Squeeze, squeeze. Surely our farmers can teach that.

Nothing surpasses a good game day experience but as Va says there are issues. I’m old and am fine watching in my den. At least I can nap when things go the wrong way. To me a huge part is the schools/conferences trying to wring every last drop of money out of the experience then asking for more contributions. That said I have NO desire to fight the game day car traffic any longer with most all games available for broadcast.

Tex makes some excellent comments. Years ago I drove from Spartanburg, SC to Raleigh for game day. These days with the cost of PSLs and tickets and every game on TV I have little reason to drive down from the hills to Raleigh. Yes I enjoy seeing the games and I enjoyed the game day atmosphere but I’m a bit older and less likely to make the trip. Glad some do but not me.

Like Rye I’m good for year one. If the Pack gets a ticket to the dance even better. Now if we are at this point year 4 or so it might be time to make another change. I think KK has done well year 1 (I also thought Gott did ok year 1 but then not so much). Sadly fundamentals are lost on “AAU stars”. I think eventually there will be some sort of adjustment in rules maybe like college baseball – end the one and done but not lock the player in for an excessive number of years.

I expected some ups and downs this year. So far I have seen more ups than downs. Given all the change, the somewhat limited talent and how that was assembled after last season KK gets my support. As has been mentioned we have good talent but maybe not top 4 ACC talent. As a team you can cover some of that but the later in the year it gets the harder it is to accomplish. Wufpacker has plainly stated his case against KK from the beginning but that does not change the fact that the Pack is not a top 4 team in talent this year.

On defense all I saw was Matador – from each team. Granted there is dealing with the impact of AAU ball but if you want effective change there is a place to start. I also agree why is Y7 trying to be a small forward.

    Close but not quite enough.

It is hard to compare one to the other because the program was not static. For all the issues Gott was most likely the only option at his hiring – he did move the program away from the Lowe era. Not KK can build on that. I think KK has done better first year so far but Gott also moved things forward. To this point I’m all in for KK I see adjustments in game and I’m also a big fan of the idea of playing defense. To me KK gets some time to put his team roster in the image of his ideal. I give him huge props so far.

I agree with Grey in that I liked Marshall over Lowe but maybe not this go. So looks like a solid hire to hire Keats but we need a bit longer track record to be sure.

Given the ‘Pack’s tendency to play up or down to the competition this year the game could be quite interesting.

The Pack won 2 dunks to 1 – Guy Lewis said before the game the team with the most dunks wins. He was right. If you haven’t seen the 30 for 30 on that Houston team you should watch – they still believe the game was taken from them. I would also watch the Whittenberg produced 30 for 30 on Valvano.

But the ’73 team was the greatest.

Regardless when it came to crunch time the Pack was there last night. Maybe they out played WF at the time or maybe WF folded like a cheap tent. Either way I’ll take it.

Somewhere in my collection I have a book Bones wrote. Funny as can be.

I have nothing but positive thoughts for him. As Tex says I hope he can help some other program and make a name for himself.

For what its worth I am enjoying seeing this years Pack grow. Likely they will not meet my goal (always a natty) but they have proved to be an interesting bunch.

I’m assuming he got good advice on his move. My only concern is that he does not fit the typical mold for a position. That might be a huge advantage given the right team. Regardless he will sign for more than I ever made working a career. I wish him the best.

WW I agree the end game stuff does need some attention. Yes is does get a bit pedantic but you are also correct. Like Grey there maybe other teams dynamics that are more important. As long as KK is coach it is his to prioritize. So far what I have seen is progress – weaknesses yes but they also seem to be reacted to by KK. I’m impressed by him but I was with Gott his first year. I have the feeling that this will turn out better. Roster has been a nightmare with all the stuff from Beverly to Markel to Kirk (add in Abu’s recovery from the knee problem).

Keats has managed to deal with issues as they arrive. Obviously end of game stuff is far from perfect but at least we now have a reasonable chance of hitting those late game free throws. I’m with Grey let the man do his thing. From what I have seen so far he is doing very well.

The name almost rings a bell. I do have a few very funny stories form that time. My eye doc was the Clemson time keeper and he often traveled with the team. Told me many about Harvey Grant impersonating Horace (his twin). Got so bad they ran Harvey to Oklahoma.

I think it was in that same time period – the “Watch Warren walk” game Tiggers and UNC.

I was distracted a bit with well issues. Hopefully no frozen pipes but we will see tomorrow when I prime the pump. Today (Sunday) I ran out of propane. Been a very cold stretch. That said I have not lost my belief but I have not become a homer just yet either. I think a good choice for a coach and I like where he is going. I see some good with the players as well. each year is a learning experience and I like this group a lot.
