Taggart said yesterday that there is a possibility of Mike White starting against NCSU this week. “If he’s cleared he will start” said Taggart. Taggart named the incumbent QB the starter after a fall camp competition that Taggart had referred to as a dead heat. If White isn’t cleared, junior Penn State transfer Steven Bench will start against the Pack. The QBs are similar, but neither has the ability of Taylor Heinicke. TB Marlon Mack could be more than a handful, however.
WolfanaticParticipantRemember how stubborn Lovie was about Rex Grossman in Chicago? My worst fear is that he will be that way about McCown. McCown looked like a “stinker” yesterday with his two rookie mistakes that I doubt Glennon would have made. Glennon, while sometimes criticized, a bit unfairly I believe, last year by the local media, for his lack of mobility, he was praised by the same media for not doing what McCown did yesterday. I haven’t heard about the severity of Mankins injured knee, but if he’s out for a while, I’m not sure I want to see Mike behind that line. He had no line, running game, or depth at receiver last year, and so far the first two corps don’t appear to be much improved. I guess it will take an injury for Mike to get in the game as long as the “Second Coming of Dungy” is in charge.
WolfanaticParticipantWulfpack, you said “Boy Glennon must be in the dumps. Lovie made it clear he wasn’t high on him.”
I’m curious as to where you heard this, or are you inferring that Lovie isn’t high on him because he’s not starting?
I’m a Bucs fan and a daily reader of the Tampa Bay Times. Now, I’m disappointed that Mike is the backup, but Lovie was clear when he named McCown the starter back in January and again before the draft: ” Just talking about our quarterback position: our quarterback position is as strong as, to me, any quarterback position I’ve had when I’ve been a head coach,” Smith said. “You know how much I like Josh McCown as our starter here, but I love Mike Glennon. Mike Glennon is our quarterback of the future here. Why would we want to add a third quarterback to the mix?”The Bucs used pick number 7 in the draft to take Mike Evans. Manziel, Bridgewater, and Carr were all available to them, but they passed on them all. When you add in the fact that Bucs GM Jason Licht revealed that they had rebuffed trade offers from “at least a half-dozen teams for quarterback Mike Glennon, some of which inquired multiple times during the three day draft,” then you kind of have to take Lovie and Jason at their word. Lovie has said numerous times that Mike is the QB of the future, but that he felt that Mike needed some veteran tutoring. If you look back to the dumpster fire that was the 2013 Bucs, you have to admit that Josh Freeman was no help to Mike, and in fact, Mike was literally thrown into that fire in game number four. I’m going to thrust Lovie on this, due to the fact that he could have drafted a QB, or perhaps traded for one to backup McCown. For the time being I’m going to trust Lovie on his QB of the future words.
WolfanaticParticipantSpeaking of recruiting, in what is definitely some sweet tasting schadenfreude, it seems that Kyrin Priester has been kicked off the Clemson team by coach Dabo due to “an attitude that is not acceptable to our standards.” Said Swinney, “Just a poor attitude. No respect for authority.” Recall that Priester gave State a verbal, flipped to Clemson, and verbally trashed State saying; “I believe Clemson has better coaching than N.C. State, and I’ll get more exposure there. Clemson is better than N.C.State. That’s point blank, period.” The former four star also did not qualify academically last year, and had to attend Fork Union Military Academy. I thought you were supposed to learn a bit about respecting authority at a military academy. I guess times have indeed changed. I wander where the schmuck will get more “exposure” now.
WolfanaticParticipantAnother game ball for Hakim Jones.. His last tackle (out of 12 I believe) on Javian Upshaw was a game saver

You see, when I was a a Wolfpack freshman back in 1972, I picked up the bourgeois (spit…choke) habit of chewing Red Man chewing tobacco (spit)… After years of re-education on a beet farm in Utah, I have come to understand my obligations to political correctness for the benefit of the collective…I no longer mock our native American friends by chewing an obvious racially offensive corporate (spit) product. No, rest assured that I am a loyal goose-stepping, in line, good little liberal-fascist comrade. I have seen the evil capitalistic, profiteering pigs abuse my fellow proles. I switched..I no longer chew Red Man (spit). I started smoking American Spirit cigarettes.. I sleep so much better now that I have been re-educated and I have seen the eternal light that Glorious Dear Leader holds like a beacon in the night…puff.. puff.. pass.. pass
WolfanaticParticipantMay he win at Valhalla…cheers…
WolfanaticParticipantIn an unrelated story today, Wolfpacker Timmy Clark won the RBC Canadian Open…. That makes him eligible for the WGC Bridgestone Championship next week, and the PGA the following week…What a happy happy day… the putts on 16, 17, and 18 were as clutch as Dave and Don hooking up…

WolfanaticParticipantRodney Hood is a goon….He forechecked TJ to the head twice before he was penalized for checking him into the boards when TJ wanted the puck, in the first half…And the Rat complained to the refs..he spends more time talking to the refs than he does his team..
WolfanaticParticipantThe Pack left nothing on the court..I’m proud of them….
WolfanaticParticipantPine Needles Don’t Cry…..
WolfanaticParticipantWufpacker, the bulldog with the “Today has been Rough” caption appears to be Duffnering…
WolfanaticParticipantLovie, OC Jeff Tedford, and QB Coach Marcus Arroyo have all given Glennon high praise in the TB Times for his play last year… It’s possible that Lovie is fishing because a QB will be there at no.7, and if they have no intent of drafting one, then a trade might be worked out..Or perhaps that’s my wishful thinking…
WolfanaticParticipantDoes Clemson even recruit our continent?
WolfanaticParticipantWashington’s “hook” shot at times, resembles more of a volleyball spike as opposed to a shot. I don’t see a lot of touch when he attempts it. It would be nice to see him get a bit of air beneath it. I do think he is going to be a very good player for State for some time to come. It would be comforting to see him develop that shot and become more of an offensive threat inside.
WolfanaticParticipantI’ll happily take the win, albeit ugly , it still beats a loss. And in a couple of months I’ll have forgotten just how ugly..Move on..Is this team the prettiest girl at the prom? Not by a long shot, but she might be next year, or the year after. She does have potential..
Now, on another angle, for those that figure the refs have it in for State, then why for God’s sake did they not call a foul on Washington on Brown’s last shot of the game? He crushed Brown. You have to wonder what was going through his freshman brain by even getting within 5 feet of Brown..3 shots to make 2….Guess the refs didn’t want to go back to the monitor for another 7 minutes…
WolfanaticParticipantI’m in….But can we run the Whirley-bird again?
WolfanaticParticipantWillie truly was a Beast of Burden for the Pack. Willie certainly carried the load for the Pack. Best wishes and prayers for the 1973 ACC Player of the Year….
