RTO Taking care of business
11/28/2014 at 6:30 PM in reply to: Tim Peeler on Jimmy V: “What Have We Gotten Ourselves Into?” #62714tractor57ParticipantDC you left out Kenny Carr. I remember watching State vs Duke and the Kenny Carr/Tate Armstrong show. I was at courtside and loving every minute.
tractor57ParticipantI see this team growing with each game. The competition has gotten progressively tougher but the team has managed to find a way to win. It is not without issues of course. One easily seen issue is free throw shooting. Some of the end of game play has been ragged as well. Offensively still developing for life after Warren. Defensively significantly better than previous Gott led teams.
All that said the thing I see being the biggest improvement is team chemistry. Still early season and no conference games yet so there are questions remaining but I do like watching this team.
tractor57ParticipantThe events after the incident are troubling – on both sides. Strange use of a grand jury, strange ‘leaks’ of information provided to the grand jury, strange presence (and lack of) of the usual suspects in the events after the incident. Odd things in the grand jury record as well with the media frenzy.
In the end I thin the incident was a thug trying to kill a cop and he lost. The stuff after that event gets very murky. My question is not if rather why …tractor57ParticipantAs an old fart I like the red and white. Doesn’t mater to me if there are black accents I love this uni. What would bother me is having black as the dominate color as I have mentioned before.
tractor57ParticipantA great contrast between the BB gun event and the tagging of the Duke visiting locker room. In one there were consequences for the actions and apparently in the other the “adults” encouraged the behavior.
11/25/2014 at 12:32 AM in reply to: UNC trashes Dukes locker room after game. Class Class Class #62390tractor57ParticipantI guess it says something that when I read of this incident I was not surprised. That is not so much a comment of my loathing of UNX rather no surprise at the continuing revelations.
tractor57ParticipantI agree USF played hard and very smart. By the end of the season I think this game will be important to the growth of our still young team. Overall I do like what I see but there are also points to improve. Foul shooting of course. Ball handling when the game is on the line as a second. This is a game that would have been lost previously but the team managed to survive and advance.
tractor57ParticipantSome excellent play and some teachable moments.
tractor57ParticipantI hate that the dark blues didn’t grind the light blues into the turf. Hint to coach D and the FB team … (as if they aren’t on that page)
tractor57ParticipantA point here is to remember the Internet never forgets. Our rants during a meltdown included. Does is really matter to me that Twitter is improving search capability? Not really but I am waiting to see how Twitter monetizes this.
tractor57ParticipantNo problem with ESPN3 here – that is other than the usual crap.
tractor57ParticipantI would rather have Queens (or the like) as a preseason game that some we have seen in the past. I listened to the game on the radio broadcast which introduces some bias but it seems that Caleb Martin is quick out of the box. A higher level of competition will answer all the questions but at this point I like what I heard.
tractor57Participant“A sad day”. Yes since the gravy train has been exposed. Personally I don’t buy “the coaches did not know”. I’m waiting for the Berlin Wall moment. On another front how is this not case for a review of academics by the appropriate authorities?
tractor57ParticipantThanks for the info. I moved to Burlington in ’92 and I knew Smith retired sometime after that but with my swiss cheese memory …
As to the chances of anything significant regarding any punishment for the school or the leaders – I think not much of a chance. Sacrificial lambs already in place.
tractor57ParticipantLocal radio news picked up on a single point -of the students that received those grades at least half were scholarship athletes. Is going back to 1993 far enough back to include some of Dean’s BB players? I know that is close to time he retired but I’m not sure of the exact date. Spin this anyway you want it is a pretty damning report.
tractor57ParticipantFor the most part I’m old school about unis but I like this helmet. To really “promote” the brand in football will take some consistent winning which can be done under coach D.
tractor57ParticipantI thought coach D might have overplayed the situation but I also thought there was a lot of bending of the rules – and that happens in most every game. Props to coach D for raising the issue and also props for getting things back to the next game. This is an issue I think the rules committee should consider – exactly what they should recommend I have no idea but they should consider the impact pro and con.
tractor57Participant“Whoever hired that yahoo should fire him. He is the king idiot of sports radio.”
His job is to get people to listen and being outrageous works (ask Rush).
tractor57ParticipantTo the point I am sure DY will (and is) plann(ing) for the day coach D and his staff are tempted. I’m not 100% sure coach is the real deal but he is making a difference. I’m firmly in his camp for the next few years after than we shall see.
09/25/2014 at 11:09 PM in reply to: UNC ‘Supervisor of Morale’: This guy is SO STUPID that I have to post it #56956tractor57ParticipantToo many hits during a game?
tractor57ParticipantThis year’s version of the ‘Pack is improved over last year. How much improved remains to be seen but I doubt winless in conference play. This team actually has a quarterback than can make a throw. Much to be done yet but a step forward.
tractor57ParticipantJust think if the interwebs were available during the unpleasantness surrounding the ‘Pack basketball program decades ago.
tractor57ParticipantGuess I spoke too soon.
tractor57ParticipantThe good thing here is Glennon will not have the pounding only a deficient OL can provide in the NFL. Maybe next year he will be in a better spot.
