Hope you’re right, CD. Discounting Shad, everything is about as I expected this season, except for the passing game. No way did I see what 2015 brought in that regard. But that’s a big miss.

Unless and until it regains its effectiveness, I see struggles every game and none worthy of those odds. In fact, if the passing game continues to be what we’ve seen the past two games, the ‘Pack would be lucky just to log 2 more wins.

VT recognized it and soon went to stacking the line with their signature high pressure defense. The Wolfpack was never able to counter with a legitimate consistent passing threat.

I’m hoping it was just a wet ball, but I doubt it’s that simple, or likewise rectified. Whatever it was, hopefully 14 days was long enough to resolve it.

Thanks for the info, CD. Good to hear about Jones, not unexpected about Gallaspy. It appeared fumbling is what got Nickols demoted. Let’s hope that’s been resolved.

Good points. Make sense, especially considering the LTR costs and the benchmarking against UVA.

MS State is also on the schedule.

Why I didn’t see the justification for all the whining. It was a issue that arose not through design that had already been resolved.

Everyone here is knowledgeable enough to understand schedules are made years in advance.

Wake looking much improved. If the Wolfpack doesn’t figure out and resolve whatever it is that ails its passing game, they’re looking at a likely 0-3 conference mark.

why are we continuing to make agreements that have on the road outside the Power 5

Should be done with that, for the most part, at least as long as there are no late changes to the schedule.

At least 2 of the non power 5 away games were due to trying to find replacement games. They wouldn’t go for a single game in Raleigh, so we took a 2-for-1 deal. Two home for one away.

As for ODU, a lot of ACC teams will be playing there. It’s an FBS school plus rich recruiting area. Currently, Wake, u*nc, and Va Tech are on ODU’s future home schedule. I think there are a few more too. ODU also said they’d soon be adding UVA.

Being called out for looking like your in over your head in the woeful ACC the past 3 seasons

Point of information, and only that. Not a jab. Doeren has only been on the job the PAST 2 seasons and for half the CURRENT season. That’s a big difference if doing a coaching assessment, and also important in that he’s only had 2 full recruiting classes.

Wish I could say the same about you

Oh well, we can’t have everything we want.

But you’ve made comments yourself, as have other admins, albeit in a friendly jab sort of way, that being such seems to be somewhat of a common occurrence with you, almost to a point of being a character trait.

There was a time when it seemed you had gotten into a pages long pissing contest with almost every regular poster on this site. You frequently poked and prodded as if actively and intentionally trying to get something started. That was the ‘game’ I was referencing. It’s was all too recognizable.

Anyway, I was just acknowledging the lapse.

This level of contradiction coming from someone so hell bent on “facts”.

    Hi Troll, how you doing?

I see no contradiction. I never laid BLAME. I said one does not happen without the other. Perhaps it’s a nuance you don’t understand.

It started a sequence of cascading events that never start w/o the injury. Sometimes things are a little more complicated than a simple linear AB equation. There’s a difference between cause and effect, cascading events, and BLAME.

And by the way, not a single person in this thread has called for DD to be fired now or at the end of the season.

    True. What’s your point?

To me, that’s also a sign of youth. In college or high school football, when your best talent is young, then I think the team is going to struggle.

It takes 3-4 years to establish a new culture and consistent leadership to develop. On the latter, losing Jacoby will hurt, but if the coaches are doing their job, the void will be filled. Next year will be more telling. Yow will extend the contract or cut bait by end of 2017.

And you are right your acidic drivel is one of the reason.

I understand, you don’t like it when people don’t agree with you. And it has been a while since you’ve been a d!ck around here, so it musta been tough on you. It’s ok, I can handle it. Get it all out.

    scarce
    adjective
    scarc·er, scarc·est
Insufficient to meet a demand or requirement; short in supply: Fresh vegetables were scarce during the drought.

Btw, unrelated – for those wondering about Bo Hines, he had 6 receptions for 68 yds in Game 1 before going out with a shoulder injury. According to a recap of Yale’s last game, he hasn’t play since.

No. No one blamed the loss of a cornerback. No one blamed anyone or anything. If you were paying attention, you would have noticed that no one even mentioned a cornerback.

What was being discussed was the injury to a safety, the leader of the defense who called the plays and made the pre snap adjustments. What was discussed was insight as to what prompted the sudden momentum change and factors that contributed to the defense giving up 21 points in the 2nd quarter after shutting them down in the first.

It was explicitly noted, on several occasions, that it did NOT explain the offensive issues that were major contributors to the loss.

Feel free to continue to play your game, though. But from your post the other day, I thought you were making yourself scarce because of all this drivel.

Are we all in on him at S?

Don’t know. But we are deep at LB. Curious to see how he responds after last week though. From DD’s comments last night, I take it he’s talented, but was perhaps a little immature in his prep and dedication.

DD seems to think he’s been cured of that. Knowing you let your teammates down, especially on such a stage, tends to do that. More so than anything else. The film review must have been embarrassing for him, extremely. From the sole perspective of Pratt’s development, last Friday may, may, turn out to be the most significant event in his college career.

    We’ll see.

I’m with ya, CD. I trust you to quickly counter if you see me missing.

Once Gallasby learns to quickly read and hit the hole, his effectiveness will multiply. I first noticed that in one of the early games at home when he kept missing on the goal line. One miss, in particular, was very, very obvious.

And to all, I was offering my Pratt observations, in part, because I was at the game closely watching for my geek like nuances. A lot of the telling parts of what I saw was did not appear on TV. The between play, pre-snap signaling, body language and confusion was very telling.

Choppack, how refreshing. There are still sensible posters who have not either fired the coach or put him in the HOF.

I get the hyperbole, but that’s a strawman.

That [Hakim Jones injury] is when the game turned. Pratt is not ready, not sure he ever will be. There’s a reason why a 6’3? 234 lb sophomore safety hasn’t been getting much meaningful playing time, and it’s not because he doesn’t have the physical tools. He was immediately abused, including VT’s first TD. He not only made mistakes on 3 of their big plays in the 2nd quarter, but he took out teammates while doing it.

I don’t think this is getting enough attention. Without the injury, State beats VT. That’s not to excuse the loss, however.

Doeren and Haynes discussed this themselves on Doeren’s radio show last night. I don’t like to call out specific student athletes by name, but I emailed in a deftly worded question regarding the injury and subsequent play at the position and the associated issues on D in the 2nd quarter.

Although I did not hear it answered in the Q&A part of the show, Doeren directly addressed it later, mentioning Pratt by name, saying that Pratt was unprepared, embarrassed, and referenced previous practice habits that were left wanting.

The detrimental effect was compounded because that position is the “QB” of the defense and Pratt’s unpreparedness and confusion, his delays, and failure to make the right calls, had the expected results on the entire defense.

Doeren went on to say that Pratt recognized this as a wake up call and felt he let team down. DD used it as a teachable moment about practicing the correct way and always being prepared.

Anyway, wanted to share to highlight the effect of the injury for those truly at a loss for what happened Friday. It doesn’t explain the offensive woes, but it was the catalyst of the change in Big Mo’ that led to the 21 point 2nd quarter.

I also shared to note that those who can see beyond the obvious tend to have valid contributions to share. Given our similar but different backgrounds, Ive come to accept that if CD and I both see the same thing, it’s generally what is.

I’m assuming the coaches saw it

I know VT’s coaches saw it, for they constantly went at him.

I mentioned it after the VT game, but haven’t seen anyone else even reference it. Surprised by that. But then, I doubt the TV provided the views to see what I could from the stands.

Losing Hakim Jones to injury when the score was 10-0 was huge. If you’re not remembering this, it was when the stands started booing because they thought Jones was faking the injury when he went down by the sidelines (he never returned).

I told the Hokie I went up with, “Trust me, if Jones is going out, he is hurt. As long as Pratt is in the game, you all have a good chance to score.”

That is when the game turned. Pratt is not ready, not sure he ever will be. There’s a reason why a 6’3″ 234 lb sophomore safety hasn’t been getting much meaningful playing time, and it’s not because he doesn’t have the physical tools. He was immediately abused, including VT’s first TD. He not only made mistakes on 3 of their big plays in the 2nd quarter, but he took out teammates while doing it.

I’m assuming the coaches saw it, for they quickly took Pratt out and replaced him with #24 Boone. For a few plays, things seemed to settle down. But then Pratt was soon back in, looking lost again. I have no clue what was going on, or what or why the coaches were thinking whatever they were thinking.

That doesn’t explain the offensive collapse, but big Mo’ can be funny sometimes. When Jones went down, it was like a switch had been flipped. Immediately on the first play.

Hopefully Jones will be back in time for Wake.

No excuses to not have a quality backup at this point. At least one who knows where to line up, pre snap.

    hahaha, foose, you mad?

No bro, I’m not mad at all. But loud and boastful ignorance can be an irritant at times, even with the forewarning of coming from a self professed troll.

And no rose colored glasses either, just an objective analysis of the progression arc of the roster, staff, and program from the end of 2012 to today. If you expect a smooth curve, you’re even dumber than some of your posts. Neither Michigan, ND, Ohio St, nor Alabama reside in Raleigh. There are no quick fixes for NC State. The likes of Baylor, TCU, and Oregon are the models to which to strive. They took years, decades even, and they took ‘shortcuts’ to get there. Even the rebuild of FSU took years.

No, no rose colored glasses. Just an understanding of reality, the ability to see, and the absence of a gag reflex to rip and ridicule when I don’t get my way.

Either way, actionable judgment is 2 and half seasons away.

I don’t think one can point to his Northern Illinois NC State record given what he inherited there.

I just can’t seem to put together how anyone at this point in DD’s career can come out and factually state he’s legit.

Some use a little more insight that what a 5 year old could provide and can look beyond the simple metric of a win/loss record 6 games into a 3rd season. Same sight that saw concern for the long term when Amato won 11 games sees a bright future with DD.

I just can’t seem to put together how anyone at this point in DD’s career can come out and factually state he’s legit in over his head.
