ParticipantBotB just messing with you as I had seen already. Even so the link does bring up the issue of Fulmer behind the TN things.
The kid looks very promising and if true to form the staff will build on that.
tractor57
ParticipantBotB b ad link but it does bring up the thought that Fulmer was the man behind the curtain on the TN mess.
tractor57
Participantburp but it makes a good “lawn mowing” beer. These days however if I drink a beer I’m like the yuppie crowd.

ParticipantWith hindsight answer might be different but I’m with Gowoles here. RW tried to force TOB’s hand and he did eventually. With that
TOB acted. We can debate but at the time he was the head coach and I do get his thinking on this issue. Other issues I do not understand and that’s why I’m not unhappy to see him gone.tractor57
Participant^ yes!
tractor57
ParticipantBut at the time we simply didn’t know. One year of RW vs 2 years with Glennon – I can understand that decision in the context of the time. With events since maybe not so much. I am no TOB fan but I can hit him on many other things than this.

ParticipantHere I agree with Yogi. There has been player development – and yes recruiting is actually happening. I’m expecting a bit of a regression next fall but that player development could change things a lot. I also am expecting things to move incrementally forward. TOB was so stuck in his mentality he could not adapt. DD started that way and to my mind is still learning but I do see some growth there.

Participantbud – weiser – burp.

ParticipantEasy enough to castigate TOB for the Wilson thing but you also have to remember there were some other factors. RW forced his hand and if he kept Wilson Glennon was gone. At the time that was an issue. Today the NFL record might say otherwise but that was not the NFL. I’m no big fan of TOB but I can understand that decision at that time. What I never understood was to publicaly say he would give the ball to FB Gentry but never did. That attitude is an example why I’m not unhappy with his departure.
tractor57
ParticipantThis ^ but we know how it goes.
tractor57
ParticipantDD staying is not a totally bad thing but he has burned a lot of fan support with how this played. I’m not so bothered but many will be and a slip means he goes.
tractor57
ParticipantHe is surely in Al Davis mode now – just win baby. Had he done things more PR friendly maybe not so much but I agree with Yogi he has poked the bear.
tractor57
ParticipantSame story next year if he continues to win. I agree with Yogi that things could have been handled in a more PR friendly mode but maybe the not so friendly mode was the desired thing.
tractor57
ParticipantBe that as may the comments were homer for Penn State. Mostly coming from the butthole (and probably orders from the mothership).
tractor57
ParticipantAT yes the SEC is the desire for many – most of those are now on the trash heap. So my point from a couple days ago remains – more money but more likely to be fired quickly. That is the final thing. If you can run with the big dogs and recover the TN program you win in the short term. But if you cannot you will not have 5 years to sort things out.

ParticipantWe are in a better place today if DD leaves than we were when he was hired. Money might be an issue but at least there is some football talent on the team now. If he chooses to leave I can’t do anything to stop that. I also am not one to moan about a coach leaving for “better” opportunities (Lou did, Bo Rein did). I’m not sure TN is a better place currently but that is not my call.
tractor57
ParticipantRye it struck me the same. Regardless of the score, time and play on the court Penn St was touted. I suspect that came from the producers (and to them from the ESPN decision makers). Early on I was there as we did not show up well. Later the mantra continued even though we were in the lead. One comment I don’t know if NC State is tourney bound – not a direct quote but gets to the heart of the issue. At the same time Penn State was losing and they were being touted. I see this often where there is an obvious bias. Call the f’ing game!
tractor57
ParticipantIt is contract talk. Maybe he walks or maybe he doesn’t. One thing never again call out NC State fans for not being in their seats at the beginning of the second half. That is my one big issue with DD.
tractor57
ParticipantIf DD finds Rocky Top is better I have no real issue. I agree with BOTB about Kitchins.
tractor57
ParticipantOn that we will have to disagree.
tractor57
ParticipantI think DD should explore – I would (and did) in my field when I was offered a chance. Generally I said no as the money increase was small. Here we talk about millions with the caveat that it might only be for a couple years. DD leaving would set us back a bit but we still have the foundation he established. If he cannot live within the NC State framework and can get a “better” job I’m good.
tractor57
ParticipantYes on my screen.
tractor57
ParticipantWas not Doris who I consider one of the best. At least on unwatchableespn.
tractor57
ParticipantESPN homers all in for Penn State to the end. Nice job with the finish.
tractor57
Participantrye I have much the same opinion. DD has been good for us and might well be into the future but he might also want the challenge (and the money) that TN could offer. If he goes there winning is not nice it is required – 8 and 4 will not cover it. So his choice on a career path. I hope he stays as I see a lot of positives but if not the sun will rise the next day.
