Whiteshoes67Participant
Or throw in a wrinkle on defense. In the half court, better deny Hanlan, maybe play a little Triangle and 2, chasing him and the other guard
Whiteshoes67ParticipantTau, you’re right. They haven’t posted him yet, but I suspect it’s coming. It’s not a great matchup for Cat, as good as he is. I still say lee is a better matchup. And I’d go smaller, try to speed it up, and press and trap. BC is smarter than us. Turn this into a track meet, better try to out-athlete them and wear them down.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantWe’ve made some horrid offensive teams like Clemson and BC look really good this year.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantIts hard not to question the bb IQ of staff and a few players when we repeatedly outdo ourselves in the dumb department. We fool ourselves into thinking we’re good collectively on defense. We’re not.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantI’d go smaller and press, press, press..Bet we wait too late to implement. Truthfully, we don’t have a good matchup for Hanlan. He’ll post Barber and back him down. Lee is probably the best option. Go small in 2nd half. Please.
Whiteshoes67Participant40 in a half to that bunch…inexcusable
Whiteshoes67ParticipantHaving KW and RT in game simultaneously is just an invitation for bad shot selection and horrible defense. Our offense should be to clear out for Barber and Lacy. IF the latter would use his frame to attack the basket instead of pulling up, settling for jumpers, he’d get far more room to maneuver.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantSub-30 in a half versus that bunch is abysmal
Whiteshoes67ParticipantBC has pretty much been in every game in the second half this year. Similar to GT, they’ve lost a bunch of close ones. Not the best matchup for us because they have big guards. But they have little quality depth, so you have to push tempo, and push Hanlan on defense. Getting outrebounded by them is shameful. Should be pressing and attacking off dribble. Pace of play hurts us more than it helps. I’m of the opinion that milking the clock versus UNC wasn’t really strategy, and I’ve seen nothing to that effect. We always play relatively slow. UNC just isn’t bad defensively, and our half court sets sucked. We just have a Cat.

Whiteshoes67ParticipantSomebody better buy Anya whatever the hell he wants to eat. Same for Abu. Cat had always been a favorite, but he’s blossoming into an all-aMercian calibre PG. F u to all the honkies who bemoaned the transfer of the leprechaun
Whiteshoes67ParticipantLike that bunch in gott’s first year who really amped up their defense during the second half of conference play, this bunch is following suit. We can be a top 50 defense with the right matchups, sub patterns, and effort. And that was man to man all night except for two possessions with about 6:00 to go, with Paige out.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantGreedy bastard that I am, I still was wishing for a total humiliation. I wanted more empty seats in that blue hell at the end of game
Whiteshoes67ParticipantGott was trying to strategically rest some key players during the unc run. I think that’s as good a game as I’ve seem him manage. Id love to see this group put that defensive effort together with some quality offense and win out the regular season, and make nice run. Winning when shots aren’t falling is the trademark of a good team.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantGive gott credit on the timeouts and defensive strategy. We sagged off tokoto all night and clogged up the interior. Cat was awesome on Paige.
But gott also almost ran us into trouble subbing out for cat, not resting the bigs adequately I’m stretches. We executed 2 out of 3 game keys. Shot selection still blows. We shoulda ran them out of the gum tonight.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantCat and the bigs were the difference. Nice gameplan defensively. We had no answer for the screen and roll game early in the second half but royboy fortunately had his head up his arse
Whiteshoes67ParticipantUnc wasn’t at its best tonight but this was a good year to get em. Just surprised as hell at how well we rebounded and defended. Offense and shot selection, as usual, left a lot to be desired. I’d have rather seen is snowplow those assholes into oblivion.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantF every last one of them light blue cheatin mutha fookers
Whiteshoes67ParticipantOdds on Winning in chapel hill = a snowball’s chance in hell.
Never could’ve imagined gottfried and this bunch could score under 60 and win. I’m dumbfounded. It is a miracle
Whiteshoes67ParticipantI admire our defensive effort tonight. A little unexpected. But this is one of the ugliest games I’ve watched in years. We may win in spite of ourselves.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantNeed V to call in every favor he can upstairs. We need all the good juju he can mustet
Whiteshoes67ParticipantGame keys. Get physical with their bigs. They’re skilled and long but they’re also soft. Don’t think this is a game for frenchie, who I like. We need to attack their bigs on offense. Cat need to be cat and do what he do. Match or dominate Paige. Turner and lacy must have good shot selection, and we could use big games from the twins.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantAgain, what’s astounding about gottfried’s teams is their offensive efficiency despite their often poor shot selection. Other than wood in years 1-2, Williams in 1, and turner last year, we’ve not been a good 3pt shooting team. Now we are, but we frequently take contested deep 3s early in the shot clock. And our bigs, once a strength struggle to finish or attack the basket. We take too many jump shots, and get too little going to the basket, in the paint, and at the line. When your defense blows, that’s not a recipe for success. The duke wins are anomalies.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantNot responsive to the coaching and criticism of teammates. But why should you if the boss ultimately isn’t going to reward or discipline accordingly? If there’s anything to this, it’s just yet another example of bad management.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantNo surprises. Shot selection and defense are the most glaring problems for this team. This is a constant among gottfrieds pack teams. Been commented on at length by many folks on here.
I suspect that if you look at conference play, the gaps are even wider. Even though we’ve played a tough schedule, some of those fg% numbers are skewed by the weakest of our non-conference opponents.
