Wulf arrogance comes to mind more and more. It seems the line that has been used is the news cycle to get things out of sight then carry on. That works if the next cycle doesn’t bring more crap about your operation. I heard today some congresscritter has introduced a bill to remove the nonprofit status of the NFL over the Redskins thing. IMO that won’t go anywhere but some other politician will latch onto that idea over the recent stuff – and maybe they should. I have a hard time understanding why the NFL has nonprofit status.
tractor57ParticipantGreg Hardy, Ray Rice, Adrian Petersen – poster boys for the darkest week ever. Big problem is the idiots running the NFL and the teams. Take the Vikes as an example – simply very bad PR so much so that Anheiser Busch called out the actions of the team (which now have been reversed BTW). Richardson with his public weeping but at the time Hardy was slated to play. Ray Rice should be thankful that the news cycle has past him by for a day.
tractor57ParticipantWhat ‘foose said.
tractor57Participant^ this and he got it so wrong.

tractor57ParticipantState Fans there are many things I disliked about TOB (and many I liked as well) but here as you post he made the best decision given the options he had. I’ll bash TOB for other things but not this decision.
tractor57ParticipantMust be football season as the eternal disagreement returns. I agree with Wulf that the answer for recognition is simple in concept – win.
tractor57ParticipantTo me this uni looks like it belongs in “Rollerball” besides not being the school colors. Obviously I am an old fart. At this point I want a team that can string together some wins. Yesterday was an ok start being first game and against a motivated opponent. GS has a long history of producing solid teams.
tractor57ParticipantI support coach Lutz whatever but this is beginning to be a dumpster fire. Sad to see as CoC is a favorite of mine.
tractor57Participanttractor57ParticipantI also simply like the guy. Flashes of brilliance last season as he worked to be in playing shape. This new version shows much potential.
tractor57ParticipantI heard the media reports and from the beginning something wasn’t quite right. The GF thing makes a lot more sense than a hazing incident. Not one to excuse UNX either but in this case this seems to be overblown.
tractor57ParticipantIf you have a close by (less than 20 miles) signal most any cheap indoor antenna will work. If like me you are well away from the signal source it gonna cost a bit more – even to the point of an outdoor antenna. I’m considering one for my attic that is both an outdoor antenna and has a rotor included. The signal controlling that rotor is carried by the HDMI cable to the antenna. In the past I had a large outdoor antenna strapped to the chimney but with a reroof I was loathe to punch another hole through the new roof. That attic mount idea makes sense for my application.
tractor57ParticipantI listened to the game yesterday thanks to radio coverage by WSJS-AM in W-S. As I remember 39 pitches with 27 strikes. Based on the play by play he was really on with that wicked slider but has some control issues with other pitches. He left the game with W-S up 1-0. In the end they lost.
tractor57ParticipantAs it is that time of year – http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/powerful-words-jim-valvanos-espys-speech-remembered-21/story?id=24583801
I never get tired of hearing V speak
tractor57ParticipantOne year of a step back is not so concerning to me assuming progress is once again made for this year. As a Wolfpack fan I’m in this for the long haul but we better continue the hauling.
tractor57ParticipantSome great ones here including the Thacker/Packer combo. For the current day I’ll add a single – Doris Burke -as a sideline reporter or as an analyst she does bring much (that black dress last night was fitting for the Heat …
tractor57ParticipantWulf Thanks for the link. I like Kareem’s view on the subject. Hopefully you are right in this will not become the norm for any owner who dares to be a bit controversial. I’m thinking this is indeed a one of a kind incident but time will tell.
tractor57ParticipantThis morning while out doing my Sat morning errands I was listening to NPR. Lots of times I turn it off but this morning was a bit more interesting. An interview with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the subject. I found his view a nice mix of serious indignation along with some concern about using a private conversation as the trigger. I don’t have a link (although I’m sure one can be found) but I did think his comments were of merit.
My view is simple – Sterling has been a dark stain on the NBA for decades. While this incident might not be his worst I’m glad it got things moving to get him away from day to day operations of the Clippers. That said I am concerned about forcing someone to divest a valued asset like the Clippers. In his case possibly warranted but if another owner speaks out on something unpopular (maybe Mark Cuban berating Silver) would that then follow the precedent?
To this point Silver did what he had to do – the players forced his hand with the planned boycott (and good on them I say). Now if another owners gets crossways with Silver over something …?
tractor57ParticipantMore like since the end of the Rein era.
tractor57ParticipantMy granddaughters are biracial so long ago I had to deal with my issues. In the end I think this all a load of crap. Sterling is and has always been a racist – and has taken actions the hurt people because of his views. I knew that a long time ago. Should he own a NBA team? Maybe or maybe not – in my world he would be stoned but that is another matter completely.
tractor57ParticipantThe fact that only one of the early exit guys in in the Association argues that the issue here is not simply squandered talent on the college level. A series of less than good coaches and possibly some bad advice to there young men. Would they have had better chances if they stayed another year? Maybe maybe not. By all evidence TJ Warren is much more likely to stick in the association and hopefully for him this was the proper time to make that move. Suspect he is getting much better advice than those guys mentioned already.
tractor57ParticipantI ran across the show on my dish years ago. Just as the article states it was 4 writers sitting around a table in a cloud of cigar smoke talking about whatever. Very much a Chicago focus of course but that was also in the day of the Bulls with Jordan. Content trumped vapid “pretty faces”.
tractor57ParticipantI remember a few classes in the round building. Early morning calculus for one. Never developed a hate for the building but never a like either.
