Yeah, we need to win this game… Maybe I have rose-colored glasses, but I see improvement in the team every game (even against GT). I don’t doubt that we’ll win this game unless our QB can’t play the entire game.
An improved team would win this game, so let’s hope it does.
travelwolfParticipantMy experience has taught me:
1. look for improvement as the season progresses (big + here)
2. blowing out a much weaker opponent is never a big +. It doesn’t mean anything more than our team’s ability is between the team we beat and the best team in NCAA football. I hate it when people read more into it. Even Les Robinson’s teams blew out directional schools… then ended up in the Les Robinson invitational tournament at the end of the season!travelwolfParticipantWe’ll probably get 1 win from the 2 home games against Duke/UNC. The other will be a blowout.

On the other hand, UNC outrecruited TOB by a wide margin. That’s what ticks us off – that we creamed UNC almost every year, yet they recruited better than us.
Currently, IMHO, we can only compare ourselves to other middle-of-the-road programs. The way we will get out of the middle will be to have great seasons – and then capitalize on the great seasons by recruiting well. TOB had good seasons, but didn’t capitalize on them on the recruiting trail.
May I suggest that someone do a comparison of commit star power by ACC school. Not a difficult thing to do.
travelwolfParticipantIMHO, the ACC refs don’t let enough contact happen in the games, so when we get to the national stage where refs call games more leniently, we end up losing.
travelwolfParticipantI bet this will get a lot of viewers – I love capitalism!
travelwolfParticipantWhat killed me was the times where we played good defense for most of the shot clock, but then fouled them with less than 5 seconds left on the shot clock! That is just undisciplined basketball.
We are playing just like the teams of Lowe’s 2nd and 3rd years. I wonder whether his plays and defenses are perhaps too complicated for college players the first 2 years. On offense, 3 or 4 players were standing around while 1 or 2 were moving. On defense, we had so many missed assignments that Wisconsin could treat the game as shooting practice.
Well, Lowe has his work cut out for him… hopefully he’ll succeed.
