Ryebread – nice summary. Agree with all of it except the JB part. I agree somewhat, but in spite of my below comments, I give him much more credit. He’s too much of a play maker to fit your description, way too much.
Fair enough, JasonP. I didn’t say they were great, just disagreed that they are not a good team. I’m not a Petrino fan, but he’s a damn fine college football coach. Louisville will keep getting better as the season progresses. Their two DT’s make their entire defense better. They were the perfect match up at the right place at the right time to stymie our offense. Louisville won’t win the Atlantic, but they’ll be a factor. Clemson is lucky they played em early.
State is progressing. Given the weather, the week leading up to the game, their announced starter at QB, and Petrino, I wasn’t surprised by the game. Was worried about their QB the whole week, given the match up with our D. Actually, I kinda expected more big plays from him. I would have much preferred their passing QB be the starter. I was disappointed in State’s performance, yes, but not surprised. I was reassured though, if not encouraged, by the halftime adjustments.
We have the right coaches in place. The rest will come. That said, I think Petrino bested them Saturday, more so than the players. And our coaches know it. I see a heated rivalry developing. A learning experience for all. That’s how you get better.
I rarely disagree with CD, but this is one of those times. Jacoby’s accuracy in his downfield passing game still concerns me. Not saying it’s not there, but from my vantage point, it’s not proven reliable. Not yet, anyway. Please show me different, JB.
tjfoose1ParticipantCards aren’t that good
Wrong. You’re assuming they’re the same team you saw earlier in the season when they were struggling with the QB position and an identity.
tjfoose1ParticipantI was adding the ACC conference championship game. Playoff never entered my mind. But if wanna get crazy, yeah, theoretically, 14-1 is possible.
tjfoose1ParticipantIMO many fans have overestimated the strength of the passing game.
I agree. Jacoby’s downfield accuracy is suspect. It’s his one weakness.
Where was Gallaspy yesterday? Was sure with Shad gone, he would see increased playing time.
He did get increased playing time. He only got one carry, but he was on the field often.
tjfoose1ParticipantI think we’ll finish somewhere between 12-1 and 4-8.
Kinda going out on a limb. I can respect that. But I think you mean somewhere between 13-1 and 4-8
tjfoose1Participant7-5?
I’m sticking to my 10 win prediction too, though the caveat when made was barring injury or loss of major contributors. So with that, I’ll take a margin of error of -1.
If God never created mopeds, Louisville leaves Raleigh with a loss.
tjfoose1ParticipantAnd hope Jacoby had nothing more than weather effected issues.
tjfoose1ParticipantJets sweeps? Seriously?
There’s a reason why we didn’t run them in mass today. Actually, there were at least three reasons.
Nothing in sync today for several reasons. Learn from it and move on. If today is repeated next week, then bring out the whiney bitching and team ripping.
tjfoose1ParticipantAnd for Thornton, his presence today wouldn’t have made much difference with our O line and their defense
Understandable statement, but I disagree. That was exactly the type of game Shad’s style and specific strengths would have been ideal.
Shad’s absence and their DT’s were huge factors.
Jacoby was either having unusual difficulty with the wet ball or he was fighting through a dinged wing today.
Disappointed today, but it’s just a minor bump. Big picture was bad, but there was a lot of good to see if you knew what you were looking at.
Lots of idiocy on the boards today.
tjfoose1ParticipantIn a way this helps us out with the log jam in the backfield. I kind of felt like the staff didn’t think Shad would be here given we recruited so many backs.
The outcome is what it is, so it doesn’t really matter, but there was no log jam and Shad’s status had nothing to do with the recruiting.
tjfoose1ParticipantAmen Grey’.
Nothing happens, nothing, no arrest, no coverage, nothing, if Shad wasn’t an NC State football or basketball player. Period.
This was local media gleefully throwing red meat in a corrupt morally equivalency game. Same old same old, not too different to Alaa Abdelnaby’s DUI getting buried on page 28D while Shackleford’s speeding ticket was front page news and the lede on the nightly news.
tjfoose1ParticipantI don’t definitive KNOW how things are today, but such rules in my day covered game day access to game field, not practice facilities.
Schedule permitting, could usually get access for a walk through the day before, but I don’t think that was required by rule.
But aside from that, there’s courtesy and being a good host per logistical accommodations for inclement weather.
tjfoose1ParticipantWuf’, I had the same thoughts about DeCock’s article.
From the other article you linked to:
“I understand that he was polite, cooperative and gave the officers a full statement about what happened,” Turner said. “I understand that after the accident he did have a conversation with the victim before leaving the scene.”
I understand it’s the HISTORY here that is key, and given what we know, it’s probably the right thing to do, but man… I’m not sure what else I would have done if I had been in that same situation. If they guy said he was ‘cool’, I wouldn’t have thought there was anything else I needed to do.
Driving a moped on the sidewalk, yeah, that’s an issue. But I’m at that same intersection numerous times each week, and given the traffic, what I’ve seen there, and the time of night, yeah, I can understand why Shad was on the sidewalk and not in the road. I’m not excusing it, just saying I can understand it.
Just wow, what a way to ago. That scooter brought with it 50% of the incidents that got Shad in the wrong headlines. A freak’n scooter. smh
tjfoose1ParticipantHe’ll make an NFL roster.
By the way the games are played today, I’d bet he’ll be a better pro than college player.
tjfoose1ParticipantBut how do you get charged with failure to render aid when there are no injuries?
tjfoose1ParticipantYeah, something ain’t right here. We’re not getting the whole story, yet. But still, DUMB.
HUGE loss. HUGE. The chances if hitting our ceiling just took a very big hit.
tjfoose1ParticipantYou could say that of someone on every score.
tjfoose1ParticipantBeing top 25 ranked has been the kiss-of-death of State for as long as I can remember.
True. But that was under different leadership when the Pack was made of different stuff.
tjfoose1ParticipantJacoby Brissett has a higher NFL ceiling than Philip Rivers or Russell Wilson.
Higher ceiling? Can’t say I see that, or even considered it as a possibility. But I’m no QB guru.
The Wolfpack was/is certainly blessed to have each one of them, no question.
Though both are great leaders, I don’t see Jacoby carrying the teams that Wilson did.
Those Wilson lead teams win 3 games w/o him. His one year in Madison showed what he could do with an OL and running game.
But anyway, to be a QB in the NFL requires greater accuracy than JB has shown to date. If Jacoby is to have any chance of a career in the NFL, he’s got to show better accuracy and consistency in his deeper mid to long passing game.
Not a knock, not at all. Love the guy and what he’s done for the team and program. Just an honest assessment.
Also, though they had their faults, TOB and Bible deserve much of the credit for developing RW and getting him NFL ready. I LOVE Canada as a college OC, but he has yet to show how/if his tutelage and system/concepts translate to effective NFL prep.
tjfoose1Participant“It’s time for Russell to move on. He’s no longer focused on football and is just hurting the team. Glennon will be better anyway.”
tjfoose1ParticipantThe start time is unfortunate. At least 2 five star basketball recruits had to cancel because they couldn’t get in to town that early.
Just plain dumb.
tjfoose1ParticipantAhhhhh Bailey. She grew on me, and yes, though Jennifer was the shiny ball, as the shows went by, Bailey wound up on top. Nice form, but with that girl-next-door, approachable vibe going on too. Not so dissimilar from Ginger vs Mary Ann question or the lesser known Lisa vs Heidi (Home Improvement).
tjfoose1ParticipantToo bad. Would be awesome if they’d do a live turkey drop instead, a la WKRP.
That was an excellent episode. Excellent show too, doesn’t get its due. That said, I wonder how popular it would have been without one Jennifer Marlowe.
tjfoose1ParticipantVia bball’s twitter feed….
Bad news: 10:45am start.
Good news: free t-shirt for the first 750 folks still sober enough to find their way there from tailgating.Well that’s not very smart. Is Yow channeling her inner LF?
tjfoose1ParticipantTHANK YOU for posting.
