Seems Chubb was all over him all game.
tractor57ParticipantI was impressed with Blackman – tough and as you say super stats
tractor57ParticipantGood enough – celebrate toni8ght then on to the next game
tractor57ParticipantHard fought game so far – no 3rd quarter nap
tractor57ParticipantSo far good enough – now don’t disappear for a quarter.

I guess I’m Jonesing for more sports discussion. For years this was the place to go for reasoned content – sometimes I agreed, sometimes I did not but there always good discussion. I agree DD was a flyer, I also think the football team is progressing. Amato brought passion but not the other things, TOB brought the other things but not the passion. Maybe DD will grow into a good balance of both. The BB coach issue has really been bad since V but with Keats I see some hope. OK my venting over now go and knock over Silent Sam 🙂

This used to be a place to have discussions about ‘Pack athletics (good and bad) without all the drama. Now it is about Silent Sam and the antifa. I get the need for a place to have those discussions but when that become the focus (along with the constant ‘fire the coach’) drum beat maybe time to spend my time elsewhere.

Agreed there are still some unanswered questions for the ‘Pack. Those would not be answer by the beat down of Furman. The team got a win, The second team offense got significant playing time. So winning is now boring? I get it you do not like Coach D but unless you can buy out his contract (and convince the athletics admin to do they buy out he is here).

tractor57ParticipantPack1997 no it does not mean to pay BUT is a particular person is so adamant we must change coaches maybe time to put some money on the table. Obviously I don’t think we are there yet but I’m not saying it might not be needed. For better or worse we have invested in Coach D – maybe he is not the answer or maybe he is. I can say I don’t expect to turn TOB’s turd into a diamond in even 5 years. We though TOB would bring stability (and he did lying about ever giving the ball to a fullback – that one statement turned me off him forever). Coach D came into a depleted roster, he has shown some improvement but I agree not enough. My question to you is where do we go? Many here was the “flavor of the day” (especially coaches who were fired for off field issues. Do we really want that?
I have seen some comments from coach D I thought were ill advised, some in game coaching moves that I though were ill advised as well. I saw the same with Holtz, and with any coach since then. If it was simple or if you were willing to go the “dump on the hump” route have at it.tractor57ParticipantMy thinking is similar etab4u. Maybe we take steps back and it really is time for a change. Maybe we continues that progression of moving forward. I can see either happening. But I have seen some progress – we went from a dreadful team with little talent to a team with decent talent. Enough? NO. Progress? Yes.
tractor57ParticipantOk if you are ready for a new coach maybe time you start putting up the money to buy out the contract. I can understand the frustration, I can also see the depths the football program sank to in the past. I so see some strides but I’m not ready to pat coach D on the back just yet. I’m also not ready to buy out the contract. I might be there at the end of the season if I don’t see more progress. No I do not expect to be in the chase for the natty this year. I do expect some improvement on the filed. Lack of any improvement would set on the path of ending the relationship. I don’t expect to be there but I will concede the possibility.
tractor57ParticipantTeams with incredibly bad offensive lines?
tractor57ParticipantI’m of the Al Davis ilk here – just win baby. Had the ‘Pack done that last weekend they would be 2-0 now and would be making some noise nationally. Can;t fix that but the ‘Pack can move forward.
tractor57ParticipantA win is a win.If the does that I’m good
tractor57ParticipantBreak more chairs …
tractor57ParticipantHalftime adjustment – break some chairs
tractor57ParticipantBetter but still pretty sad. Coach D need to break some chairs at the halftime break.
tractor57ParticipantMarshall has a good team so they don’t need the help from the zebras.
tractor57ParticipantNo taking quarters off please.
tractor57ParticipantSame old moaning here. If you are so sure time for a change get off the wallet and offer to buy out the contract. It is easy to forget how bloody awful the last teams under TOB were. I see a base being built, possibly time to have the “savior” coach but to get there first one has to be identified, convinced to come to Raleigh and be paid. Until then we have what we have. Minus 3 or 4 serious mistakes (one which could well have been a staff call – the opening kick) we were right there. Good enough? No. But I also remember being in SC in the ’81 era and hearing the same crap from the chickens. Today they have cycled through being one of the top to back to a second tier. We can step up, probably should step up but until you beat the man you will never be the man. Hopefully we are on the right road. If not someone will have to pay – a lot.
tractor57ParticipantI saw enough issues to blame the loss on so as to not call out one unit. Special teams had issues, secondary had issues, offensive turnovers. I also saw some corrections to most. The kicking game is still problematic but I’ll have to see more than one game to decide if a fatal flaw. Now yes if we were honestly in the hunt then the performance probably would have killed that but I suspect we all can agree that really was not realistic. South Carolina was probably a team about our level right now and it became a pick ’em game thanks to the mistakes. Good enough? No. Unexpected to have a close game? No. My big issue is how we seem to take a quarter off. Maybe that was because of quicker adjustments by the SC staff, maybe we simply came back out flat.
tractor57ParticipantI think there is a decent chance to finish near the .500 mark – more than that just have to see. No doubt better comments about the team nationally this year. Are they there? Maybe not but I’m sure will be improved.
tractor57ParticipantExcept for two issues – on University property and probably way against the expectations set out by the coaching staff. Of those and sexual issues I know which is more important but I suspect there is a code of conduct for the football team.
tractor57ParticipantIf in fact there was some sort of unwanted sexual contact I think that is wrong – period. How wrong depends on the nature of the contact. Obviously there was a party of some sort, illegal substances consumed all on university property. If added to that there is evidence of sexual misconduct then it is time for the legal system. As far as I’m concerned (for now) the incident has been handled properly by the university and if there is more I would hope the university would not try to derail an investigation. My oldest granddaughter is considering her choices for furthering her education and State is one of the choices. If she chooses to attend State she should do with the knowledge the university and the legal system will be there if needed but until we know more we are not in a position to judge.
