How/why did a “Fairfield” get on our schedule?

I’ve got that same question about a number of teams. The December games seem way too easy.

Giving up on ESPN3. Volume turned down on tablet and turned on Tune-In app We’ll have to see how the audio/video sync on those occasions when video shows up.

Which brings up another question. When did State quit trying to sell the on-line radio broadcasts?

NFL choices suck here today. Cincy/Steelers and Lions/Giants. Give-a-shit meter pegged low.

After starting the game with an air ball from 3; State shooting well from outside. Too frequently that means that State will stop running the offense and start flinging threes.

No arrests were made, no charges were filed and a restraining order put in place by the woman was lifted by a judge after a settlement on Nov. 2.

From chop’s article, it’s not obvious why this matter wasn’t considered closed at this point. But in the aftermath of Baylor incidents, the school probably felt that it had to do something. I’m sure that the response by the FB team was completely unexpected.

But this week, the school’s Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action recommended suspending those four players and six others, saying they violated school conduct standards.

I wish the article had detailed exactly what “school conduct standards” were violated.

Ray Buford Jr., KiAnte Hardin, Dior Johnson, Tamarion Johnson and Djam were also recommended for expulsion.

Someone thought that something was seriously wrong. We just aren’t given enough details to draw our own conclusion.

Thanks for taking the time to put together this terrific series. I’m always amazed at how much time I end up putting into an entry for the first page, so I have some appreciation for how long this must have taken.

    Really, really excellent work.

Yes Va Wolf – I know. You expect the past to be a solid indicator of future results.

I wouldn’t go quite that far. I expect a long career to clearly define “average”. Peak seasons can still happen.

The best example of this is UNLV and Tark. I used to say that Tark/UNLV would never win a NC because their run/gun offense would always run into a better team. That was true until they had three first round picks on the same team…and none of them were freshmen. And even that team couldn’t repeat as NC’s.

Gso – if we don’t get a top 6 seed in the tournament or a top 4 finish in the acc this year, I don’t have a lot of confidence that gott can deliver it on any kind of consistent basis.

State will have to improve A LOT to get a 6th place ACC finish. It might happen….

My confidence level in Gott is based on his whole career, not just this season.

If you heard G’moron mention that TS was the last top-100 team in State’s OOC schedule, then you shouldn’t be surprised if State’s OOC SOS ranking of 75 and RPI ranking of 38 becomes State’s high-water mark for the year. (Hopefully not, but I wouldn’t bet against it.)

    279 – Dec. 15 – Appalachian State
    164 – Dec. 18 – Fairfield
    221 – Dec. 22 – McNeese
    202 – Dec. 28 – Rider

Neither of these teams would stand a chance at .500 in the ACC.

Thanks for putting this together. I’ll have to take some time to fully digest it outside of work.

There are alot of “advanced” statistical measures that I don’t fully grasp. But State’s defense isn’t good, by even the simplest measures…pts per game.

As of today’s stats from CBS, State ranks 6th in the ACC (59th nationally) in pts per game. Not great, but not horrible.
But on defense, State ranks 15th in the ACC and 286th nationally in opponents pts per game. That translates to State’s defense being in the bottom quarter in all of college basketball (351 teams).

I ask in all seriousness if we replaced the football coach who is better than we could reasonably hire?

This is a useless line of reasoning. None of us are athletic directors being paid big bucks to know the resumes of the next line of up/coming coaches. If the man you have isn’t meeting expectations, then the AD is being paid to rectify that situation…either with new assistants or a new head coach.

I do agree that State won’t be able to hire a sure thing in either FB or BB. In the next coaching search, State will have to choose between retreads, non P-5 head coach, or P-5 assistant (football only). I hope to live long enough for State to find another Dick Sheridan.

‘Roo, what I know about A-fib wouldn’t fill a small thimble. But a friend battled with it for years and he finally made the connection between eating something with MSG and his episodes. He made several trips to UVA’s cardiac center and many more to the local emergency room, but no doctor ever told him to avoid MSG. After making the connection, a quick google search turned up plenty of articles about the connection. He hasn’t had an episode in over a year since eliminating everything with MSG.
