I lost several IQ points just reading this drivel.

wp76: I was going to give OP some time to back up their claims, but it’s just as well that the topic is closed.

    Ain’t no magic bullet.

No, but recruiting ACC-level talent and filling the allowed 13 scholarships would help.

    When we expected them back…

It was always a horrible assumption to assume that everyone would be back. People that are foolish enough to make this assumption will usually be disappointed.

The inability to recruit freshmen good enough that they could expect to earn some playing time is disconcerting. While it is foolish to extrapolate from one data point…it is still a bad data point.

Since no one has been the smart*** yet, I guess it’s up to me…..

Would someone like to explain again why it is OK that we have no incoming freshmen?

Color me surprised losing two kids early. Who would have ever ever ever thought this could happen.

I trust that this is sarcasm.

I was laughing at the thoughts of Herb going to Bowling Green….ie back to the MAC where he belongs.

Not much but it’s a little something:

Freshman running back Reggie Gallaspy II ran for 131 yards while rising junior Matt Dayes nearly racked up 100 total yards in North Carolina State’s spring game Saturday.

Go to dpreview.com and look at the reviews. I don’t know a lot about Pentax DSLRs, but dpreview rated their K-3 among the top’s in its class. They give the top cameras a “gold award” and those a step back a “silver”.

    http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/pentax-k-3/17

If you are happy with your lenses, then you will probably be happy their latest offerings. But when I was picking a brand several years ago, the Pentax lens lineup was lacking. But as long as you have, or can get, the lenses you need for what you are interested in shooting, then it might not be worth jumping ship. But it all depends on your personal preferences and budget because there are some good deals available.

For instance, Nikon’s low-end, two-lens kit with last year’s model is only $527 at B&H: (Sliver Award Winner)

If you have questions, it looks like you can get at least two opinions on Nikon’s lineup. But I’m absolutely no help on Canon products.

Ground out to the right side to advance the runner for the second out.
    Pop-out ends the inning.

Terrible performance after a lead-off double.

Pretty much everyone that never takes photos expects to get them for free. After all, they didn’t cost you anything.

I also can’t imagine ever buying the “current” model ever again. The previous model will most likely have everything that I will need and it’s unlikely that the newest model has something that I can’t live without.

Really nice press conference from Doreen. Enjoyed that more than 99% of everything that I’ve ever heard from any coach because Doreen comes across as a straight shooter.

I seriously doubt that I will ever go full-frame. Since I shot a lot of sports (and other stuff) with a 6mp D40, I’m not seeing the need. The D7000 came with the 18-140mm lens which will stay on >95% of the time (now that there is no need for soccer pics).

Nikon guru, Thom Hogan, has said that a good number of camera owners have hit what he calls the “last camera syndrome”. Meaning that they are happy enough with their current camera that they are no longer interested in upgrading. They’ll only buy a new camera when their current one breaks. I hit that point with a very-old D40, because I could use it to take better pics than most people ever got and the 50mm/f1.8 took care of indoor sports.

I wasn’t actively looking to buy, but the D7000 deal was too good to pass up. Which might be a adjunct to Thom’s last camera syndrome…ie I’ll upgrade when you give me a price that I can’t refuse.

Best Buy had a closeout on a Nikon D7000 (one model older than current) for $629 (with a $500 lens) and I snapped one up. A week or so later Nikon announced the D7200, which made my “new” camera two models out-of-date…and I couldn’t possibly care less.

The only problem is that my kids are in college and I don’t have any sports that need shooting….but I love the camera.

It’s a step up in salary and exposure. If he does well he won’t be there long.

It’s not like Herb left some huge Dean Smith like legacy he has to overcome.

I don’t think ANYONE has left a legacy of excellence at ASU.

The thing you have to balance is what will happen to your career if you ~fail~ at ASU like everyone else?
Will this be your one shot at a power conference school like Jeff Jones at UVA?
Will you get a second shot like Gott if things go badly?
Would you be better off if you waited for a top tier job like Shaka did at Texas?

Of course, giving up Buffalo for Phoenix would certainly be a no-brainer for most people.

I got interested in photography when I tried to take pictures of my kids playing sports. Little did I know at the time that sports (especially indoors) are among the hardest/expensive things to get good photos of. So the fabulous photos caught my interest and the entire site serves as a stark reminder of where State’s athletic dept stood just a few short years ago.

I’d say the collective State fan base knows BS when it’s said or displayed rather well; plenty of experience having it shoved down our throats from many different angles.

This was a bridge too far.

There is plenty of evidence that there is a segment of the State fan base that will always ignore whatever is required to maintain their own, distorted world view. Even Sidney Lowe had adherent supporters long past most had given up hope.

Probably this one; but the Duke/NCSU game is another good example

    February 24, 1979: #6 Duke 47, #4 North Carolina 40

Jim Spanarkel’s Senior Day game turned into one of the strangest afternoons in ACC basketball history as Duke held Carolina scoreless for a half before knocking off the No. 4-ranked Tar Heels 47-40. Dean Smith resorted to the four corners offense and the Tar Heels held the ball throughout the first half, but Duke led 7-0 as Spanarkel forced two turnovers, assisted on a basket to Mike Gminski and scored the last bucket of the half on a short jumper. (Smith later said, “It should have been 2-0, or something like that, at the half.”) Carolina’s only two shots of the first half were air balls, that resulted in the first-ever chants of “Air ball . . . Air ball!” from the Cameron Crazies. Sparnakel added 15 points in the second half and finished with a game-high 17, hitting 8-of-9 field goal attempts. The win allowed Duke to tie North Carolina for the ACC regular season title.

Duke coach Bill Foster wasn’t amused by Smith’s tactics in the first half and the next day said, “I’ve been doing this a long time, but during the first half last night I began to think maybe I’ve been doing it for too long.” He then added this infamous dig: “I thought Naismith invented basketball, not Deansmith.”

No shot clock would be a disaster….I’m flashing back to a Duke/UNC game that was something like 12-10 at half.
