Whiteshoes67Participant
Great game.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantSomebody please pull webber’s mike.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantI think next year will say a lot about gott and co. Should be very little player turnover. Barring injuries, the pieces will be in place.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantI had krugers sooners coming out of this bracket anyway. He was my #2 behind Marshall last coaching search.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantI didn’t look at the line but Cat not 100% made us a dog in this one. Needed him with his A game.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantCat not being 100% hurt on both ends. That explains the weird lineup I had questions about. It was clear his legs weren’t there. It threw off matchups defensively also. I think we beat then 7 out 10, which is why this stings
Whiteshoes67ParticipantNice stretch run for this team. Still room for optimism if these pieces are still in place next year. Just feels like a golden opportunity lost.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantHate cat wasn’t at his best. Still feels like we left that one on the table
Whiteshoes67ParticipantShot selection and defense not where they need to be. Ball movement against the matchup zone was bad most of night. Give gott some credit for getting kW in the middle in the first half, but the second half lineups for stretches were beyond bad. Zone on d seemed out of place. Outplayed, out coached. I hate to agree with Kenny smith, but he said it best at the half. With our guards, there’s no excuse for not attacking the matchup zone better and having better shot selection. Frustrating to watch.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantPitino will attack Cat when they have the ball early and often, and they’ll definitely look to trap him some, get the ball out of his hands when we have it. I do think Pitino was left scratching his head during the first matchup, perplexed and caught off guard more than just a little, so it will be interesting to see what he comes up with. Louisville doesn’t have near the firepower on offense that Duke has, so I don’t expect to get run over in any scenario. Their quality depth is also down. They can’t exactly come at you in waves as in years past.
Whiteshoes67Participant^100% agree with tjfoose. If this team and staff think we can simply show up and do what we did in Game 1 versus Pitino and Co, I think we’re in trouble. See Duke.
Louisville hasn’t been a good offensive team, with or without Jones, but they’re solid defensively. Two keys for us are the same. Good shot selection and solid defensive effort. Been fairly good limiting turnovers, but anything that lets them get out into transition, where they can score easier, helps their offense. Blackshear and Harrell don’t scare me. Key matchups are Cat vs. Rozier and Pitino vs. Gottfried. Better be prepared for some more matchup zone boys.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantMy 4 month old wore his lucky pack outfit. Wife had him ready to go.
Major props to team and coaches. Gott gets a big high five for not pulling cat after the quick third. Have always loved what des brings to the table. Jaime Dixon gave him a nice nod in the postgame.
Whiteshoes67ParticipantChannel the magic lo and v
Whiteshoes67ParticipantWhen the numbers are there, still gotta attack the pressure. And no open 3s
Whiteshoes67ParticipantThank you gott for not yanking da daddy cat after the quick third. All in, all night. Send their asses packin
Whiteshoes67ParticipantMajor props to team effort. Dez lee, aod, and twin 1 big
Whiteshoes67ParticipantGreat half on d. Lost a few shooters but reminiscent of unc. I hate sitting players in first half with 2 fouls, especially in a win-or-go-home scenario. Our o stagnates when cat not in. If he picks up a quick third, or early fourth, I pray we go all in
Whiteshoes67ParticipantI agree with the sentiment. The biggest frustration for me is it’s very clear that this bunch would lay down for one another and gott. But you’ve got to take that love and special bunch of parts, push them, and refine it into a well oiled machine. I don’t see that, win or lose most nights. I want cats toughness and fearlessness in everybody, a recognition of roles by everyone not named Lenard, and a little discipline. Gimme that and you gott something that can really dance
Whiteshoes67ParticipantYou’re on the 8-9 line for a reason. 2 very similar teams. Both capable od laying turds or looking like a top 10 club. They shat themselves worse in the second than we did in the first. Maybe we get rolling next round. Not sure we turned it over 10 times in a half all season, so maybe we got the yips out
Whiteshoes67ParticipantMy criticism of lacy doesn’t take away how pivotal he is. The point is that shot selection and defense still remain the biggest challenges for this team
Whiteshoes67ParticipantAs I said all year, cat didn’t shoot enough from 3 last season or early this year. He was never a sub 30% shooter from 3. Defenses sagged on him. Learning you can’t blow by everyone is far different than settling for early step back threes and long jumpers. He’s learned. Which is my point. The comparison is apt. Lacy doesn’t have the accelerator but he uses his body to get into the lane well. His decision making gas zilch to do with how he’s defended or shot selection. Zip
Whiteshoes67ParticipantBill, Lacy’s shot selection has worsened and willingness to attack the rim diminished. He can get a shot virtually anytime, but knowing when and where to pick his spots isn’t a strength. Cat already shows better judgement in two years
Whiteshoes67ParticipantOh my. V and lo, channel. Lsu wins the dunce award
Whiteshoes67ParticipantCat isolation. Anything else is dumb
Whiteshoes67ParticipantWho will win the dunce award? It’s a heckuva of contest.
