Loyal to a fault? We are as long as things are going right maybe. You can’t make that statement if we’re going to a boo your coach in front of the players in your own arena. Look, I had seen enough by half time of the FIRST carolina game to know Gottfried needed to go. Let’s all show true Wolfpack class and wish Gottfried well – somewhere else.
wolfbuffParticipantIs this news? I thought I read a couple of weeks ago he would be out longer than the original 6-8 week estimate, putting him in the middle of the ACC season. Then how long will it take to get him in playing shape and in the flow (as if there was one) of the offense?
wolfbuffParticipantThe plethora of bowl games is analogous to participation trophies for youth leagues, only at the college level. I guess it’s that generation that started getting them, so seems about right. Alas, the pussification of America continues…
wolfbuffParticipantAvg attendance for Duke is 52,708? That must be a typo. Or maybe the “estimate” by someone at UNC
09/08/2015 at 12:47 PM in reply to: “The most despicable act I have ever seen on a football field” #88413wolfbuffParticipantHere’s an idea: let the investigation happen before condemning these two guys and anyone who ever knew them to purgatory. It looks bad and probably is bad, but none of us knows all the facts yet. Video is a whole lot more damning than a hooker’s testimony, but it looked bad for the Duke Lacrosse team a few years ago…until it didn’t. Set your emotion and opinions aside and wait for all the facts to emerge.
wolfbuffParticipantDry run for the Halloween game against Klimpsun?
wolfbuffParticipantOthers have said it, and I’ll say it. The NCAA has no interest in killing one of its golden geese. The UNCheat men’s basketball team brings in a considerable amount of revenue for the university and the NCAA. And the NCAA is all about making as much money as possible, not creating an environment of fairness or enforcing rules. They’re in this together.
The NCAA relies on the institutions to police themselves and, failing that, the court of public opinion. To some degree the embarrassment this has caused UNCheat at least wipes the smug grin off their faces and makes “the Carolina way” a punchline.
So, the NCAA will throw the women’s team under the bus because they don’t generate revenue for the NCAA (and possibly slap the football around a little – because they’re irrelevant anyway) and claim that they are “upholding the foundational values of college athletics” or some other such pompous statement. But they won’t touch the men’s basketball or women’s soccer or baseball programs, all of which benefiited from the academic fraud.
06/08/2015 at 6:08 PM in reply to: Dorn to State; Gottfried continues winning the transfer game #87253wolfbuffParticipantIt definitely is a game, but I don’t know if anyone really “wins” the transfer game. Guys transfer out, other guys transfer in. Call it a tie. Like soccer. But I digress. Some leave early, some redshirt and stay for 4 years. On the downside, you never know what the team is going to look like from year to year. On the upside, it gives us something to talk about in the offseason. It is what it is.
wolfbuffParticipantWhiteshoes, I agree that Cat needs to score more. And it needs to come from the outside, but not necessarily 3s. He was starting to develop a nice 16-18 foot jumper last year. What happened to that? He’s extremely single dimensional right now and it’s impacting his ability to drive. That said, even when he does he throws up ill-advised shots rather than dish. He had 3 or 4 of his soft layups blocked last night.
The bigger question to me is not why Cat didn’t play so much, but why he held Kyle Washington out so much in the second half. He was crushing it in the 1H and was not in any foul trouble. I know they went small but we lost both defense and post scoring when he was out. Maybe with him in there (and a little better help defense) Grant doesn’t get so many uncontested layups.
NIT, here we come!
wolfbuffParticipant“As an aside, Lance Armstrong’s foundation did virtually nothing on the cancer fight and it was all a front for publicity for him. So it was a complete sham just like he was…and just like UNC-Cheat is.”
Now that we’re off on that tangent, to be fair, fighting cancer was never the mission of the Livestrong Foundation. The Livestrong Foundation states that its mission is ‘to inspire and empower’ cancer survivors and their families. The foundation also aims to provide support to guide people through the cancer experience. As of 2005, the foundation began phasing out its support of cancer research, and as of 2010, it no longer accepted research proposals.
I’m not defending Lance in any way, but let’s stick to the facts.
As for Sylvia, I see she’s perfected the art of the “Did I mention I have cancer?” bob and weave.
wolfbuffParticipantAt first I thought “someone really likes those games against Jackson St., Hofstra, Jacksonville, and South Florida (JACKSON STATE !, HOFSTRA !) But then I saw those were footnotes. I usually use numbers when footnoting, but then again, I’m not a SID. Yeah, yeah, picky I know.
wolfbuffParticipantGames with Duke make sense from a tradition and geographic perspective, but I’d prefer us to develop a rivalry with VaTech if we are going to stay in conference for some of these games.
wolfbuffParticipantThrow in the Naval Sciences paper classes (that everyone seems to have forgotten about) and a version of “In the Navy” by Tyler “Chicken Little” Travelbrough and you have a real life Village People over there on the hill.
05/03/2014 at 12:42 PM in reply to: NC State spring football wrap – bowl appearance not unrealistic #51708wolfbuffParticipantI don’t understand the comments about Yow. All she did was go get one of the hottest young coaches. That said, I remain concerned about the obvious disorganization on the sideline last season. I did not notice it at the spring game, so maybe they have things figured out. I think our record will be better than last year but whether we are a better team depends on better execution and adaptability from the sideline.
wolfbuffParticipantI got my tickets during the presale also, probably within an hour of the email. Nothing left in the grandstands, so we’re front row down the RF line. I’m gonna wear Skye slap out.
wolfbuffParticipantKudos to Debbie and Bubba for arranging this game. It would have been a sham(e) for these two teams not to have played this year. F you Swofford! Now how about a non conf series against Duke in football?
I got my front row tickets and am going to wear out the tarholes’ right fielder!
wolfbuffParticipantGood idea, Yogi. Or to take the wolf eyes even further, make the face mask part of a snarling wolf mouth as well. That way when you’re looking at it face on, you’re looking into the face of a wolf.
wolfbuffParticipantI don’t like the 3-wolf design. What I think would look cool is the wolf on the rock howling, like the statue in side the stadium. Of the 3, I like the block S one the best.
