What a tale of two schools. We knock a team out of the tournament last year. This year they are in the championship game and we are 13 in the ACC.
Well, damn. I guess we should’ve lost to them.
Did Gregg Doyle steal Rick’s user credentials? Just wondering.

I wish you were too.
tjfoose1ParticipantGood job Pack!
I’m out.
tjfoose1ParticipantHaha… admins at it again.
tjfoose1ParticipantWow.
I honestly thought that was a joke when I first read it.
I guess that ends all debate on Cam’s “me first” attitude.
In the 4th quarter, down by a single score, deep in your own territory, in the freakin’ SUPER BOWL!?…
Wtf?… I guess I was even more right than I thought.
tjfoose1ParticipantAdmittedly, my judgment is influenced by his past actions. I think it was a reflexive “me first” reaction.
He started to go for the ball, then realized “oh, ***, that’s a mass of bodies going for that thing, I ain’t diving in that mess. Forget that s***, I’m the QB, I’m Cam Newton.”
Just one man’s take, but body language speaks volumes, and Cam has never been mute when it comes to body language.
tjfoose1ParticipantEven from my TV perspective in real time I thought it would be better to wait and see how the bounce went next given the location/direction it was heading.
I’m guessing you’ve never participated in a fumble drill. As a player, and certainly not as a coach. 🙂
From my perspective, it was immediately clear what it was.
A ‘business decision’ made by the latter 2/3’rds of someone who sees himself “not only as a football player, but an entertainer and icon.”
And he knows it, even if no one else does.
tjfoose1Participant^ I respectfully disagree, as I was addressing a direct comment that dispararaged my (and that of others) philosophical outlook. I was also responding, and wishing luck, to the announced action of another. I saw nothing more than slight jabs in either of our posts.
However, you have neither a quick nor overly sensitive trigger, so I see it as just that. A respectful disagreement.
tjfoose1Participant… or even YOUR wife
tjfoose1ParticipantAs for me, thanks for the updates, Sacco, and for time and effort put into them. Much appreciated.
tjfoose1ParticipantNope, I have it direct from the boy wonder genius that no one cares about wrestling.
tjfoose1ParticipantYou seem like an angry lil fella
Are we playing Jeopardy?
hmmm… Things you’re wife might say?
tjfoose1ParticipantMore random deleting going on.
tjfoose1ParticipantSee ya fair weather.
While I’m far from happy with the results of this year’s team, and have somewhat emotionally divested myself, I’m still a fan of my university and will continue to cheer on my fellow Wolfpack collegiate athletes as long as they put in the time and effort.
You might feel more at home with the fans of the school down the road.
Good luck.
WUF – Dunno who canned this, but I see no reason for it having been del’d. Please let me know if I’m missing something here.
tjfoose1ParticipantYeah I know I am going to come across as an inconsiderate a hole here.
But you get an A+ for consistency.
tjfoose1ParticipantHarmon chose the Pack.
tjfoose1ParticipantOdds of not being on the 2016-2017 NCSU bball team
Cat 100%
Abu 80%
Anya 50%
Twins 40%
Kirk 100%
Mav 50%This is from the same guy who asked that dumb question about freshmen point guards and thinks Chuck Amato should still be coaching the Wolfpack.
Just saying.
If the mouth will put up, I got a grand at those odds on any of them but Cat.
tjfoose1ParticipantThe 15th year of a coach at one school vs the 5th. Yes, huge difference, especially if you’re using the high spike pinnacle of that 15th year as the differentiation between the success of the two coaches, as you did.
HUGE.
tjfoose1ParticipantIf you’re gonna use that as a comparable metric, come back in 10 years. Last season was Brey’s 15th at ND.
tjfoose1ParticipantFWIW.
The short week heading into the u*nc game, State is coming off the Miami game, the cheats, The Citadel.
I can see big picture pros and cons.
tjfoose1ParticipantYear 5 and only 1 point guard on the roster does not appear to be a recipe for success.
Smh.
Technically, there is more than one point guard on the roster. Yeah, no one counts the mop up crew, but in this case, it’s a relevant point.
Quality point guards aren’t going to come if they see likely bench time and talent ahead of them. It’s the state of college basketball in 2016.
Two McD’s left because Barber was ahead of them. No ACC ready point guard was going to sign as long as Barber was around. Period.
Lacey was to be the backup point this year.
All signs point to this being Barber’s last year, and literally, THE top ranked point guard in his class is sitting on the bench ready to take the reigns next year.
Some people gonna bitch and point fingers regardless, but missed the mark on this one.
tjfoose1ParticipantThat was very State of them.
tjfoose1ParticipantJust hoping for an NIT invite and a long run in it, if for no other reason, to give Frenchy and Henderson more time to recover from injury and develop for next season.
But I’m expecting a season’s end one or two games into the ACC Tourney.
Divest now, if you haven’t already.
tjfoose1ParticipantAnd as soon as I posted the above, I see two of you had already, indirectly at least, made the same point.
Some of us are on the same page, anyway, if not the same paragraph.
tjfoose1ParticipantOne thing I haven’t seen mentioned, yet, is the reasoning behind having empty scholly slots.
It’s not a season by season consideration. It’s a long term projection that can be somewhat precarious if you’re not a Kentucky, Duke, or Kansas who can just stockpile talent every year.
But even Duke is having problems this year. So my overall point above was, that even if arguably THE top PROGRAM in the country can have a season with a clusterf**k roster, certainly it is not unreasonable for NC State to find itself in the midst of one, especially given the circumstances that lead to it.
If you’re targeting and recruiting top talent, you don’t want to fill a 4 year scholly spot with a marginal fall back plan. Especially when you have projections for those spots to be filled the following year.
Those criticizing Gott for not doing this are the same ones criticizing him for players transferring for more playing time after better talent is brought in.
It’s an art, managing a major college basketball roster year to year in today’s world of one-and-done and mass transfers, and Gott got bit this year.
I’m not saying Gott is blameless, nor am I saying it is his fault. I’m simply adding this consideration to the discussion, as I had not yet seen it mentioned. Apologies if it was and I missed it.
