    Dwayne Ledford to coach OL

    DD’s best move yet.

    The rest have been promotions.

Nope, you missed this one. Ledford came from App.

Maybe this is too much or maybe coach D is growing into the job as the team grows.

Valid retort. Can’t argue with that thinking, especially since I share it. But that’s not the point.

The point is folks on this site were calling for his head before he had been here a full year. More joined in over the next couple of years, and continued to join in. Anyone who bothered to assess vs just whining and b!tching could at least see potential, and a plan, and that he wasn’t shy about making ‘corrections’ when they needed made. At least those who waited 4 years had a logical, defendable argument.

That concludes my drive-by for the season. Gotta go clean off my boots.

Go Pack! See you in South Bend.

Word is its 8 wins or bust, not from the AD, but from the money.

If directed towards me, I was not offering a defense. He does not need one. I simply stated facts, as they are.

There’s also the kicks never attempted because of the known issues with the kicking game. Those are points left on the field, too.

That said, I’m not blaming nor attacking a 20 year collegiate amateur athlete for anything. No one feels worse than him, no one. He’s only out there because he’s the best we have. That is not his doing.

His failure is not due to lack of want or effort. And he’s never been more than he is. The fan(atic)s can blame him, but not reasonably so. It’s not the Yorkie’s fault he’s not a Rottweiler. Nothing he can do about it, not matter how much want or try he has in him.

Not really even the ‘fault’ of the coaches, though it is their responsibility. They knew they had an issue, and went out and got a grad transfer. On paper a good one. The one that kicked today was good, on paper, when recruited.

Ain’t happy about it, but that’s just the way it is.

Is Wake that bad?.. Because we can’t be that good. Or is this just a confluence of pro Wolfpack biorhythmic synchronicity?

I can’t help but be reminded a bit of the lecturing on white mob violence of the 19th and early 20th century when an accusation of rape was lodged at a black man. More we are told so than not, the facts of the case were never heard and an innocent life was taken. The evil, we are told, was a collective identity ready to defend the group regardless of facts and rational discourse.

Now notice the aforementioned pattern playing out today, a shooting takes place and the facts of a case aren’t mentioned, the response is a collective action against the civil authorities.

I used the exact same comparison earlier in the week to make a point about culture vs race.

Both behaviors occurred not because of the race of those exhibiting the behavior, but because the behavior was acceptable within the culture. It could be argued not only acceptable, but expected.

More lax policing, violent criminals being released via unilaterally commuted sentences in direct violation of statutes, and illegal immigrants convicted of violent crimes, including rape and murder, being release onto the streets vs being deported.

Crime rates will continue to rise until the above changes.

It’s not a coincidence that crime rates went down once repeat violent offenders were locked up.

Not about race. It’s about money and the politically connected, which sometimes comes down along racial lines.

Damn.. you all are killing the reverse mojo with all this talk of winning expectations, good feelings, and girlie picks. Since when does the Wolfpack do well in such settings?

But regardless… Wuf’, nice work, sir. Bravo

I’ll be mildly surprised by a Wolfpack victory.

Not through any analysis, as I’ve been somewhat disengaged this year. Has more to do with that ‘melancholy and stuff’ stuff that CD referenced than anything else.

    C’mon DD, show us something.

    Meh.

Yes, I realize it’s a different time and the game has changed, at least for the big boys. But NC State is far from one of the big boys in the world of college football. It has neither the reputation, luster, nor recruiting base to reasonably expect a quick fix.

    W L
    2 9
    3 8
    6 4
    6 5
    5 6
    2 8

The well documented first 6 seasons of Beamer at VT. But yes, the reality today is that you’d be hard press to find any school outside the Ivy that would be that patient with those records.

So for a school like NC State, there is no tried and true path to a successful football program, not with the timelines of 2016. It’s more a fingers crossed crap shoot just to get the right coach, and that has to come at the right time, and under the right circumstances, just to earn enough clout to last enough seasons to establish his program.

Then the real challenge comes when it’s time to try to keep ’em.

Best recent example is probably Duke. Right time, right coach, at right place in career and life.

That said, I’m about where Saigon is.

It’s too soon to say we have a losing conference record this year.

I don’t know, Grey… I wish it was. Not looking that way from here. And I’m the optimist! :/

they decided Greenville was a better fit and program.

Not Greenville, but Mongtgomery. And not only in comparison to NC State. He’s going to be a problem on the recruiting trail for a lot of bigger programs, and he will be for at least 2-3 years even if he doesn’t win. Winning will only make it worse, especially for the Wolfpack.

That AD may turn out not to be so dumb after all if this was his guy all along. Still think firing the former coach was wrong and unwarranted, and dumb, but maybe not so dumb, if…

Besides who wants to read snappy Wolfpack put-downs, which many posters think is real entertainment. I know I get very tired of them. If I want to read that kind of “humor” I’ll go over to Inside Carolina for it.

    Yep.

That and all the Ovies wannabees.
