^ I have not forgotten. But those “Inside-Inside-NCSTATE-people” were anti college athletics, anti Valvano, self centered, self absorbed corrupt egomaniacs who took the opportunity to pile on, given the green light by the pitch forks and torches of the William Friday, BOT, N&O led mob.

I question that they were actually “NCSTATE-people”. I suggest they were more of the Larry Nielsen/ Mary Easley type, ie, the inside, politically connected who used NC State as a conduit for self enrichment from the purse strings of the powerful. Their job was to not rock the boat, do as they’re told, and take home their paycheck.

No, there’s no reason at all for NC State fans to question the equity in which rules are applied and enforced. No, none at all.

    History and context.

Not insignificant in all this is the current ACC commissioner and his history of vindictive actions against fellow ACC schools while AD at u*nc.

Then there’s his selective advocacy for ACC schools who experience NCAA investigations. He travels to indianapolis to support his beloved heels, yet nothing for Ga Tech, Miami, and FSU for much less agregious violations.

I’m curious if the author is even aware of this history,or that Swofford played football at u*nc.

At let us not forget the whole Valvano fiasco, William Friday’s and the BOG’s “spirit of the rules” bulls**t. Valvano was getting too much attention and putting too big a spotlight on NC State. u*nc supporters couldn’t have that, so they used their collective power to bring him down. What was the quote of the N&O publisher, ” we are going to get him” or something along those lines?

I asked em what the score was and the replied, “our game?”, with big quizzical look. They seemed surprised anyone cared enough to ask. I guess when you play college baseball in LA, you fall pretty far down this list.

When they told me they beat Michigan, I said “nice job”. Then they gave the score to the Wolf pack game and my response was “screw you guys” :).

Chatted a bit and left em with “congrats on last year”.

I realize Im in the minority, but the season has gone about as I expected, actually maybe a little better if you factor in the good showings at Sryacuse and against the heels.

Met some of the UCLA guys at the airport. Dont think I’ve ever met more unassuming, down to earth college students in my life, let alone Div 1 and defending national champion athletes.

Anthropomorphic global warming is the wacky faith based religion of the left, so I guess a Jesus reference isn’t completely out of place.

That some of you support the EPA regulating CO2 as a toxin is about on par with thinking Jesus will save us from global warming.

Even though I’m prepping for a 2 week work trip to Mississippi, I took the time to go to go to the game today.

    We* had 10 turnovers.
    We* missed 18 2s.
    We* missed 15 3s.
    We* missed 12 freethrows.

    10 + 18 + 15 + 12 = 55 opportunities to win.

That’s simplistic thinking. Those opportunities were not in a vacuum. Every play, every score affects the subsequent play of both participants and the officiating crew. If we/Wolfpack (hope that is acceptable) cashes in on just one of those opportunities, the entire game is changed. u*nc reacts different, we/Wolfpack reacts differently, the officials react differently. IMO, the game is still ‘managed’ to the same result.

In addition, I’d argue that only 10 TO’s against a u*nc defense in a game officiated like a late 80’s Detroit Bad Boys Piston game (at least one side of it, anyway) was damn impressive. Don’t forget the asterisk on the Warren TO. That was a foul. So that’s a max of 9 true TO’s.

    But let’s get perspective:

    Turnovers
    Wolfpack: 10
    u*nc: 12

    Shooting
    Wolfpack: 2pt 22/40 55%; 3pt 7/22 32%
    u*nc: 2pt 23/51 45%; 3pt 7/15 47%

    Free Throws
    Wolfpack: 19/31 61%
    u*nc: 18/31 58%

So the Wolfpack outperformed the opponent in 3 out of the 4 stats you listed.

I suggest a few other important stats:
    Fouls: Warren/Page
4/0 (in spite of his all night hand checking, holds, and arm blocks)

    Minutes played: Warren/Page
    34/41

Sad. I’m not talking about their position, but the quality of the writing and how they go about making their argument. Linear, shallow thinking, thimble deep analysis. To respond would be like debating a 4th grader.

Though I did not see it myself, I’m not saying it did not happen. So I do agree with their statement:

And for State fans to be throwing debris on the court at the end of the game is simply unacceptable.

I would note, however, one should avoid starting a sentence with “And” in formal writing, and should never begin a paragraph with it. The article is a published editorial in a tri-weekly publication, no?

I did not mean to imply Ovies = Glenn. I wouldn’t do that to anyone.

I do, however, notice a similarity in their smugness. Ovies often has an “I’m above it all and know better, anyone who see’s it differently is just a dumb biased fan w/ no valid, logic based point.”

Maybe it’s just me. But I do admit, Ovies is much easier to tolerate, and can often be entertaining. To his credit, he’s open and honest about his trolling/snark, and he’s an equal opportunity offender.

^ A clock “malfunction” at Cameron, that greatly aids Duke in winning a one possession ball game in the closing seconds? Wha wha whhaaaat?…. Surely you do not mean to imply some sort of official malfeasance was at hand? Surely you jest?

If Clemson had only played better and been up by three in Duke’s final possession, that would have never happened. It’s their own dumb stupid fault, the big dummies. They gotta learn to overcome those occasion random qwerks in the clock that are part of the game.

Sorry, I’ll stop calling you Shirley.
