tjfoose1Participant
Gonna go out on a limb and say the Wolfpack has this one wrapped up. Nice job.
Syracuse betting Syracuse, regardless of outcome I’m expecting the right mentality and a good effort Saturday.
tjfoose1ParticipantI’m saying that all that talk about “hard work” is rarely mentioned by people that “work hard”.
Which is relevant here because DD and crew have obviously been doing nothing but sitting on their collective fat ass thinking up cute quotes to build up a “to seem rather than to be” culture.
Sometimes condescending snugness can lead one to attempts of being too cute.
tjfoose1Participant… but I personally don’t remember them ever choking and simultaneously laying an egg like what we saw this past weekend.
There were a few, but not many. Think Murray State (but that brings up other ‘issues’) and potentially any game that had Kenny Drummond in the line up.
Then the 1989 ACC tourney debacle of #1 Wolfpack vs #8 (and last place) Maryland. NC State had 3 first team All ACC players (Corch, Monroe, Chucky) while Maryland had only one conference win. To this day, baffling… only thing I can attribute it to is the combo of the exhausting triple OT game the week before against Wake and the breaking of the “Personal Fouls” story.
tjfoose1ParticipantFWIW, MarketWatch says I’m buying up all the Archie I can. Better early returns and much bigger upside. Gott is merely a hold.
tjfoose1ParticipantTo clarify further, lest I risk being
misunderstood, I am neither complaining nor expressing dissatisfaction – and I did state as much above. In fact, overall, though not overly excited today, I’m satisfied, bordering on somewhat happy, with the overall direction on the program.
I’m just calling it like I see it, stating one man’s hypothesis that I’ll hold to till I see enough contradictory evidence.
I need something to understand to assist against the insanity.
tjfoose1Participantmak – Its not the players fault.
That. It’s the coach. Not only indirectly because of the accountability of the head coach, but directly, because it is his own doing.
Not bashing him, just stating what has finally become obvious, to me anyway. I accept it. I’ll take the bad with the good. I’ll also hope the coach grows as a person, and is able to apply that growth to his coaching.
tjfoose1ParticipantGuys we did win after the big win at Louisville. It can be done.
Yes, but the team – coaches and players – knew there was still work to be done. They knew they were still in the hole they had dug themselves, and that then was not the time to relax. After they beat u*nc, everything about the head coach said we’ve accomplished something, time to exhale and relax.
tjfoose1ParticipantIf the basketball staff is at a loss, maybe they might want to consider talking to the football S&C guys. No legitimate excuse to be tired or emotionally flat and give that performance against that opponent. None. Not with a 4 day rest, and not with the basketball schedules they’ve played their entire lives.
tjfoose1ParticipantLook at this way. Think of your top college coaches, any sport.
When is the last time you ever saw one react as Gott did (in actions and words) Tues after a regular season win.
The players absorb that. They adapt it. They’ll occasionally say the right thing, but it’s not a switch that can be flipped.
After the Louisville game, the team knew they were still in the hole and much work left to be done. Not so after Tues.
tjfoose1ParticipantI would feel there was more merit to it had the Hole game been on Wed or Thurs.
Not with this coach’s personality type. You want regimented, no time to waste, no room for error.
Anything less leads to a focus and urgency reflective of it.
That’s the cycle. Learn to accept it.
tjfoose1ParticipantBut it could be my fault. I didn’t do my reverses mojo Chewbacca defense and bet against the ‘Pack like I did for the VT game.
Sorry fellas.
tjfoose1ParticipantI now understand. Seriously.
Until Gott changes himself (and I’m not talking coaching), his teams will continue to rise to the challenge when facing adversity, but continue to fail miserably in the midst of success. Think about it. If you know Gott’s history, and watched the u*nc post game, you’ll get it.
It won’t change. Accept the roller coaster. Enjoy the highs, expect the lows. Beat’s the helloutta everything we’ve had since V.
Football, on the other hand, is different. DD will quench your thirst for excellence and consistency.
tjfoose1ParticipantSo, if we shave 2 pts per minute off the lead…
I go outside and look for flying pigs.
tjfoose1ParticipantNo one here can say they are surprised. Once the consensus was that this team was easily in the tourney, you knew this was coming.
Maybe after the next big win, for the next game, Gott should bench the entire starting lineup until the first TV timeout. Evaluate and go from there.
Seriously. What is there to lose?
There is an unmistakable pattern that spans season to season, so it has to be coaching. For the first time, we may have seen a public glimpse of it after the u*nc win. I know what I saw concerned me. But anyway… do something different coach, even if only for different’s sake.
tjfoose1ParticipantMaybe the team has collective ADHD. Can’t focus for more than one game in a row.
tjfoose1ParticipantYeah… This is about right.
tjfoose1ParticipantSomebody call the “PC I’m Offended Grievance” police. He called him ‘boy’.
That’s has to rate as at least a micro aggression to the white privilege /guilt/ get-a-life-I-go-looking-for-excuses-to-be-offended crowd.
tjfoose1ParticipantWhat about Roy’s BB gun?
tjfoose1ParticipantForgive them Dean, for they know not what they do.
tjfoose1ParticipantHow offensive, he said “white team”.
tjfoose1ParticipantYou ‘said’ the name of HWSNBN.
tjfoose1Participant… in the year of our Lord 2015
Now you’ve really gone and done it. Talk about offensive. What a hateful and insensitive thing to write, you bigoted Bible thumper you.
02/25/2015 at 12:08 PM in reply to: State wins in Chapel Hill! Has Dean Smith’s pact with the devil expired? #75915tjfoose1ParticipantSome of you might need a reminder that there’s a difference between ‘insensitive’ and ‘offensive’.
But then again, it today’s PC ultra soft, p***y ass society, being offended has become and industry and ‘offensive’ is whatever one says it is.
Dean cheated, local media conspired to protect him while promising to bring down and “get” Jimmy V. All the while that other bastion of u*nc virtue, Mr Friday, turned a blind eye to Deano while crucifying V, not for breaking the rules, but for violating the spirit of them so as to protect the integrity ofthe ACC and the UNC system. Give me a freakn break.
Dean was a good man in many ways. He was also flawed. He gave in to the pressure, he cheated, and he defrauded many of his own players.
His dementia shielded him from the ongoing scandal, it did not rewrite history.
Too soon? Insensitive? Yeah, most likely. Legitimate? Damn sure is.
I find the clueless sanctimony more offensive than the question.
I find the one sided ongoing media lionization offensive. Praise the good, But acknowledge the flaws.
Offensive? 20+ years and counting and V is still waiting for the apology.
tjfoose1ParticipantYikes!
tjfoose1ParticipantI got your back, beej. Wuf doesn’t know where I live.
