The NCAA has the real numbers through last nights games.
http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-rpiState is 1-4 on the road; Miami is 2-2
State is 11-2 at home; Miami is 8-1Thus Miami wins on adjusted winning percentage in both categories. State is 1/2 game ahead on neutral -> 2-1 vs 2-2
PS – As I expected, it looks like CBS’s numbers are more accurate than ESPNs. Note that I will continue to use ESPN because their format makes it much quicker to build the tables and update the trend graphs.
VaWolf82KeymasterI need some basic RPI instruction. How can State’s RPI be 72 and Miami’s 75 when our schedule strength is much stronger and we’ve won the same percentage of games played?
The formula was changed during the era of the Great Herb Debate to use adjusted winning percentage:
Home win/Road loss = 0.7
Neutral win/loss = 1.0
Road win/home loss = 1.4Also don’t forget that all of the numbers are rankings, not the calculated numbers. Sometimes there is a big gap between one ranking and the next and sometimes the difference is in the fourth decimal place.
So I expect your answer is somewhere between those two facts.
VaWolf82KeymasterIt’s the start of a rebound, but the recovery will continue to be two steps forward and one step backwards.
[/quote]I fully expect the backward steps. I’ll watch for the forward steps but won’t hold my breath.
Lowe had a win against Duke but that didn’t signal any magical turnaround. Hopefully this time will be different.

so is a 60w light bulb…
Granted
VaWolf82KeymasterI despise Bilas but he is light years better than Vitale.
VaWolf82KeymasterThat’s not the first time I’ve seen #3 with a heart breaking turnover. Only old folks might get my reference.

VaWolf82KeymasterI will need to go fetch me some beers if we gack this lead up. Damn it, I’m INVESTED now.
Who are you and what did you do with BJD?

That has always been a given.

I don’t know anything about their algorithms, but teamrankings.com only gave State greater than 50/50 odds of winning two more ACC games. WF in Raleigh was one of those two. Even more sad, both games were in the low 50s%.

People talk about “talent” as if that makes any difference in evaluating Gott. There are no trophies handed out on based on recruiting stats; only on wins/losses. Thus that’s the most important stat when evaluating a coach….which leads us back to BJD’s conclusion.

I don’t know how fast anything will happen, but I do know that I can’t speed the process up. So I intend to waste no energy/emotion on it.

01/21/2017 at 4:20 PM in reply to: Your “It’s Not Danny Manning’s Fault But I Still Don’t Like Him” WF Open Thread #115106VaWolf82KeymasterFWIW, I’m not saying officiating lost us this game.
And frankly, this season was over before today’s tip off.

01/21/2017 at 3:00 PM in reply to: Your “It’s Not Danny Manning’s Fault But I Still Don’t Like Him” WF Open Thread #115006VaWolf82KeymasterBased on pts/game these two teams are the 13/14th ACC teams on defense and 5/6th on offense.
I think that statement deserves a “DUH”.

They obviously didn’t include the Jamie Lucky Factor into their calculation.

VaWolf82KeymasterMaybe Pitt proves more incompetent Than us.
VaWolf82KeymasterWe is stupid
VaWolf82KeymasterHave they shown the crowds on the sidelines? Looks like a lot of empty seats behind the baskets.
VaWolf82KeymasterWow. Does these two teams really suck!
VaWolf82KeymasterWe don’t whistle past the graveyard. We laugh and exude sarcasm.
