Oh, and yes, thank you for your service. As someone born at the Parris Island base hospital, I know and appreciate the sacrifices made.

FWIW, cbssports.com has us projected for the Pinstripes bowl vs Minnesota. Having spent a number of years in MN, I would love a matchup against the gophers in NYC.

    And then there’s Glennon.

He’s getting some love, from his local media if not from his coach. If he were healthy, Lovie would be putting McCown back in next week, I promise you.

Mike Glennon should be Bucs’ starter from now on

Mike Glennon once again looks like Bucs’ QB of futureen to the air.

This was Joe Montana stuff, a cool-as-ice, cat-burglar kind of performance. It made his coach a winner again. It stopped his team from being a punch line. It returned the blue to the sky and the oxygen to the air.

…Glennon was Manning-for-a-day. In the second half, he led his team on drives of 80 yards, 83, 61 and, for the win, 46 yards with no timeouts. In the fourth quarter alone, he threw for 148 yards. On second and 23, the second-year quarterback hit a 21-yard completion to set up a third-down conversion and keep a drive going.

    In a word, “NO”.

He’s as likely to go to Kansas as we are of hiring John Bunting and Butch Davis as assistant coaches.

On a completely different subject, I’m starting to love the way Dravious Wright #8 play football, aside from his coverage skills that is.

He’s a sophomore, listed at 5’10”, 205 lbs. He has buku playmaking ability, but from what I’ve seen thus far, his coverage ability at this level doesn’t appear to come naturally and seems to be holding him back.

That means, to me anyway, the Wolfpack is not maximixing his ability, and thus limiting his contributions and potential.

Given the current personel, he and Buckley must be the best options for the rover position (duh, I know, otherwise someone else would be
    playing).

We don’t seem to have a true hybrid with the right combination of high skill sets right now.

But I think he’s sacrificing for the team and playing out of position. He reminds me a little of Nate Irving.

I’m hoping/guessing/thinking that if recruiting hits the mark, and back fills the rover spot, we might see a bulked up version of #8 at LB season.

Something I’d look at and consider, anyway, if I werevon staff.

Keep that in mind next time #8 (or #6 for that matter) appears to let their man get open. They’re the best we got right now, and they’re giving their best.

Frustrating yes, but you can’t blameva dog for not having wings.

I really liked the play called when Leatham took over for JB for one play.

Same here. I was wondering what they were going to do. Loved it. They let Apex go for it, but kept it safe. The fade to the corner, minimal risk with high chance for reward. Love these coaches. Even the little things tell me why.

I thought we definitely sounded classless booing dudes on the ground.

I started booing late in the game, when it became obvious. #90 was the worst. He was also the one most often getting gassed, even in the 1st quarter. After his ‘injury’, he lay motionless on the ground as if he was dead, only to quickly return to the game.

The boos were for faking injuries, not actual injuries. Sure, a few mighta been legit, but it’s the cheating tactic that is getting the boos, not individual incidents. The fault lies with FSU for crying wolf too many times. If the FSU fans can’t see it, they’re stupid. If they refuse to see it, well, they’re being emotional fans absent of objectivity. Either way, the boos (late in the game) were well justified.

Hey CowDog, if you see this: is it just me, or do you see similarities between Bo Hines and your boy Abbrederis, formerly with Wisconsin? something about the way Bo runs his routes made me think that direction…?

That’s it, thank you. I knew he reminded me of someone, but didn’t know who. Was thinking it was a former NC State WR but couldn’t place it. Now I understand why, it was a former NC State QB throwing him the ball.

What?! Dirt plays are the best! I say we run the jet sweep, out of the wildcat, with Jacoby being the ‘jet’, motioning in from the left and receiving a direct snap while running at full speed, with the option to execute…

    1) the option with the back as the pitch man
    2) a reverse with the opposite wide out
    3) the jet sweep pass with a crossing TE
    4) a reverse option pass
    5) a shuffle pass to the up back or TE
    6) a double reverse
    7) a double reverse pass
    8) a double reverse, w a pitch man option

    Yeah! All of those!

I got more, but I’m out of dirt

I like it as a quiver in the mix. I entered a somewhat lengthy post a few weeks ago as to why, so I’m not going to repeat myself here.

I commented yesterday that given the situation and circumstances, I didn’t understand 4 or so of the calls in middlish/late parts of the game, but I’ll keep it at that, “not understanding”.

I loved it early, as FSU was confused and on their heels. I loved the first play, as I believe it set a tone and put FSU d’s on notice, loosening them up and making them think. It played a roll in our early success. The formation was very successful early on. It played a roll in our other plays being successful.

But their D eventually settled in and adjusted. They pulled up the backers directly behind the line, in a few cases, concentrated at the off tackle (I’m assuming they had a read. It appeared to be a good one. This move countered the jet sweep and the back/TE release from the line, though some of their tactics were not exactly legal). We ran it a few more times for little gain. I was fine with that. Then we kept doing it, with FSU countering in the same way. I wasn’t a big fan of it, but ok, assumed we were verifying their reads and adjustments, that we were locking them in. But then we never countered?

It’s up to the back to make the reads, so for all I know, counters were called but not executed. For two or three of the plays, it did appear as if we were giving away a down (as someone commented earlier). I stated so myself at the time.

But I’ll keep it at “not understanding” and “appear”, for I know enough to know I don’t know enough. Given the totality of the offensive game plan and play calling, I have absolutely zero complaints. None. Nada. No one here, NO ONE (well maybe 1 or 2, but certainly none of those criticizing the general concept), including myself, knows enough to justifiably criticize one component of the play calling while understanding how and why it affects the rest.

In short, Canada gets the benefit of the doubt until he proves he shouldn’t. The sunshine crew will continue to bitch, but that’s what they do.

Three weeks ago, if told how the game played out, the coaches would be labeled geniuses. Now it’s time to nitpick?

offense has 10 players to block 11 (the ball carrier is the 11th). When you take the QB and split him wide, essentially you are now 9 on 11. now add to the fact we have not thrown out of the formation, the D can now put 8 or 9 in the box.

Mike, with all due respect, that comment (not you) is dumb. You’re showing you do not understand the basic concepts. The inverse is true. As for splitting the QB wide, do you not see a DB out there with him? Do you think the QB is split simply to get him out of the way?

Anyway, the dropsies didn’t caust us the game. It was the fact that DD and staff are completely over their heads. Silly boys, thinking they belong in real D1 competition.

Yep, just like in basketball. The team had plenty of opportunities to win. It’s their own damn fault, the bunch of losers. If they had scored a TD on every possession and not allowed FSU to get a single first down, they win easy.

Really hope DD will be able to catch on as an assistant at Athens Drive once Yow wises up.

Yep, CD and I agree once again. Since Doeren likes the area so much, maybe he’ll be able to catch on as an assistant at Athens Drive. Once Yow catches on, that is.

That means the Pack is way awesomer than we thought, right?

Yep, at least to the Sunshine crew who can’t get past any analysis deeper than the transitive property.

This coaching staff ain’t of the roller coaster variety. I saw lots that reaffirmed my thoughts tonight. We’re still in the middle of judging, but I damn well sure like what I’m seeing.

Next week is another huge test for this team, for these coaches. I ain’t talking about the opponent.

I’ll say it yet AGAIN. We are lucky to have Doeren and Canada. My biggest concern is our ability to keep them. Hopefully family and quality of life issues are notches in our column.

Defense has a way to go, but improvements continue. I’m not gonna fault a brunette for not being a blonde, nor a blonde for no red, and visa-versy 6 ways around.

I have been pulling for FSU recently but this fake injury crap has stopped that.

Same here. I thought nothing of it until the 3rd or 4th one, while noting when they happened. I asked those around me if Jimbo had hired Coach K as a consultant.

If I were Doreen I would have one of my players faking an injury Evey play to make a point.

I mentioned that myself to those around me… said it would be ‘something’ if we had the entire defense fall down on the last play and fake an injury to make a point.

Probably not think it was such a great idea in the morning, but at the time, would have been satisfying to publicly make my point to all of college football.

    You can’t possibly be serious.

I am absolutely 100% serious. Given when they happened, why they happened, what was happening when game play was stopped, what happened (and why, and who forced it) immediately after game play resumed, I am absolutely 100% serious.

The “injuries” did not happen in a vacuum.

Great effort from the Wolfpack, great game. Aside from the questionable ending, game played out to script for what needed to happen for a Wolfpack victory.

You of the Wolfpack ‘sunshine’ crew can suck it.

Aside from about 4 of the middle game Wildcat plays (which given the situation and circumstance, I still don’t understand), Canada called pretty damn close to a perfect game.

Lost ALL respect for FSU. All respect. Without the graduates of the Keanu School of Acting, the Wolfpack wins the game. No doubt, no question.

Jacoby IS the next great Wolfpack QB. Fernandez, something there.

Marcus and Bryce were on the same Pop Warner team; their dads’ where the coaches. Both fathers know the recruiting game. I seriously doubt either father guides them to NC State, though anything is possible, I guess.

    They were fast then too.

And if these colors don’t work, tomorrow we may be the Scarlet, Cream and Brown from NC State.

Brown was the official NC State sports teams color before red.

At some point one would hope that ANYONE… would have the common courtesy to respect their teammates &/or the organization who is paying you to deliver what you said you would deliver.

You did use the word ‘hope’, so it works. In this “me first, entitlement, government owes me, self absorbed, I’m special” society, ‘hope’ is just about all you can do.
