This morning’s Tampa Bay Times has State going to the Belk Bowl to face Florida. I bet JB would like that match up…Also has Miami going to the Bitcoin Bowl. It would seemingly be best for both Bowls that way, at least attendance-wise.

Wufpup76, thanks for the effort. I’ve had some posts that would not post either. Not sure why. Anyway, I found some info on Boise

Just a few numbers and thoughts….Boise should be a good test in the line of Richmond. Consensus in Vegas is the Pack -7.5 The Broncos can put some points up, but they don’t seem to have much of an affinity for rebounding or defense. They’re tied for 294th in rebounding, averaging 31.4 boards per game, compared to #5 State averaging 46.8. Our average of 15.8 offensive boards doubles theirs. They rank #282 in scoring defense, allowing 72.8 ppg while State allows an average of 60.4 The Nagurskis rank 275th in 3 pt FG Defense (36.9%), State ranks 107th at 29.8%. They allow 46.0% on FGs inside the arc, State allows 35.2%

Their leading scorer and rebounder is 6’6″ SR F Anthony Drmic (yes, I spelled that correctly) with 16.8ppg and 5.0 boards. He has hit 13 of his 31 3ptFG attempts this year (.419) Nick Duncan (6’8″ F) has hit 11 of 24 treys. The two combine for over half of Boise’s 40 threes this year. Freshman 6’10” David Wacker has started 4 of their five games at center. He averages 5.6 pts, 3.8 boards and has only one block in 91 minutes. Boise has a total of 10 blocked shots in 5 games. Guards Derrick Marks and Mikey Thompson seem solid. Marks is 6-11 on his threes and leads the team with 13 assists. He averages 15.8ppg Thompson leads the team in turnovers with 10 and steals with five.

So, it seems that they pay lip service to defense, don’t rebound well, and don’t bother too many shots. Obviously, one of the keys to stopping them is keeping a hand in Drmic’s face, and keeping him off balance. He is their go to man. The Broncs shoot.742 from the charity stripe. If State does its normal job of window cleaning and plays defense like it did in the second half of the Richmond game, I think they’ll cover the spread..Go Pack!

^ Indeed, it should be a good test, both from a team and individual standpoint. There should be some good match-ups inside with Anya and Alonzo Nelson-Ododa (6’9″) who is a pretty decent shot blocker in his own right. Freeman and/or Washington taking on second leading scorer T.J. Cline (6’9″) will also be interesting. Cat/Lacey taking on leading scorer Kendall Anthony (16.0 ppg) and ShawnDre’ Jones should also be good tests for them. As wufpup76 alluded to, this is a scrappy, tough Spiders team with a good RPI. I’m banking on State controlling the boards, and think we cover the five.

Baylor: FSU and the JA Buckeyes don’t want them

It was a lackluster victory for the Buckeyes over bottom-feeding Indiana (0-7, 4-8) today at Columbus. The game was close late in the 4th quarter. Last week, the Buckeyes nipped the Golden Varmints by seven and leapfrogged Baylor, who apparently was penalized by the CFP committee of “experts” for having a bye. A solid victory by Baylor over Okie State tonight, coupled with the Buckeyes’ marginal win, should allow Baylor to jump back in front of OSU. OSU allowed Hoosier running back Tevin Coleman to run for 228 yds and a couple of scores.

    tOSU sucks out loud.

Indeed, a Hoosier victory, while doubtful, would make my day….The first half is not helping OSU’s feeble argument. Herbie is probably crying like a wuss…

Comrade, I have just finished my re-education, and I was wondering if it is acceptable to enjoy a quality potato vodka (bootleg, of course) while watching this Everton, or may one only consume the Party-rationed beet vodka? tia..

Yesterday, the NCAA put Weber State on probation for three years, reduced scholarships for the football program, and imposed at least $5000.00 in fines after it found out that a math instructor improperly helped football players with course work, quizzes and tests.

It seems that Weber State’s academic crimes pale in comparison to those committed at UNC. Sadly, I imagine that their penalty probably will too.

Not to nitpick, but saying that Muschamp is stepping down is a bit ambiguous, and infers that he made a decision to do so. AD Foley fired Muschamp on Sunday morning after the loss to The University of Stupid Chickens on Saturday. Will agreed to coach the final two regular season games, but not the bowl game, which ends up being a shame because I have seen some bowl projections that had State playing Florida in the Duck Commander Independence Bowl in Shreveport. I wonder how JB would feel about a Pack-Gator match-up, with or without Muschamp.

Maybe Foley should look in the mirror. Yeah, I know, he hired Urban Meyer, but Urban had previous head coaching experience. However, his other two hires, Ron Zook and Muschamp had no head coaching experience, and UF paid the price for those faux pas.

BJD95, I had considered that the bandleader was responsible, but it doesn’t seem to coincide with the bands activity, and the fact that it happens as soon as the ref’s whistle blows to stop the plat leaves ones perplexed. It only seems to be a Pack thing..I dunno..

Question: Does anyone know the significance of the 5-6 quick blows on a whistle at the end of every play that seem to be coming from our sideline? I only hear them on TV at Wolfpack games.
