The solid red helmet on the golf cart that was pictured on the front page earlier this week will always be my favorite.

If you’re going to do the black uniforms, why do you do them for the game that is only on ESPN3? Do you do that to minimize exposure?

I’m not a fan of the uniform gimmicks. I’d rather win seven in a row to generate attention.

The 1979 ACC Championship team was good enough for a bowl. We just turned down a bowl bid to the Garden State Bowl in the Meadowlands rather than play a game during final exams. I doubt Joab Thomas would have gotten away with a stunt like that after he moved on to Alabama.

Sumlin continues to prove how far behind the SEC was in offensive football prior to the arrival of A&M and also how much of the defensive reputation of the SEC was based on QB play on the level of Bo Wallace.

If A&M’s defense holds up they are going to have a chance to make the playoff.

It looks like the ACC Network has added an affiliate in Houston for this season, but DirecTV only carries their SD signal at present.

    Lemme guess….Me-TV affiliate?

Same thing happened last year in AZ. First coupla games I was just happy to have the game. Then the novelty wore off and the SD reality sunk in, though Tommy Bowden should never be broadcast in HD (or with sound for that matter).

    Not Me-TV. It’s The KUBE.

This just proves how deficient the meal plans are for these poor, exploited athletes. No wonder Winston has to steal crab legs. Shameful.

The fact that TOB wasn’t able to do any better than he did with two out of the best three or four QB’s in the history of the school told me a lot about how sad the surrounding talent was. Years three and four will be when we can start to judge how effective DD has been in recruiting and how good a coach he is.

The ACC Network actually has a station showing games in the 4th largest city in the country this season. None other than KUBE Channel 57. KUBE has a broadcast signal of roughly 50,000 milliwatts and picture quality that can best be described as “unrivaled”. This is another positive by-product of the SEC Network. The primary benefit being the elimination of UK vs UAB from ESPNU.

Between the Texans and the Pack last season I tasted victory five times in total. I don’t think there was a single win after about week 5. To say I have tempered expectations this year would be putting it mildly. Six wins and a bowl game would be awesome but to say I’m hyped for the Ga. Southern game on ESPN45 would be asking too much. I’m much more excited that the kid gets to open the new stadium on campus at UH this Friday night.

This staff looks like they are completely over matched at this point. Looks like they think they can pick up some better backs on the waiver wire.

RIP Robin Williams. Mork and Mindy episodes with Exodor were the best. Absolutely brilliant comedian.

If we are going to have a position called Rover, or Hero, or Bandit, etc. then I will be so jacked up that the record won’t even matter. It also makes a lot of sense from a match-up stand point as long as we can still stop the run.

My only fear with Anya is that he might play his way into the lottery by next Spring.

I bet what he is really doing is trying to get in shape for the Krispy Kreme Challenge.

Not sure what to think about this. It will either be a full on whitewash to save the NCAA’s reputation or they will emasculate UNC-CH.

I’m not getting my hopes up just yet.

Where did the idea come from that a trademark that has been in place for decades can be revoked for political reasons? The ACLU will side with the Redskins organization on this.

. Politically unpopular speech is exactly the kind of speech the Founding Fathers intended to protect with the First Amendment.

That’s not the argument, though we’re not really arguing, here. We all know that the team has the right to call themselves whatever they want.

The point is that the Skins, as a public business, should do what is ethically and morally correct. Just good business practice. They have the Constiutional right to call themselves the Washington Negro’s but I doubt they would do that either. Just because one group of people have a much higher political clout than the other, does that mean that one group of people is more important than the other. I suppose to some yes but to me no.

I suppose I just have more empathy towards the Native American tribes. They got totally screwed over by us Whiteies many times over the years and even to this day it’s ok to make fun of them in movies but god forbid if you make fun of an African American in a movie.

Actually that is precisely the argument. An arm of the United States Government revoked their trademark because of their political position on the subject. This should chill everyone to the bone, whether they agree with the Redskins nickname or not. Eventually “they” will come after some thought that you have.

Federal judges have upheld the rights of the American Nazi Party to march and express views several orders of magnitude more offensive than having Redskins as a mascot. Politically unpopular speech is exactly the kind of speech the Founding Fathers intended to protect with the First Amendment. There are multiple public high schools in the heart of Indian Country in Oklahoma who have “Savages” as their nickname. Government funded institutions so if they’re really serious about this they will cut off funding to these institutions before they go after the Redskins.

My Libertarian streak is getting wider as time goes on.

For the record I despise both the Cowboys and the Redskins.

This may be another difficult season on the gridiron. I was more optimistic at the end of last season than I am now, because I haven’t seen any evidence that DD and company are going to follow up their first recruiting class with a class that’s anywhere close to as good.

The only thing that separates us from becoming an ECU, SMU, or UH is our conference affiliation and that isn’t even a sure thing after another 1-3 years. We had very well better raise the level of our performance in football, because that is what keeps you “in the club” so to speak. More and more I get the sick feeling that we are in deep doo doo for the long run. I hope the ship can be turned around, but I think it’s a 50/50 prospect at this point.
