Thanks for that Wufpacker! Needed the laugh.

We will still lose, but the laugh was good.

While it’s nice to win an ACC Championship in anything, it’s especially nice to win one in a sport where we used to be dominant.

Would love to see us dominate in CC, Swimming, Wrestling …

Of course we were going to lose today. That’s who we are. We can have big wins in football and basketball and lose to the worst teams as well.

Unless there is some apocalyptic shift in college sports, I feel we are doomed to this level, never to win another meaningful title.

It’s not Gottfried, Lowe or Sendek. It’s not TOB, Amato or MOC. It’s just good ole mediocre State.

Ahhh . . . what a delightful way to spend an evening, reliving our victory. I think I may watch that whenever I’m having a bad day. Just for a few months 😀

And then when we need to mix it up, we can watch 35-7!

    Thanks for the site SFN.

It’s your site. Do with it what you will.

I for one am ready to move from Dean-was-a-saint to Dean-was-a-chain-smoking-cheater, but I’m old school.

Talking about politics and religion on the internet at large / social media is a total waste of time. Sometimes I can’t help myself and do it, even when I know better.

I am more than happy to engage someone on these topics personally but not on a message board, etc.

I don’t think we are giving up, we just aren’t good enough.

We have one win left (VT), maybe two (Syracuse).

We tend to obsess (at least I do) over Pack bball and fball.

Thanks for a post reminding me about more important things going on in Raleigh.

I guess I’ll own the whiner tag (although I was really whining last night in The Joel when we were down 20+!)

Just a humble suggestion from a one-time Pack blogger 🙂

    Thanks for the info!

I would suggest an improvement in the future. Keep a summary topic at the top of SFN that shows the current state during the day. 21 different topics is good for the rabid recruiting fan but for those of us not so inclined, an “executive summary” helps to understand the current state while linking to the insightful detail pieces.

    Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the post! Would be really interesting to see when State had a 10+ lead after the half. If you jump out to 13-2 three minutes into the game but the game immediately settles into a seesaw battle, that is entirely different from blowing an 11 point lead with three minutes to go.

Perhaps those who questioned my word will now realize my information was not speculation.

I didn’t think I could read something new regarding the RW dead-horse topic, but once again, I’m wrong!

This is about the fourth game where it is very obvious the positive impact Dez Lee has when he is on the court.

While I agree that Dez is valuable, there are two areas where Dez concerns me:
    1) Sometimes he goes into “Purvis-drive” mode and puts his head down and heads for the hole.
    2) Stupid fouls. Sometimes he goes into “Howell-foul” mode.

No, Gary Hahn isn’t the greatest. But I’ve always thought Gary Hahn suffers from the mediocre nature of NC State sports.

At any rate, I think part of Gary’s problem may be vision, at least in football:

Must see graphs on the cheating:
Graph of AFAM sham courses from Wainstein report

Also, see Bob Lee on the theory:
How To Blame It All on Coach K….

(Bob Lee’s formatting is terrible. Skip down to “Desperate Times > Desperate Measures > The Scheme”)

Coach K had won his first two rings in 91 and 92. Dean countered with Montross/Williams in 93 but it was obvious that “K” was not going away and would be a threat of unimaginable proportions. A threat so real that Dean would retool his recruiting for “a different type of student-athlete”. Those “different type of kids” would require a different sort of “handling”. That special “handling” being The Scheme.

Thanks for sharing! Good one by Tim.

His thoughts of academics: “I’m not in the business of fouling kids up. I like to have a close relationship with my players. It’s important for players not to always see their coach in a three-piece suit. I’d like them to see them come over to my house and see my wife make me take the garbage out. Self-image is so important. I consider myself fairly intelligent. I like the theater. I like to read. I like to have conversation with the academic community. I like to feel good about me. Basketball is not my whole life. I want [my players] to understand that someday the cheering is going to stop. My job is to prepare them for that. When you get your first job at IBM, they don’t say, ‘Here comes No. 10, at left desk.’”

His had this right — it just got out of whack with him being both the Coach and AD.

What a ride with Coach V…

Watching that in person was comical. Got a last minute invite and sat on WF’s hill. The best football was played by my youngest and other boys on the hill, not by the teams on the field.

That’s why four teams is good, and eight — the power 5 conference champions and three at large teams — is best.

Agree except I would make it:
    P5 conf champs + best non-P5 + 2 at-large
