as may be prescribed by the Executive Committee. The Commissioner shall have the powers necessary for the effective performance of the Commissioner’s duties. The Commissioner shall be paid a salary to be determined by the Conference. The term of the contract, including fringe benefits, shall be recommended by the Executive Committee and approved by two-thirds of the members of the Council of Presidents.
WulfpackParticipantThat’s all I am getting at, foose. I’d like to know the process. I’m guessing it would have to be a majority vote of the university presidents, but who knows.
I just think though with the cash coming in, good schools willingly joining, and the future bright that it would be a tall order. And of course there are two schools very happy with who is in charge.
WulfpackParticipantMost the local media I am hearing would vote for TJ hands down. I think he is going to get it, I really do.
WulfpackParticipantDo you mean ‘how’ or do you mean ‘why’? You ask ‘how?’, you answer ‘why?’
I asked how, and got nothing. How do you guys plan on going about this process of removing Swofford? What is the process for removal of a conference commissioner?
WulfpackParticipantYes. With TJ Warren on our side, anything is possible. Of course, the Cavs shut him down the first time. Doubt they can do it again as he is in the zone, and we’re playing better.
WulfpackParticipantSo much for assuming Duke over Wake.
WulfpackParticipantIt is time for The Swoff to go.
How do you propose making that happen?
The ACC has never been a football conference. Yet FSU just trumped the almighty SEC with a Heisman winning freshman QB and won it all. Clemson is now back to being a top 10 program. It isn’t Swoff’s fault that everyone else can’t get out of their own way. There is zero correlation there. You think he wants everyone else to stink?
And you mention nothing of the addition of Louisville next year. Lest I remind you they cut the nets down last year. And they happen to be pretty good at football too. That was quite the grab, that makes geographical sense, too.
I get that some don’t care for change. But change in this new NCAA landscape is inevitable. In fact, it is necessary for survival.
The ACC was in a perilous position not long ago. But you have to give Swoff credit for changing the tide and ensuring the conference’s survival. We’re all financially better off for it, too. We only lost Maryland. Big deal. We gained a lot.
Way too much “pity NC State” and blame on this blog. Other schools are finding ways to have success. It is possible.
WulfpackParticipantSwoff isn’t going anywhere. He is widely respected amongst his peers and member institutions.
WulfpackParticipantPersonally I would trade Gottfried for Bennett right now.
Yea, but would UVA make that trade. I venture to say, no way. Not now.
K is great because he is a tremendous team builder. Even the NBA guys say this about him. He teaches kids and grown men to play as one, to sacrifice for the good of the team. He is a master at team building. Guys want to go all out for him. They know if they don’t, they’ll sit.
WulfpackParticipantBuckets gets mine, too. As you said in the thread, it is amazing when he actually misses. He is incredible.
Future looks bright if some of our young guns can play like that consistently. Cat and Freeman were each huge for us.
We’ll get an NIT home game at Reynolds.
WulfpackParticipantOnly down five. Not bad all things considered.
WulfpackParticipantFreeman gets us back in it.
WulfpackParticipantI knew this one was going to be difficult to watch.
WulfpackParticipantBoy is the ugly.
WulfpackParticipantVandy with the bail out. Typical.
WulfpackParticipantI just want to see some King Hippo here in the zoo.
WulfpackParticipantThey are not contested threes. That’s the point.
