You CAN and SHOULD be angry that the NC State administration quietly sits back and takes being led by the Swoffy Cabal. We NEVER should have agreed to stay in this stupid, corrupt conference without major, structural changes that included AT MINIMUM Swoffy’s departure and assurances that no future commissioner would have direct ties to a member institution again (ESPECIALLY an athletic department).
All that.
tjfoose1ParticipantHas a team every gone an entire season with the roster intact?
I coached a Pop Warner team that did once, and an NC State sorority flag football team that did too, all the way to nationals in New Orleans. But there were all kinds of other intrigue with that group.
But here’s a more on point question:
Does a frog bump his ass against a felled tree in the woods if no one knows the price of tea in China?
tjfoose1ParticipantUsually I find myself aligned with your perspective, but you are just being obstinate on this one.
I could understand that prospective if I hadn’t included an explicit statement of the assumption of an intact roster.
tjfoose1ParticipantI am shocked, shocked to find that gambling is
going on in here!I thought it was Renault that said that.
tjfoose1ParticipantCD wins this thread
Ah yes, Cowdogese… it can also take picture form, and like it’s written counterpart, it is often not understood.
Like any great artist, the messaging is often buried in interpretation.
tjfoose1ParticipantGiven that NC State is an engineering and technology school, I expect the State crowd to understanding at least the basic concepts and reasoning processes behind axioms, theorems, postulates, hypotheses, and the like
See what I did there?
Anywho, I therefore expect them to understand than when a given assumption is removed from a stated proposition, the reasoning dependent upon that assumption is no longer valid, as is the proposition itself.
Perhaps I expect too much from some.
tjfoose1ParticipantTroll,
Get over your fixation with me. It’s not healthy. I didn’t sleep with your significant other, on the floor or anywhere else. You are confused. Let it go.
Basic math tip: 9 + 1 = 10
State has one game to play. Caveats aside, win it, and that’s off by 2.
tjfoose1ParticipantWe beat Louisville with Shad and a healthy OL.
We were dominating VT before Jones got knocked out of the game. I immediately told the Hokie I went to Blacksburg with that w/o Jones, VT would be in the endzone within 5 plays.
If I’m remembering correctly, they did in 3 or 4. They attacked Pratt immediately after the injury. He’s beat on a pass play, he whiffs a tackle on a run play, then he’s beat for the TD.
The affect on the defense of losing Jones would’ve been similar to losing Jacoby on offense. Don’t care who VT had at QB.
That’s 2 more wins that’s put the Pack right on schedule.
But “what if’s” and “but’s” ain’t cutting it either way.
tjfoose1ParticipantMany of those projections came with the stated caveat of health and intact rosters.

Not all sacks are created equal. Id say RB’s, receivers, and the QB were responsible for more sacks than the OL.

Based on DD’s past, I’d be mildly surprised if there are not a few changes on the staff.

Can’t fault the guy for the ability he has, and does not have. He was the ideal player and teammate in every other way.

Offense did enough to win, but not enough to compensate for the defense.
Objectively, u*nc’s offense did about what it should have against our defense. u*nc’s offense is that good and aside from spot play, our defense is bad. A few ‘choice’ players have shown zero improvement. Some have regressed.
Would have zero objections to a change at DC. Never been a Hux fan, but was waiting for game 12, year 3 to make a judgment.
Still think it would be a mistake to replace Canada.
The Wolpack held serve in 2015, in a sport in which if you ain’t getting better, you’re falling further behind.
Barring an extreme season at either end of the spectrum next year, 2016 will set the parameters of Coach D’s referrendum 2017 season.
As I see it, anyway.
tjfoose1ParticipantI missed last night’s game but the Wolfpack looked pretty good down the stretch against #22 LSU.
Kinda puts a buzzkill on the masochistic schadenfreude though.
tjfoose1ParticipantMaybe he’s taking grad courses at Mizzou.
tjfoose1ParticipantBut geesh folks, it may very well be a long season, but it just started and the entire planned rotation was scrapped in game 1.
Gott is no Wooden and has his weaknesses, but he also has a few strengths. Maybe this year is the total disaster some of you are hoping for, but maybe it’s not. At least wait till the new year before going all Hansbrougesque and break out the Chicken Little.
tjfoose1ParticipantYou wouldnt take Richt or Miles over what we have now? Seriously?
It’s more complicated than that, but given the various side scenarios that would have to precede and then those that would follow, and the associated repercussions, and then what would follow those…. no, I would not.
And it’s not even close. I wouldn’t even consider it for more than 10 seconds, 15 on a slow day.
tjfoose1ParticipantThe whole idea of LSU firing Les Miles is beyond me and college football.
You gotta know the fan base.
With no name mentioned in a resume would you fire a coach with a 10 yr record averaging 10 wins a season? And throw in these couple asterisks: One National Championship, 3 SEC Championships. And just 3 weeks ago his team is ranked #2 in the Nation with a Heismen candidate on the roster? Plus a 20 million dollar buyout?
Me? No.
But at LSU? Absolutely. Not only would it not be a surprise, but would be half expected.
Same thing goes for Alabama.
tjfoose1ParticipantIf Miles or Richt got fired then we should pat DD on the head and send him on his way if we could get either of the 2.
That’s about 3 levels and 4 cuts of dumb
tjfoose1ParticipantGiven the history, if and when the job is open, LSU will be looking at Jimbo. He’s probably at the top of their list.
Chizik is not a fit for the Trojans, several different ways. Fuentes is, style wise, anyway.
I have no clue who VT hires, but I wouldn’t mind one bit if it resulted in Foster moving to Raleigh. Doubt it, but one can hope. To paraphrase TOB, that would be a triple play. X’s and O’s, recruiting, national credibility/exposure (at least in football circles).
tjfoose1ParticipantBurriss injury, ouch. Hope it’s not serious. Don’t see how we win next week w/o him.
Like our chances w him.
tjfoose1ParticipantGlad the defense excites you beej, but TMI.
tjfoose1ParticipantGood to see Reggie playing fast and not thinking so much.
tjfoose1ParticipantLooking like Jacoby brought his musket arm today.
tjfoose1ParticipantOh look, how thoughtful. They finally added a 2nd.
