In many ways I agree. I also know a nurse who went to UNC on a volleyball scholly. She say they would return from a meet at 5 AM and she would go get her assignments. It is really bad now (maybe always for the money sports) but there are some who were really student athletes.
At this point f**** Carolina and the horse they rode in on.tractor57ParticipantLast night read some of the comments on IC. A few I thought were spot on and many were of the “how us?” type.
The Hammer of Thor might reign with the LOIC charge but we shall see.tractor57ParticipantAt least last night the better team won. Opportunity was available but fumbled away and TCU was able to prosper.
tractor57ParticipantJust enough
tractor57ParticipantAs the model is to react rather than being proactive (probably reasonable but …) any AV system can be open. I like AVAST but also periodically use the various on line scanners as part of my plan. It seems all are subject to bloat. That has been espeically true with Norton and McAfee.
tractor57ParticipantAnd that with Glennon apparently in the doghouse.
tractor57ParticipantI’ve been pleased with AVAST and also with AVG. Not so happy with Norton or McAfee.
tractor57ParticipantAll gave some and some gave all. Seems we as a country have strayed a bit here – this day should be about those who gave all.
tractor57ParticipantClassic way to dump news which you wish you did not have to dump. Will it be of any consequence? On that we shall see.
tractor57ParticipantI suspect there a few universities that would challenge the claim of “most investigated”. Maybe SMU? Maybe headed down that same path? Not likely as the economics for the NCAA would take a huge hit.
tractor57ParticipantAlong with that will the scholarship offers be for more than one year?
tractor57ParticipantThe transfer/leaving early rate is way up for all major programs but even back in Sloan’s or Valvano’s day there were transfer/leaving early issues every year. I’ve seen nothing to tell me Gott is any worse or any better than most current coaches.
As always the same views from the same people (including me). Has that changed anyone’s thinking?tractor57ParticipantIs it a cheap shot to tell the truth? “He dropped a lot of balls” is absolutely true. No comment on his character or anything other than “he dropped a lot of balls”. A change in the WR coach was almost certain after last year. One thing I like about coach D is he does not play the BS game. The loss of Bo Hines might hurt a bit but the loss of MVS not so much. It is what it is. After long years of coaching problems I think the ship has been righted.
tractor57ParticipantI say great for him. He will start as summer camp fodder and then we will see if there is really something there. I hope there is as like Wulfpack I do admire his steadfastness.
tractor57ParticipantI do not presume to replace the athlete’s thinking for my own. I do not know the whole of the situation. I do know that last season turned out well even if bumpy at times. Maybe that can happen next season or maybe not.
tractor57ParticipantAny chance someone can fix the title?
tractor57ParticipantThe whole situation was one of TOB’s making for better or worse. I would hope RW has some negative feelings but I can also see the issue of a starting QB having to skip spring practice.
tractor57Participant“I have no idea how someone who was a fan through the Herb era could think this is a legit comparison.”
Not sure I do either but the BIG difference is we now have an AD rather than a cougar chaser. Yes Gott is her guy but I have no illusion she would not pull the trigger if the program sank to the depths of the last 5 years of the smartest coach in college basketball. After 5 years of his tenure I told many it was time for him to go and if the program under Gott settles into a similar steady state it might be time for him as well. At this point overall I’m satisfied with the program. Yes I can pick out some issues but the general situation is still quite good.
We seem to have the same off season conversation every year. Maybe that is an overall dissatisfaction with the program or maybe it is really some lunatic fringe thinking. I have no issue with the variety of opinion expressed even if I don’t always agree. I do see the same thoughts from the same people (including me) year after year.
tractor57Participant“I flew for my job for 15 years and I never curled up in a ball on the floor. But then again I was never a drunk/hungover basketball coach either.”
Didn’t look that way to me. Looked like anyone of a number of passengers after a long day for terribly bad flights. I get you do not like Gott (that is very obvious) but I think your objectivity is compromised here – including posting something from Insane Carolina. maybe a lamb in wolf clothing?
I would expect IC members to post such and the same for Ole Roy would be done here. In the end I call BS.
tractor57ParticipantI have the same reaction if it was Ole Roy or K- who gives a …
Never have flown much have you?
tractor57ParticipantAll I ask of the athletes is to go to class and to be a positive influence on the team. Many of our previous transfers did not do the latter. I ask of the coaching staff is they provide the teaching and tool for our players to excel. If a player decides he/she would be better off at some other place I’m ok with that.
tractor57ParticipantIt would be a rare person that could turn down decent money (and maybe great) for playing a sport that has consumed most all of their life – I think most all of us would do the same. I’ll simply say I have enjoyed watching Trevor and wish his all the best.
Other than that we are having the same old “discussions” about the same old topics. Go back a year and change the name from TJ to Lacey and the threads are surprisingly (or not surprisingly) similar. Gott can’t recruit, defense is the limiting factor, no back up for point, etc. This past season showed a team can improve through the season. The program has made some gains and the question at hand is can most of those gains be maintained and built upon.
tractor57ParticipantIt is a different landscape than the late ’70’s when I was on campus but Sloan seemed to always have transfers as well. Not so sure that even with Rick’s stats the situation is that much different today as back then. At least today those that turn pro have a chance to earn money for their ability. Most not in the NBA but that is not the only possibility. Had I had such an opportunity I’m not so sure I could have stayed the course. The question at hand is what happens next for the program and for Gott. At this point I’m watching and waiting.
tractor57ParticipantMr. Dog makes a lot sense in both the reasoning and the future for our program. I hope he becomes the RW of the NBA. A long shot I know but but he has represented the Pack well.
tractor57ParticipantThe loss will never leave but you have awesome memories. Go rest high wulf pops.
