The K3 is one of the models I have spied. It does seem to get good reviews from many sites. Thanks for the link.

I have an older Pentax DSLR (bought a combo with 2 zoom lenses). I also have some Pentax 35mm SLR lenses that will work with in a somewhat limited fashion. The price was good and I checked out the reviews of the camera and lenses thoroughly through some pro and serious photobug sources. I agree with Alpha the first point is the glass. Getting to the point where upgrading is on the horizon for me. In my case is are the newer Pentax cameras enough of a step forward or is it time to switch brands. What I really need for my use is better low light capability.

Wulfpacker I had a similar incident with Eddie B back in the day in an on campus incident. That has colored my impression of him for decades. Right? Probably not but it is what it is. Your incident with K sounds similar.

Agreed improved defense is imperative but I think the team did show significant improvement in the last month of the regular season and during the NCAA tourney. To go further all around play has to take another step forward. That I think is very possible next year. Later years might show some regression if recruiting falls (not in the number of burger boys rather in finding the proper pieces to fit with the rest of the team).

So coach K is evil because he takes full advantage of the rules? Granted there seemed to be a deference to the “royals” in regards to officiating but that is a league problem. No K defender here but I do respect what he has accomplished. As I have often said to be the man you have to beat the man. In the recent past the Pack has not been able to do that but I do see a change coming – and not because of waiting for old coaches to retire. The way you get better is YOU get better and I think Gott has moved the program along greatly.

The problem with stats is you are diving while looking to past results. If a steady state they are an excellent predictor of new results but I submit the Pack BB experience has finally broken out of that steady state. Don’t get me wrong as I feel stats from previous years are important but I do see some changes that foretell good things.

As far as changes to the current game I’m taking another tack. Return the game to how it was played in 1974 – no shot clock, more emphasis on controlling excessive physical play. I would make one change that being make the lane area consistent with international rules and raise the emphasis on the 3 second in the lane call.
The other thing I would do is eliminate the exceptions to admission requirements but at the same time strengthen the NBA DL and remove any restriction on the age of players for the NBA.
Maryland and the Pack did not need a shot clock in that famous ’74 ACC championship game.

Obviously none of this will happen as the current idea is to speed up the game with the shot clock, use the 3 point shot to make late game comebacks a bit more likely and the money guys want those “one and done” types even if they cannot survive academically.

One other thought is to remove ANY ties between athletics and academics. Make academics available but do not require anything in that area. In other words the school supports a semipro team and plays the players accordingly. That also will never happen.

Nothing growing here yet but very soon. Tomatoes (many varieties), peppers, squash, cucumbers, okra and a container filled with mixed greens and another one with radish. Due to circumstances I missed out on snow peas this year (or at least this spring). No corn here because I love it too much and it causes me problems so I’ll buy a couple ears now and again. Home grown is better but we do as we must.

Playing the casual fan I liked the game. Close fought. I was hoping the other teams would win but not so upset either way.

In the end that Pack of Badgers did what was needed. The blue boys did not. Regardless on hell of a game to watch. I’m hoping Monday night will be the equal regardless of who wins.

To be the man you must beat the man. So far that whole Pack of Badgers has risen to the challenge. Last night the Badgers were the better team – they did not rattle even when UK rallied and with some calls that went against them. In the end UK blinked. That does not make Ryan a great person or Cal an evil one – the result might be because of they way each prepared their respective teams.

To me the comment shows some frustration and some lack of maturity – the latter Cal says he is trying to help his players in avoiding. The lack ditching the after game handshake is more problematic to me. I will say if the roles had been reversed an Kaminsky said such about one of the KY players all of the sports press would simple have been in feeding mode.

In some ways I get Cal concentrating on his team but as my ex-FIL always says “Jody I don’t think I would have said that”.

We have seen the results with a team of burger boys who could (would) not work alone or together. Maybe that was a coaching issue. We have seen teams that were undermanned that sometimes could make it happen. Last season we saw a team with talent (most of in raw with basketball skills) that by the end of the season was pretty darn good. So is the coach to blame for each of these? Possibly but I see the personnel being a better fit and I have seen significant development this past season. Maybe Gott is not the absolute best coach (probably not in fact) but considering where the program was when he arrived and where it is now I would say the Pack has picked a winner. Now that can always turn, some sat the recruiting currently is not up to standard. That I don’t know because I simply do not follow recruiting in a significant way.
At this point I am more than fine with the coaching staff, the team roster and the leadership from AD Yow and Chancellor Woodson.

After a night of sleep and waking up this morning I’m thinking if the result of next season turns out to be like the results of the last one I’ll take that. Making the Sweet 16 is an accomplishment. Yes I was hoping for more but it is what it is. Before the season many were saying the goal should be a Sweet 16 berth. Every season my goal for the team is a NC but I know full that rarely will that be achieved (we are not in the same spot as KY). So disappointed with the loss last night but not with the season, the coaches or the team. Guess I’m not part of the lunatic fringe.

Yes I’m disappointed in the outcome of the game. Tonight Louisville was the better team. I am not disappointed with the season as a whole. Best season the Pack has had in a LONG time.

To quote Curry Buckets from just before the ’83 championship game “only when pigs fly …” And just like then the answer is for the Red Army led this time by Cat Daddy to search and destroy.

Yes Chop the accepted view is they were the most underdog of underdogs – and V’s public statements fed into that. You can bet he did not say that to the team in private. The regular season was righted a bit by Ernie Meyers. He almost beat the Tiggers by himself. I was there in Littlejohn and saw most of the game (sitting in end zone seats with an obstructed view of the near baseline). Actually a pretty solid team.

Izzo has proven to have teams that “progress” – Gott not so much yet but if you actually look at what is happening they are not so different …
A few more years of the same will have the “experts” singing differently regarding Gottfried.

Actually a conversation on sports talk radio – imagine that. I have always liked Lutz even before his current job and was glad to hear some of his perspective on so many things. Every day he is with the staff is a positive one for the Pack. If the day comes that he finds a HC position that is acceptable I’ll say thanks for the hard work and best wishes going forward.
From the interview one would gather he is quite happy with his role on the staff so not just any head coach position will be of interest.
