I view is KK needs at the minimum of 3 years to get his things in place. As to the players we have parts but not the whole – yet. This year could be bloody awful (starting that way) or could turn out to be decent (not great). I’m not ready to give up but I realize it will take some time for the transition. At that point we will have evidence one way or the other with KK. As has been mentioned I didn’t see any sulking as the point spread got worse. I think that is due to KK’s approach to the game but time will tell.
tractor57ParticipantI think you are right but I still think it is a coin flip this year. Losing Markel reduces the chances no doubt.
tractor57ParticipantI share your concern about the OCC for State. Maybe a couple games against that level of competition but at some point you have to progress. I also agree that this year is not the defining moment for KK as the coach – I’ve seen some things I like but also a lack of focus by the team at times. I’m assuming State will essentially be a coin flip on getting into the dance.
tractor57ParticipantI have some vocal fold issues so when I get the usual “Mrs. Bruce” my answer is click. Same goes for political calls – click. People that know me are aware of my issue. I do give some leeway for real calls – but not a lot.
tractor57ParticipantMc mine either. I sit on the sidelines and bitch like most of us do.
tractor57ParticipantAll I’m saying is there will be that day. The days when an assistant leaves or is shown the door. It happens. As the leader Coach D has to be prepared. I’m not advocating removing anyone but unless head coach’s money it will eventually happen – and maybe then watching the FSU thing. I do think efforts have been made to keep assistants but as we all know at some point someone will leave.
tractor57ParticipantShould? Maybe. But as we know changes happen. A good leader is prepared for that – I thin Coach D is a good leader but we shall see on this.
tractor57ParticipantThe next question will be replacing the leaving players and possibly some assistants that leave. If Coach D has built a program he will be prepared for both. Today we saw a few of the rising players, what we haven’t seen is potential turnover with assistants. Not being negative as that is part of building a program.
tractor57ParticipantLooks pretty bad I agree – Markel back to the team is one thing but back to a decent life is more important to me.
tractor57ParticipantPlay or not it is his call – that does affect my opinion of the young man. If it was $100 it might but here we are literally talking millions. Plus I think we have other capable DLs. Later today we will see.
tractor57ParticipantMore has been released – court case stayed until Jan 8.
tractor57ParticipantYes BotB we as a team would be hurting. At this point I’m hoping Markel hasn’t thrown away his life. The team sure could use him but the bigger picture is the young man.
tractor57ParticipantAs I have posted before one of the major thinks DD must do is have solid assistants (for the college game). That means teaching, being innovative and also having good relations with HS coaches. In the end those will be the tell. To date I think he has upgraded but as turnover happens (assistants leaving or let go) he must upgrade the program.
tractor57ParticipantI agree Yogi it was already in writing. Hopefully he has not destroyed his life and maybe he can rejoin the team (that is a secondary thing to me).
tractor57ParticipantI watched a bit of the BC game – field so frozen that they needed lumberjack boots. Not a good look for either team.
tractor57ParticipantWhat I’ve read so far doesn’t include many details other than the university followed their policy. I hope it is not something that will ruin Markel’s life but at this point that looks doubtful.
tractor57ParticipantThere were some things I liked about Canada and many I did not. Seems SSDD.
tractor57ParticipantI think we can all agree that Keats came in more skilled with the press on this level. Over time DD has developed that aspect. I’m happy so far with both – that does not mean either is the second coming (or not yet) but both are a damn sight better than who they replaced.
tractor57ParticipantShorty of hiring Tricky Nicky I think we have a decent set of a coaching staff. Perfect – no? But not so bad and I see moving forward. As I posted before the season that moving forward is the key.
tractor57ParticipantMention of Charleston – my stepdaughter graduated from College of Charleston so we made many visits. In those days Johnson and Wales had a campus there so most any hole in the wall was started by a J$W grad or student. The good thing is they did not veer away from the traditional foods just with a bity of a twist. Other than chains some of the best food I found.
tractor57ParticipantThanks for the updated links. Typical press release. I wonder how Roof will be integrated.
tractor57ParticipantI can’t find on the go pack site.
tractor57ParticipantIf it was year 3 or 4 and no progress I’m all in but for first year with a cobbled lineup I am still impressed. Yes I’m a bit slow to trigger but not even a single ACC season begs the real lunatic fringe.
tractor57ParticipantI’m waiting for Snooks’s BBQ (near Advance, NC) to reopen after a fire. Ugly place it was but the food (BBQ and southern cooking) was top notch. Hopefully coming back in Jan 2018.
tractor57ParticipantThen you liked Lowe as coach. I’ll agree this year might be rocky but I’m not waving the I quit towel. You are also hung up on names – teams that in the past were SO inferior … That is not the current reality. The question will be what happens to this version of the Pack this year. I do see some positives and some negatives. Part is the team has to become cohesive. and we know this year’s group was cobbled together. They could go either way.
