Texas Southern had 1 win entering today’s contest in East Lansing … they won at Michigan State in OT.
What? A mid December loss to an inferior opponent? No excuses, off with their heads! A not so inconspicuous contingent on this site would be calling for Izzo to be fired.
tjfoose1Participantbecause I’m backing a cake during the times games are played.
Is that related in any way to what Jason Biggs did to an apple pie?
tjfoose1ParticipantAppears the last entry was in August, which would be consistent with that ranking.
tjfoose1ParticipantJust my opinion based on what I’ve seen. I’m no draft expert or NFL talent evaluator.
Lots of RBs in NFL that were ‘unknowns’ in college football. Shad shares the skill set they have in common.
He won’t get drafted high though. With the NFL’s RB by committee nowadays, very very few are.
tjfoose1ParticipantShad would make an NFL roster. Speed, strength, hands, quickness, enough elusivity, and runs HARD. Always ‘finished’ runs and a great YAC.
IMO, as an RB, he’d be wise to enter the draft now.
tjfoose1ParticipantTheir justification for calling them good appears to be because they beat us. Circular reasoning at its finest.
Another explanation could be somebody doesn’t understand the definition of ‘good’ (RPI 52 in this case), confusing it with varying degrees of excellent or great, or somebody is full of narrow minded bitterness just looking for an excuse to express it, or somebody is in desperate need of getting laid.
To those with a little wider view, very few early Dec losses could be legitimately catagorized as ‘bad’, even if the only benefit is to expose weaknesses, focus team effort, or otherwise prepare the team for later season play. This is true even if his majesty says otherwise. That’s the point of early season scheduling, but I guess we could go back to the strategy of HWSNBN.

Was this a single loss in early December to a solid ball team (albeit still an upset) or a first round exit in the NCAA tourney to a 16th seed?
tjfoose1ParticipantGrey wakes up with his fur ruffled. He’s becoming a curmudgeon like me that way.
tjfoose1ParticipantRight call. It’s one game.
Don’t know how some can manage the strength to get out of bed in the morning. Some people lead sad lives.
tjfoose1ParticipantYep, agreed.
The current leadership seems to ‘get it’. I’m a little surprised they haven’t already done something. Perhaps they are working towards it behind the scenes?
I know Nicole but haven’t spoken to her in years. Ill have to ask her if/when I next see her.
tjfoose1ParticipantPerhaps the title of the book Valvano authored will provide insight.
They Gave Me a Lifetime Contract, and Then They Declared Me Dead
The ‘They’ in the title is NC State. Not fans nor students, but the weak and cowardly institutional leadership.
If I were a Valvano family member, there would need be a lot of very loud and very public apologies and mea culpas before I even considered some sort of formal, or even informal, relationship.
tjfoose1ParticipantAlso would need to check stats of all non Wolfpack games officiated by Luckie. Would need to compare if the increase in called fouls was across the board for all teams, and thus not anti-Pack. Or perhaps just a few teams? Or maybe for most teams save those of a shade of blue?
That written, Luckie is a dick. Would seem he’s not alone.

They’re a useless to negative add to the conference in too many ways, sports and otherwise.
Deals should be about mutual benefit, not charity.
If your only reasons for wanting to add ECU is football and baseball, think again.
Aside from a major case of over valueing the supposed benifit, consider Duke.
How often does State play Duke? Who controls when, where, and how often?
12/09/2014 at 3:01 AM in reply to: You can switch one team out of conference who goes and who comes #64868tjfoose1Participant^ What Wuf said.
tjfoose1ParticipantWhere exactly is the exposure?
So you’re saying that in spite of all the local sponsorships and business/gov’t tie-ins, and the associatec economic impact, you think the bowl game, and the week long schedule of bowl activities leading up to it, gets no additional local hype or media coverage?

Not that anyone here cares, but WKU is off to the Bahamas! Can’t share anything else yet.

You’re pulling a Roger Clemons.
No comparison between the two as college receivers. Robinson was one of the best the short time he was here. He was a game breaker, a game changer.
Don’t have to believe me, just look at the awards and recognition he received while at State, and where the NFL rated and drafted him.

12/06/2014 at 2:22 PM in reply to: NC State Football By The Numbers – Post UNCheat Beatdown Edition #64268tjfoose1ParticipantNot every premature prediction turns out to be wrong…
I wouldn’t call a prediction whose roots go back to Jimbo’s playing days in WV “premature”. It only appears that way to others who do not share the same info and experience.
As to the current “premature prediction” of “it’s pretty obvious to me there’s something brewing in Raleigh”, is neither premature nor a prediction.
But some folks apparently need something to argue about.
I’ll stand by my
12/06/2014 at 1:01 PM in reply to: NC State Football By The Numbers – Post UNCheat Beatdown Edition #64253tjfoose1ParticipantGuess I jumped gun when I prematurely predicted Jimbo would get FSU ‘back’ and win title during his first year in Tallahassee.
Actually, I think it was before he had coached a single FSU game, when I was discussing how Fowler cancelled Jimbo’s interview (and the potential for a Jimbo/Bo combo) and announced TOB as coach.
12/06/2014 at 12:52 PM in reply to: NC State Football By The Numbers – Post UNCheat Beatdown Edition #64252tjfoose1ParticipantIf all I had was what occured between the lines last week (or any week, for that matter), I might agree that all I am contributing is wishful thinking or premature predictions.
12/06/2014 at 2:52 AM in reply to: NC State Football By The Numbers – Post UNCheat Beatdown Edition #64243tjfoose1ParticipantGrey – my comment was a direct response to Rick’s. I hadn’t even read the others at the time. I purposely do that at times so as not to skew my perspective, similar to sharing post game comments before reading post game media and coach’s comments.
I do need to make an effort to be more clear though.
I enjoy your comments. Keep em coming.
12/05/2014 at 9:30 PM in reply to: NC State Football By The Numbers – Post UNCheat Beatdown Edition #64240tjfoose1ParticipantI just read the other posts that followed Rick’s to which I responded. Apologies for the redundancy.
The easiest way to understand ‘Dog-ese is to already have a pretty good idea of what he is saying before you read it. Kinda like reverse engineering.
That’s my secret, anyway.
12/05/2014 at 9:24 PM in reply to: NC State Football By The Numbers – Post UNCheat Beatdown Edition #64239tjfoose1ParticipantOh my that seems like a bit of an over reaction to one game.
Who said anything about one game? My comment it’s based on a 2 year (not 2 season) body of work.
What is obvious to some may not be visible to others because they don’t understand what they see, let alone what for what they should look.
