While I don’t like ANY uni with black being a major color that is not the issue. A win solves that – we were not ready to win. The cowbells were better, their QB was markedly better. Yes he had better OL help but when he had to throw the trows were mostly NFL quality.
tractor57ParticipantThe better team won. They started quick and bested any challenge.
tractor57ParticipantFor good or bad the pattern of the Gott era is start a bit slow and build. I see some weaknesses with the team but I also see chances for moving forward. Wulf you are right with the question.
tractor57ParticipantLike ‘foose I see some program improvement. No where near enough yet but some improvement. I also see for the past season there were challenges like Shad being dismissed and the Dayes injury. I’m not for one second saying the Shad dismissal was a bad call (actually I think it was the right one) but to date we have not been deep enough in talent to really do the next man up like some programs can (Baylor anyone?). Yesterday the cowbells were the best team on the filed. Period. End of discussion. Damned impressive QB, they came out ready to go and were able to withstand any challenge the Wolfpack made. New assistants? Possibly but to me that is DD’s call. He will live or die with the staff he hires.
I do think DD needs to reflect and asses then possibly adjust. That is the way forward.
tractor57ParticipantHaving lived in the Upstate SC area some years ago (including the ’81 run) I can tell you it isn’t all about money. As BassPacker says there are other issues.
tractor57ParticipantIf they bring those I’m glad to not be there. Had my time with the cowbell
tractor57ParticipantNo f’ing more cowbell
tractor57ParticipantIt is an arms race and has been since I was in school which goes back to the Holtz era. Also Clemson has most always drawn a large portion of NC talent Dabo has tapped into that very well. I’m not been a member of the Wolpack Club longer than you have been a member – not a protest thing rather life happens.
I will say Dabo inherited a program is much better shape over all than DD did. Has DD done enough so far? I think probably but more progress is needed.
tractor57ParticipantMaybe we will chat after the game.
tractor57ParticipantBest thing the Yets ever did was drop Sexy Rexy. As to how that relates to the Buffalo situation we shall see,
tractor57ParticipantMaybe I’m a bit different but I tend to separate sports. Both MG and DD have to stand on their own. On the AD level I do combine things. All I can say these is we are much better off without Jed.
tractor57ParticipantHave another jug. Rick makes good points although I might disagree with the full analysis. Regardless it is a long slog and has been a very long slog. My view better but maybe not better enough – FB and BB.
tractor57ParticipantPaki that is the frustration. Maybe the coaching style or maybe the players. Either way on that I’m with you. I also usually see a better team in late season. Hoping so this year but not sure it will happen.
tractor57ParticipantIn some ways follows the pattern established in Gott’s tenure. Start slow and usually improve. In my opinion this year might be a bit tougher depending on Henderson’s status. Some say SSDD – fair enough. I say it is sort of neat to watch a team grow through the season. Yes frustrating at times but still worth watching.
tractor57ParticipantZero? Really? Inconsistent absolutely. Disappointing? Yes as well. But zero?
tractor57Participant‘Troll I see your point. There has been a bit of progress but the evils that united us are mostly gone now. That said I watch the football and men’s basketball like I always have. Sometimes women’s BB and the other sports as well.
In some ways I do miss the way this site was when we were so set against Fowler. Not that I miss that jerk at all.tractor57ParticipantIt is a sign of a problem (maybe the team, maybe the site) when in a game thread all that is really discussed is the nature of the posts positive or negative. I remember the day when there was actual discussion of the game – even a just before the holiday non conference game. Maybe it is expectations have been raised to a level that has not been met, maybe it is the back biting pro and con. Regardless I find I spent less time checking this site and am getting to the point of avoiding game threads. The answer? I have no idea – maybe the model this site was based on is faltering.
At it’s best this site is both informative and funny. At its worst it is like pig wrestling.tractor57ParticipantUgly game and even uglier here. There was a time when this site was the place to be for Wolfpack sports. Not so sure these days …
tractor57ParticipantMinus Powerkitty no energy early. Second half was much better.
tractor57ParticipantRequires Flash so I’m not watching either.
tractor57ParticipantUpgrade yes. Massive? Time will tell how much but no doubt better. Today while driving I was turning this over in my mind – no doubt the best since Valvano. Maybe along the lines of a Maravich. Case, Sloan and V were better for their times. I think V could excel today not as sure about Sloan with his style of player management. I’m not entirely happy but I see the risk as being great if we were to blow the current system up by buying out Gott.
tractor57ParticipantRick I agree as well but maybe from a slightly different slant. As a program we are better than the Lowe years and marginally better than with that other guy. Is that enough? No in my opinion but at this point replacing the head coach yet again is more likely to be a downgrade than an upgrade. It might come to doing that but I think not quite there yet.
tractor57ParticipantAre we really ready to blow up the place? I’ve seen some good thing and some bad things but I have seen nothing that comes near matching Sloan or V. Troubled I am but not ready to start again from the Les level (and yes Les took one for the school and that is something I’ll always appreciate).
If this year turns into a dumpster fire maybe I recalculate but so far I see a team I like to watch.tractor57ParticipantI lived in the Upstate during the Danny Ford years – including 1981. I suspect Dabo has the same sort of following. He seems to be like Ford in that is plays everyman (and probably is) but is a fine football coach.
Amato is both an NC State hero and a failed head coach. That happens.12/17/2015 at 7:12 AM in reply to: David Amerson, a disappointment for Redskins, is shining for Raiders #94579tractor57ParticipantWashington where careers go to die. It seems the Raiders is a better place for Amerson.
