The schedule is what it is. What the teams does is up to tem.
09/08/2015 at 1:26 PM in reply to: “The most despicable act I have ever seen on a football field” #88416tractor57ParticipantMay I ask what the hell does this have to do with killings of police? What we do know. Two players went after a ref – not as a part of a football play but intentionally. Those two should be punished. If the investigation uncovers facts that lead to other team members or any of the coaching staff they also should be punished – period. I would also suspend the head coach for the year for not controlling his team even if there is no evidence he was complicit in the act.
Take the tired political crap elsewhere.
tractor57ParticipantOn the “troll filter” maybe type in 1 would be sufficient for the UNC trolls 🙂
09/08/2015 at 11:54 AM in reply to: “The most despicable act I have ever seen on a football field” #88409tractor57ParticipantIf the HC coach did anything to encourage this he should be criminally charged. The act was willful. If he was simply unaware he should be suspended for the season.
09/08/2015 at 8:35 AM in reply to: “The most despicable act I have ever seen on a football field” #88401tractor57ParticipantI agree with PIR in that this was not the run of the mill cheap shot. Not sure the acts should be treated a felonies as some have suggested in other places but there must be some punishment. I would like to know if there was (were) and event (events) prior that lead to these actions. Not excusing the actions but just wondering why. The acts were not disguised in any way (maybe simply HS kids and lack of prior planning). On that I’m curious.
tractor57ParticipantI agree there were some issues on defense not so sure I would downgrade the offense as much as you. It is very hard to get a read on a team after the first game of the season. Even great teams sometimes look like crap in game 1. No not saying this is a great team but I do see it as a step up from this time 1 year ago. I don’t see full sun but I do see breaks in the clouds. The previous coaching staff surely would find a way to stop that but the current staff seems to be a bit better in getting performance.
tractor57ParticipantA good first game. Showed we do have an offense but I’m sure did not show the complete package. The kicking game looked good – especially on kickoffs. Being that that is all new this year a good sign. Defense looked quite good at times but maybe lost some focus at others. Part might be directly related to Silvers – he sure has a golden arm. Tough kid as well even walking about after the slobber knocker. The other thing I noticed was some clock management just before the last Pack score in the first half. That was refreshing to see.
08/27/2015 at 9:26 AM in reply to: Suffering From Football Related Brain Injuries, Former NC State QB Erik Kramer Hospitalized After Failed Suicide Attempt #88096tractor57ParticipantTo quote Saint Vince from decades ago “basketball is a contact sport, football is a collision sport”. Take that and add the “safety devices” (which become weapons all too often) the mass x speed comment is very real.
tractor57ParticipantIn this era of the one and done I’m not so sure this matter as much as it once did. Obviously non one and done players progress as they age. I think the real issue is with the coaching staff adjusting to changing rosters. So far I think Gott et al have done a decent job there.

1. Derrick Whittenburg
2. Rodney Monroe
3. Monte Towe
4. Scott WoodDerrick and Rodney could manufacture the shot. Monte and Scott needed a setup.
If Maverick Rowan even comes close to these it will be a big win.tractor57ParticipantI see progress but not the ultimate yet. The Tiggers are quite good and FSU might be if they get their act together.
tractor57ParticipantTime to upgrade the out of conference schedule I agree but with a plan. I feel much better about Pack football than I have in a decade.
tractor57ParticipantThese days I do not attend in person with any regularity. The reason – HD TV and the fact most any game is available to see from the comfort of my living room. Granted you loose the game day feel. But you also loose the traffic, the crowded conditions, the lack of facilities, the issue of the drive home afterward, etc. I find as I’ve gotten older the game day experience no longer outweighs the negatives.
It is a thorny issue for programs I’m sure. The TV experience of a game in a half full stadium is not the best.07/12/2015 at 3:57 AM in reply to: Restoring an icon – Reynolds Renovation – Where do you stand? #87575tractor57ParticipantYes walking into Reynolds for a big game was an awesome experience. With all the shortcomings the building had by the late 1970’s the atmosphere was second to none – including the famed Cameron. However its day had passed a few decades later. Earlier renovations helped but I do like the current thinking rather than a demolition.
07/10/2015 at 7:34 PM in reply to: Restoring an icon – Reynolds Renovation – Where do you stand? #87568tractor57ParticipantAs a venue for men’s BB it time has long passed. As a venue for women’s BB (at the current level of attendance) maybe not. I like the fact Reynolds is being updated. Granted still issues from working withing the building footprint. The other choice was a total demo and build something else. That would not be my choice.
07/10/2015 at 8:36 AM in reply to: Restoring an icon – Reynolds Renovation – Where do you stand? #87552tractor57ParticipantAs needs change facilities should change as well. To me the plan seems reasonable.
tractor57ParticipantIn the end it will be the end or maybe not.
tractor57ParticipantOh where has my Underdog gone?
tractor57ParticipantOn the local radio news “paper classes going back for decades” – maybe the issue is finally gaining some traction.
Even if the penalty is double secret probation for 12 months.tractor57ParticipantSo double secret probation – that is the effect of this.
tractor57ParticipantAnd now 12 months of double secret probation.
tractor57ParticipantNice! Thanks for the link.

These days not as much (and a lot of that is oversaturation of sports on TV in general). This particular final series I am watching. The NBA game has always been different from the college game but over time the college game in some ways mirrors the NBA game.
As far as the college game and transfers yes the landscape has changed. Love him or hate him but Calipari was the first to really adjust. So far Gott’s approach has been pretty good. We also tend to forget that transfers have been a significant part of the college game for decades – much more today than in the past granted but it has always been a factor.06/08/2015 at 7:43 PM in reply to: Dorn to State; Gottfried continues winning the transfer game #87255tractor57Participant06/08/2015 at 5:00 PM in reply to: Dorn to State; Gottfried continues winning the transfer game #87250tractor57ParticipantI can see pros and cons as ryebread mentions.
