Not weird at all. It’s troll piece in search of clicks.
It has Duke’s Grayson Allen at 41.
tjfoose1ParticipantAnd don’t forget about Lou’s son down in northern LA. If I remember correctly, he inherited a depleted offense but didn’t Skip a beat after following behind Sonny.
Actually, given the history and familiarity, book it.
Skip Holtz to Columbia. That is if there’s no bad blood.
tjfoose1ParticipantId have Fritz (Ga Southern) and Brown (Troy) among my list to consider. Jeff Brohm should be considered if they want to go with the hip and trendy, ie young offensive guru.
Or they could go train wreck entertainment and go after Sarkisian if he promised to bring back Garcia as an assistant.
tjfoose1ParticipantGiven the setting on the home front, the QB Gator situation comes as not a surprise. His dad went to ECU, but his uncle went to State.
Confused? Google papa Grier and think about it.
This might be LSU’s year. There seems to be some unusual quirk almost every week that adds to their chances of winning.
tjfoose1Participant^ Can’t disagree. However…
The complaining has been positioned as if the schedule was by design. At WORST, it was a quick fix. My understanding (though I can not attest as gospel truth), is that the administration did try to get bigger schools, but were unsuccessful due to the time constraints and the demand from NC State that it be a home-and-home (as opposed to NC State getting a one game deal with the Wolfpack on the road). The administration even had difficulty promising paydays for smaller schools. Thus, we wound up with 2-for-1 (2 games at CF for 1 game away) deals with FBS schools outside the Power 5.
As for DD’s comments, he said he wouldn’t apologize for the schedule. What was he supposed to say? He went on to make the point that for a young team in only his 2nd year, he’d prefer the schedule he had vs a 1-3 record. Now that logic can be argued, but that’s not the argument that has been made.
I didn’t like the schedule either, for the reasons now being espoused by the Monday morning QB’s (and my suspicion is that DD didn’t too much care for it either, but he’s certainly not going to admit that, and the reasons why). I wasn’t going to, and haven’t, complained about it because I know how it came about.
Somewhere in the past few years I remember DD talking about his philosophy of an ideal schedule. I promise you, the 2015 version was not it.
Anyway, your points are understood and have merit. I just get tired of the clueless whining from some.
.
tjfoose1Participant^ There’s a reason for that.
For decades, such folks were not only NOT actively cultivated, but they were eschewed by the University leadership who liked to fashion themselves as purest ‘elites’, all the while they fattened their own personal bank accounts via graft and political corruption as long as they maintained the status quo and did not rock the boat.
u*nc is in a class by itself with its institutionalize corruption. But at least over there, it was corruption to forward the betterment (as they saw it) of the university. At NC State, the corruption structured for personal enrichment, at the expense of the university.
tjfoose1ParticipantI do…and we can play the moneyline.
For what it’s worth, probably nothing, but going into the Louisville game, State was 7-0 in its last 7 in covering the spread. Since, 0-2.
tjfoose1ParticipantThe schedule whining is getting tired.
Sure, the 4 non conference games are not what any of us wanted, but it wasn’t planned out that way. Originally, the ACC was going to be playing 9 conference games this year. Also, 2015, I think, as originally planned was to be the year we played LSU or Notre Dame, that is, before the quasi addition of ND to the ACC and LSU bought out the contract.
It wasn’t the first time State was left scrambling, schedule wise, which is why we got the 2-for-1 deals.
tjfoose1ParticipantWe (the fans, that is) are the Griswold’s of CFB….
Nice Wuf’
tjfoose1ParticipantI’m thankful our athletes, warts and all, knuckleheads and all, reflect a better character and quality than a certain segment of its fan base.
tjfoose1ParticipantI for one am no longer buying the “building a program” crap, we’ve been “rebuilding” for 35 years and 7 head coaches. We are what we are, and that’s just not very good and without any sign we ever will be.
So many things wrong with that on so many levels. From reading Alpha’s other post over the years, I suspect that’s frustration and not his true thoughts. I doubt he lives his life that way.
Of those many things, I’ll just state the obvious: Current coaches, current players, current administration, and current AD have nothing to do with the past performances of their predecessors.
tjfoose1ParticipantAlso wondering why we don’t just burn the other guy’s redshirt if Gallaspy ain’t ready.
Won’t happen. Even if we lose an RB to injury. Gallaspy is more ready than Frasier. Frasier came in late, was ill for a while, then injured his ankle. He started out behind schedule and still think he’s behind and not 100% healthy. Doeren is not going to waste a year if for no other reason than for the kid’s best interest.
tjfoose1ParticipantSerious question. If this season turns into a death spiral, will Doeren start playing McClendon to get him reps for the future?
No. Not unless Brissett is injured. Not a chance.
tjfoose1Participant^ Agreed.
tjfoose1ParticipantAgree about Gallaspy, CD. It was obvious in his previous goal line struggles. Even from the stands last night, it was obvious the issue continues. One particular example stands out. It’s as if he was trying to do his best Tony Richardson impression.
As I stated when it happened, it appears most do not appreciate the effects of Thornton’s loss.
tjfoose1ParticipantAs I said 3 years ago Dave Doofus is in over his head
To be expected I guess, but that’s just asinine.
tjfoose1ParticipantPitiful. Frauds exposed.
Game turned when Jones got hurt with score 10-0. Crowd started booing thinking Jones was faking. I told hokies I was sitting with that if Jones was out, he was hurt because we don’t want his backup on the field. That as long as 31 was in, VT had a chance to score.
Then boom. Pratt got abused immediately and continually. He was lost on almost every play early on. Took his own teammates out on 2 big plays.
Something still aint right with Jacoby. Our passing game has gone to pot.
tjfoose1ParticipantHeck, Illinois fired theirs a week or so before the season began. Why?
In Illinois defense, they didn’t have much of a choice. From the outside looking in, they did the right thing if only for legal reasons. Lawsuits and/or settlements would’ve surely followed if they kept the coach. Some probably still are.
tjfoose1ParticipantThen again, it is MARYLAND we talkin’ bout.
They deserve each other.
tjfoose1Participant^ With Maryland’s departure, I would like to see a realignment of divisions with one consisting of the 7 pre-expansion ACC teams and the other made up of the former Big East schools + FSU. See below. That would maintain all traditional rivalries.
Makes too much sense though. Swofford will never go for it.
NC State
Duke
Wake
u*nc
UVA
Clemson
Ga TechFSU
Syracuse
BC
Pitt
Miami
Va Tech
Louisvilletjfoose1Participant^ How soon they forget… I think we should have gone to full blown TOB mode. Shotgun hand off to the back for 1.5 yards every play.
Sometimes there’s bad days, no matter what you do. Today, the Louisville game is an outlier. I’d imagine that during film review, the coaches and player were like ‘wtf, we know better. We don’t do that’ with lots of unforced, boneheaded errors. My suspicion anyway.
As referenced is previous posts, for a multitude of reasons, chalk this one up as just one of those days. Do the standard review and analysis and move on. If with the next game it proves to be something more, then there’s a problem.
tjfoose1ParticipantThis was a disaster hire from the beginning. As I recall, Edsall was a wildly unpopular choice at the time.
Yep, and he made himself wildly unpopular at UCONN with the way he left. Kinda tough to do considering after taking over for Skip Holtz, he became the winningest coach in their history.
Not a very good ‘people’ person.
tjfoose1ParticipantCapable team
Nope. Not unless they get some of their wounded back. But wouldn’t you know it, Brewer is a game time decision.
100 TOTAL yards? Against Pitt? That’s total offense. TOTAL.
That’s far from capable, especially in 2015.
Doesn’t mean they can’t beat us though.
tjfoose1ParticipantSome dude named Napoleon said that….
Vote for Pedro
tjfoose1ParticipantI’ll be in Lane stadium Friday night. The Wolfpack has never lost when Ive been there.
