Providence takes care of St. John’s, possibly putting the Friars in the tournament.

At the same time, the Friars may have just ruined the NCAA chances of our favorite analyst-coach – Steve Lavin.

^Lollllll very fitting way for Maryland to leave the ACC and have their (non-existent) bubble burst at the same time.

You can clearly see Turgeon say “You’ve got to be f*cking sh*tting me” on the replay. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I don’t think we should have to run Lewis/Turner OR Barber/Lee.

^Completely agree. Stubbornness almost cost us the BC game w/r/t not getting the defensive squad out there.

^Haha … first buzzer beater of the day, as Seton Hall pulls the upset over Villanova with a last second jumper. Nova’s 1 seed chances just took a serious hit.

FSU-Maryland coming down to the wire as well.

^^IMO, you are not crazy maverick. I’ve been pining to get Barber time at the 2 lately when the Turner/Lee combo falters or even just to have Barber guard the opposing pg.

As for Turner/Lee, I think Turner has been a net positive over the last half of the season (we simply need his offense in a dire way), and Lee has been steady defensively regardless of his offensive struggles.

^^Barber doesn’t have to play the whole game, and I do think Lewis should be starting. I love our starting line-up – that said, defense will be what helps us to a win tonight and if we seriously want to win the championship then we’ll need to play a lot more defense than we have played.

Minutes shouldn’t be at a premium in this setting, but match-ups certainly are. Lecomte, Swope, Addams, and Brown destroyed us last time out – but it started with Lecomte. We let him do whatever he wanted to with the ball on offense. That can’t happen tonight.

Seton Hall continues to lead Villanova ~ 10 points about 8 minutes into the 2nd half.

ACC Tournament continues to be ugly but close.

As such, we really need to see much more of the alignment we’ve closed games with lately:

Hipster Cat, Des, Buckets, Le Nard, KH

^Agree. Cat, especially will be huge today. If we allow Lecomte and co. to get comfy again early I’ll be furious.

For today especially, I’ll take the hit on offense with having Cat out there. We won the ugly game in Coral Gables. I’ll take another ugly win in Greensboro.

It would be infuriating to leave the ‘no D’ squad out there and fall down by 10 again to this Canes team.

^The Team of the Year Award goes to: Jabari Parker

The Player of the Year Award goes to: Duke

That’s more-or-less what the snobs/elites are saying with their arguments.

Not sure if anyone is around, but UCF and Temple are in OT on Espn2 … that’s not really worth mentioning unless either team makes a miracle run through the American championship.

What is worth mentioning are UCF’s awful uniforms. Perhaps the worst in the modern era … gold pinstrips on solid black? My eyes hurt while watching the game.

Oliver Purnell and DePaul did beat Georgetown, so the Hoyas’ bubble has burst.

North Dakota State won the Summit league championship so you can remove them from consideration.

Of SMU, Providence, St. John’s, Tennessee, and FSU – I think a couple of those find a way to squeak in, so there’s that. (I’d be surprised if SMU is snubbed, but we’ll see what happens).

So long as we don’t lose to Miami I think we would host a game.

But let’s just go ahead and win the ACC tournament 🙂

^UConn won five in five days to win the Big East tourney a few seasons ago and went on to win the NCAA title behind Kemba Walker a few seasons ago.

IIRC, UConn entered that Big East tourney on the bubble (probably in, but a loss early would’ve been dicey).

Here’s an idea, instead of including everyone in the ACCT restrict it to the top 8 teams and have them play on Friday like pre-Les Robinson Invitational. This would revive the ACCT and make it more interesting in no one has an advantage in winning it all. Plus if you’re in middle you know every game is important during the regular season.

^I can’t agree with you. I like having everyone there, with a shot – even if it’s a minimal shot. Inclusion is debatable though I guess. My main point of contention with the ‘Top 8’ idea is that some teams will have benefited greatly from the unbalanced scheduling, while others would have endured a much tougher road.

In addition, in most seasons most/all of the top 8 teams will be locks for the NCAA tourny or on the bubble – in other words, what really would be the point of having the tournament other than giving seeds 6, 7, & 8 a chance of playing their way into the NCAA tournament?

As for today, the games haven’t been great at all, but at least two of them have been close.

Plus, BC has some really cute cheerleaders.

The derp is strong with the start of GT – BC.

Three minutes of play with no score for either team. The poor crowd in attendance gives a mock cheer when BC finally hits a free throw at the 16:51 mark loll.

    ^Hey – I haven’t even been in this thread! 🙂

These will be interesting hires though. App State to Sun Belt for football, but I’m not sure it will be a positive for their basketball program. The program is in flux, and you could see App State languishing at the bottom of that conference for a while. SoCon has turned into a nice low-mid conference, and was a great fit for App State.

I’m not going to go through my basic rant on the importance of OOC scheduling.

^But it never gets old, or unneeded.

    Also, thanks for this work.

^^Ransom nailed it – twas Kelsey Weems. I’ll never forget Weems’ defense on that possession and the subsequent reactions from our squad after they had won. Awesome.

Also agree that we need to go back to our Italian heritage.
