When you watched the bowl game, did you see anything you liked?
I think that the UNC game is a better example of what I would like to see; probably because I knew more about UNC than Vanderbilt…plus the emotional investment in a rivalry game. Unfortunately, the BC game also says a lot and none of it good.
I don’t think that State has ever fired a FB coach in the same year that they beat UNC. So I didn’t expect it this year either. I hope you’re right about DD, but I remain undecided. Unscientifically, two beat downs of UNC in the last three years flavors my opinion of DD more than it probably should.
I grade athletic directors based on the hiring process (did they pick a candidate with reasons to expect success) and how they handle situations where the coaches are not performing.
By my measure, the last two football hires were acceptable candidates. Obviously TOB retired before moving out of Raleigh…hence his removal. DD may or may not work out, but hiring a successful head coach at a lower level is a perfectly acceptable pedigree for a coach.
In stark contrast, the last two BB searches have been unmitigated disasters…both in implementation and the chance of future success. In fact, Gott has had more success in his first few years than I expected, but the level of that success ( ie S-16) is about what I expected his ceiling to be.
So if the dumpster fire continues through the BB season, we’ll see how DY handles abysmal failure.

I say all that to say that not only did State lose, they were thoroughly beaten by those bad teams and trounced by every “decent” team except VT.
Looking ahead it wouldn’t shock me if State lost the last seven, regular season games:

Greek Tragedy is the best we can hope for (assuming it’s Gott that takes center stage).Apologies for not being here during the disaster. Football and Sherlock Holmes (Cumberbatch on PBS) left no time to share in the misery. Just in case anyone has missed the obvious, State is in a four-way tie for last place at 1-4.

I’m doing good just to spell HTML so I have no idea why a post with no links would have gotten zapped. Maybe someone that actually understands the forum software could chime in with some advice on how to get your comments posted the first time.
Roo (and to anyone else who has had posts disappear) try composing your posts, especially long ones, in a text editor then copy and paste into the site.
Until we get a solution, this sounds like our only option.

I don’t care which it is and don’t see the need in trying to figure it out. In other words, I’m not looking for a place to lay blame…all I care about is responsibility. Coaches get paid to win…and State isn’t doing enough of that. It doesn’t get more complicated than that for me.
State is 1-3 with a conference schedule that a sure NCAAT team would be no worse than 3-1. For all those that excused the OOC losses because of missing players, when exactly are those players going to make a difference?
Some folks say “we have talent”…
but… I don’t know…
I guess it depends on how you define “talent”….Ain’t that the truth!
“Boston College is at the bottom of the conference”….rubbing in now.
Actually, WF is keeping State out of the bottom for now.

Bill and Ted’s qualify as Keanu Reeves best acting role to date. Hands down he is the WORST actor in Hollywood, Statish.

I’m not so sure. I suspect that TV (and their money) would have something to say about postponing with less than 6 inches of snow. With that little snow, I-40 would be quickly cleared and both schools are close to the interstate.
